don't you look great.
You must be an Igbo woman,go trace your roots.
You name should have been Nkechi or Ngozika.

Thank you for the comment.

LOL

Babiosisi, I look like I could have come from any where in Africa accept for the North and maybe the East with the exception of maybe Kenya and Uganda.

Out of curiosity, I will be getting the gene test done though. When I get it done, I will start a topic about it. wink If it turns out that I descend from the Igbo, maybe I will change my name. wink

I like Nkechi the best, what does it mean?

Is it pronounced like this? N-kech-e but fast?

Hell no it doesn't give Don Imus the right to make racist remarks.

White people will tell you that it was your own people who sold you into slavery when you tell them of how they enslaved you. what is that to say? Is it to say that because your own people(Africans) did not want you, it was then okay for us(White people) to enslave you?

White people will tell you they were not the only ones who had slaves, what they are indirectly saying is, Africans had slaves as well. Did Africans go to Europe to steal or barter for white slaves? The answer is no and even if they did have slaves in their own country, did that give white people the right to come and also have African slaves? The answer is no.

If I am spanking my child, that does not give any stranger the right to come and also spank my child. Do you understand what I am saying?

Don Imus, if he thinks it sounds cute when he hears black people call each other names that he wants to try it out on his wife or children, that would be his and his family's business but when he thinks he can justify calling it to my people because they do it to their self, he is just looking for a justifiable reason to publicly be the racist that he is.

It is not racist for a black man to call a black woman a "nappy head ho" but it sure is stupid.

For a white man to refer to a black woman as a "nappy head ho" it is down right racist. wink

What do you think? and be honest. grin

@ADCON
And as for kenya being as corrupt as Nigeria,NOT A CHANCE!!Especially not at the individual level,we are just too contented with enough,I have heard your people refer to this as TIMID. We don't overdo stuff,we have a very high percentage of us returning home after just a few years abroad to rebuild our country-we love people and we host alot of our neighbours at war.Lots of Nigerians are settled in kenya too.
As for Arap Moi ruling for soo long,that does not prove your leadership better than ours.So you wont allow one to rule for soo long,lets see the good fruits you bear.IT IS NOT THE WHO BUT THE HOW.
You R right about the poor ones living abroad and thats Y i don't understand Y they spend so lavishly.PRAY FOR WISDOM,MONEY WILL FOLLOW
I have been abroad for 6 years now and I leave for home at the end of the year.
I AM GOING TO IMPLEMENT ALL I HAVE LEARNT HERE,CREATE JOBS FOR MY PEOPLE AND BUILD MY NATION.
We the young turks must return home and take over from the old folks.We have alot of acquired knowledge to teach back home.
So lets stop working too hard to get the G-CARD and be patriotic to our own heritage!Go home and rebuid your nation guys!QUIT COMPLAINING
Lets create a good enviroment for our future generations!

Nice post and I have to say, I have met many Kenyan folk and I have never experienced any negativity with them, they always have something good to say about Kenya. For the most part, they seem to be a united people and I don't mean untied only for the purposes of of rivaling tribalism.

@BINTIKENTYA

The spending habits you described seems to belong to all black people, not just Nigerians. I think it is a way for black people to try and fit in with what they perceive as making it to the top, once you have made it, you are supposed to have the items which show you have something, at least that is what black people seem to think. Any way, it is very much so back ward thinking. You don't get thousands and then go backwards by spending thousands. Black people need to learn how to make the money and not let them money make them.

