There's a lot the OP is not telling us. From harassing him to death threat to stealing, the story is bordering on danger of a single story. It's like the OP wants to paint himself a Saint here but has not told us what he did for someone to harass him like this. He is even ready for self defence and charms but doesn't want police wahala 🤡

I need some honest advice on a situation at my workplace. There’s this guy who has been constantly disturbing and harassing me. I’ve tried everything to avoid him—I’ve warned him multiple times, told him the implications of his actions, and I even have evidence of all his disturbances. I’ve even ask for a change of location.

The problem is, despite all my warnings, he recently tried to attack me. I’m really trying to keep things professional and avoid any 'police wahala' or ending up in a cell because of him.
At one point, I even thought about using a weapon just to protect myself if he lunges again, but I know how Nigerian law can be. I don't want to face a criminal case over a nuisance.

How do you guys handle a physical threat at work when you don't want to involve the police?

Are you a woman? Let's start from there because the dynamics can be different based on your gender. What is his level? Your colleague at the same level, your boss or what is his direct impact on your work? Or is he from another division?

If someone is a threat to your life, HR is not human, protect yourself first. HR has only one job to do, protect the company, so don't be naive and leave your destiny to them. That thing you call professional is how they will professionally manage your story if you die there. Before you joined the company, were they interested in your life? One day you will leave that company so think about it well. Your safety is paramount here. What makes you think if you leave the company he won't still stalk you? How much of your personal life does he know? When did he join the company? Before you? Is he a power player in the company?

My identity does not rely on attaching myself to what's not mine or looking for validation just because. He is correct to an extent but opposition must be aware that those who are good at propaganda are equally good at gaslighting. Now, they don't even need to lie, they put it in your face. 2023 was another example for that. Under the Legislative Houses (Powers and Privileges) Act, 2017, refusing to honor a summons is classified as contempt of the Legislative House.
A person convicted of such contempt is liable to a fine of N500,000 or imprisonment for two years, or both.

The constitutional power to summon individuals is derived from Sections 88 and 89 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
A. Section 88: Grants the National Assembly the power to direct an investigation into any matter for which it has the power to make laws, including the conduct of any person or ministry.

B.Section 89: Specifically empowers the Senate, the House of Representatives, or their committees to summon any person in Nigeria to give evidence or produce documents. This section also allows for the issuance of warrants to compel attendance if a summons is ignored.

My question is, is the Senate acting within its own laws? Someone please educate me if I am wrong.

They were highly intelligent back then and read a lot. Language was used to bridge the gap between the cultures and regions. It's important for leaders to know how to speak multiple languages. The US gets some slack for their leaders only knowing how to speak English. Zik spoke French and Latin too.

I told a friend who's in haunt for apartment in my area about the availability in this our neighbourhood and before he could speak my sister and my mom said is it not the same house that an old woman lived before passing away? And I was like is there anything wrong with it? But my mom stretched out words to debunk any attempt of my friend taking the apartment as she said the old woman have been living in the house for more than 40yrs before she died. On a more serious note, your mom probably has more information than you do and 40 years is not a joke. Many people here are not even up to 40 so don't take your mom's warning for granted. We should be making the naira strong that we don't even bother about the dollar. Why is our economy pegged to the dollar's position? Many Nigerians are shocked when they japa and take dollars abroad and the locals are looking at you as if you are not okay. Writing is a very important part of your life. I once wrote here and someone said that I used AI. Writing means that you can think. It means you can bring thoughts together, you can express yourself. It means you can express restraint and apply critical thinking before publishing. Why am I writing about writing? She is actually right. Love is blind. When you spend years in marriage, you'll know love is not enough. The idea that marriage must be based primarily on romantic love became strongly emphasized in the modern West. It wasn't our thing. And I'm not saying we as a people don't love, but there was a more important reason for marriage. Marriage wasn’t just between two individuals, it was between families. That's why they placed emphasis on other people checking it out for you, not you going on your own alone. All those romantic things we see in movies are fallacies.

Africa prioritizes structure before emotions and it's not just us, Asians have this too.