@Honeric01

Lets us all think issue in a two way type, fraud, coveteousness and exploitation are all from the same parent, the white coverted and exploited our land and now the smart in a negative way nigerians are now going back to them to show them how it feels when you are cheated and exploited. uhm, i see this as something very funny and controversial, you see not only nigerians do this, alot of other black nations and white nations too do this, and then they push it down to nigeria as if we are the only ones in the world who has that kind of a head and heart to cheat and scam people. do you know that america today cheat other countries in an advance way? they shit, clean their ass and then they use part of the shit to rub other countires ass so that you think its that country that did that evil, you should all wake up and stop blaming eachother, no one wants to loose and when they do, they try all possible means to make themselves holy as if the criminal came in from the front door and then did them evil as if they didn't do anything, corruption happens between 2 people, i offer, you accept, if i offer and you reject, there is no way it can happen, LETS WAKE UP AND LET THE ONES THAT CAN DO POSITIVE THINGS THINK ABOUT HOW THEY WOULD MAKE POPLE BENEFIT FROM THEM.

You are absolutely right. As a matter a fact, I think this is all a set up for Nigerians. I wouldn't be surprised if there are plans for the American government to attack Nigerians in effort to take over the oil. Putting Nigerians in the news as bad people is probably fuel for the fire which will begin once the American government wants to justify a reason to occupy Nigerian land and again, in effort to steal the oil those Nigerians seem to take advantage of and don't seem to manage well.

Ha, ha, ha, Can you imagine that? All the tribalism taking place in this topic. I can see it now. America goes to war with Nigeria, they steal the oil and all Nigerians can do after that is resort to pointing fingers at this tribe or that tribe, Nigerians would be even more intelligent then, don't you think?

@adconline
I bet you can never hear Nigerians talk about African countries because there are so many things going on in their country, but it looks like African countries are so much fixated on Nigerians. I tell you something that Nigerians would not allow someone to rule them for about 24 years the way Arap Moi did. This holier than though attitude has got to stop. Pot calling kettle charcoal

What a blanket statment,

Are you serious? Nigerians (Not all of them) speak harshly of Ghana and South Africa all the time. All African tribes have something to say about another African tribe in another country, no tribe is innocent when it comes to this, not even Nigerians. The whole of Africa is doing bad and even though South Africa is somewhat close to having the same economics as America, still, Black South Africans are doing bad as well. The childish finger pointing has got to stop, you do know that everyone sees black people as little children who can't take care of their self and it's not difficult to see why, just read this topic from the beginning and you will see.

As far as Nigeria not allowing anyone to rule them for about 24 years, please, are you still kidding? You have to be.

Why does it matter how many years one part of Africa was ruled over in comparison to how many years another part of Africa was ruled? Bottom line, the entire continent of Africa was ruled by outsiders, all of Africa.

I don't care if one part was ruled over for less years, Africa was entirely ruled over by outsiders, what a pity. You are being subtle with your tribalism but you don't fool me. Either you want unity amongst Africans or you don't. Stop pointing your tiny little finger because what you are doing is old and what you are doing needs to stop. Trust me, finger pointing is not making Nigeria look better to it's people or to the outsiders who are looking in.

@Texaazpete

Yes, I know it was her hard earned money but as far as her wanting to help someone, if she really wanted to help someone, she would have emptied out her savings and maxed her credit cards helping the homeless people and the hungry people she sees everyday on the streets right here in America. If she wanted to empty out her savings and max out her credit cards to help someone, she would have done that for someone that she could see who really was in need of the help. Yeah, it was her money and she worked hard for it so if she really cared about her money, she would not have allowed her self to get caught up in a scam where she couldn't even see who she was helping.

White people are so used to getting over on black people that they could never fathom black people would be smart enough to use against white people what is their biggest fault, that being greed. White people hear an African on the other end of the line and they think "Oh, he is from a poor country, he is not an American black so he is humble and he wouldn't dare scam me" Little do they know, it is that kind of thinking that Nigerians know they are going to think and that is how they get scammed as well, by thinking black people are incapable of such a well thought out and carried out plan.

white people should try seeing Africans as humans and not little incapable primates.

Here's some links to some of the stuff on Nigeria scams.

Reading through the story of Patricia, I could tell that she's the money-doubler type. She likes getting money the easy way. And she lost her moeny the easy way too. So, I see no reason why Oprah would go on air because of some careless Patricia who cannot, in this day and age, differentiate between a swindler and a genuine business man.

All said, these should in no way have any bearing on everyone in the country. We have sincere hardworking men and women in Nigeria who are making things happen in all fields of human endeavour. I suggest Oprah should come on air with such person as Emegwali, Wole Soyinka, Dangote, etc etc.

If she's really after our best interests, she should throw up the good things about the country rather than making some baseless generalisations about a someone who can't keep her money.

I am not trying to laugh or make fun of anyone but i said this earlier in this topic, it is greedy white people who fall for these scams. You see how they got that woman in the link you posted looking all pitiful, now they want us to feel sorry for her. had that been a black person, they would not have mead them look all pitiful like that woman is looking, they would have had the black person looking like he deserved to be scammed and they would have worded the reasons for why he participated in the scam differently. They made it look like this woman only wanted to help somebody. What she really wanted was easy money, most white people do.

@Uzygirl

Does your image matter to you as a person?W hy should we not ppotray a finer image as a nation. We have a greater number o hardworking Nigerians than the "yahoo boys". But try applying for a visa somewhere, they'll sooner grant Japanease or Ukrainian ten times over before they consider a Nigerian. A Nigerian schooling in London told me their class is supposed to go on field trip to Utah, all the Nigerians in his class with the exception of one married man were refused the American visa. Yet, an indian girl in his class got 12 years, when they had all applied for 3 weeks.
[b]Why should we not worry about what other people think?

BBC and CNN give news with facts. It's not only our bad side they potray. I remember watching a documentry last year about the computer village in Lagos. They showed these illiterate(without formal education) Ibo boys assembling parts of computers and clips of some computer schools run by these Igbos. Which other country can you find something like that.

As black people, they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Point being, If Nigierans were perfect people and did nothing that was morally wrong or against the law, they would not be posting Nigeria all across the news as the best African Country on the Continent. Unless, they were trying to provoke some trouble between Nigerians and other African Africans

If you worry about what other people think, you will always be breaking your back trying to appeal to them and guess what, they will still never be satisfied with you. My point is, you just do what you do best and encourage other Nigerians to do the same. Telling them to stop what they are doing because of the way it makes Nigeria look is not going to do them any good when they are hungry and have bills to pay, plus, they have seen how white people can get away with doing all they have done to Nigeria and the whole of Africa.

What else can they do if they are not allowed to leave Nigeria so that they can make a way to feed their family and pay their bills? I am not condoning what they do in terms of the Nigerian scams but lets keep in mind, it is only called (Nigerian scams) because they have managed to be successful in duping several greedy white people who had money but wanted more.

@Sisimose

does it really matter any more about our image? good or bad, because no matter what if the west plays a tune and Any African nation does not dance to it then forget it. as for Oprah lets forget that, she does shows about everything and i think she is quite fair. Worry more about the likes of BBC and CNN they are the buggers.

I don't think we as a nation do anything that has not been done by others before, what about the Ukrainians and co who do nothing but fake passports, the Japanese guys doing fake designer wears and experts at movie piracy? or the ones we don't hear of, the white , respectable looking English business men who do nothing but travel round with nothing but a GCSE under their belt and manage to blag their way to million and millions of naira worth contracts.

Abegi let us forget and just do our best those that are working should keep working. Enemies of progress shall not stand in the way of Nigeria's future . ISE'

are white people ashamed of themselves with due respect to slavery!

Not just slavery but the theft of other peoples land, Colonialism. Who do they think they are going around taking what does not belong to them and then pretending to be the angles of the world.

I am not making up an excuse for Nigerians but they have been taught very well how to do their scams by paying close attention to the scams white people ran on the whole of Africa. When one is hungry and one has to make a way for ones self, on is subjective to doing what one feels on has to do.

It is the greedy white people who already have money that let their self get suckered into these scams, that is the only reason why we are hearing about the Nigerian scams so much. If it was black people getting away with scamming each other, we would not hear about it but again, white people always want to pose as the innocent ones who have done no harm yet, they are the victims being targeted.
