Why this chain of questions and comparisons? I watched ID Cabasa talk about this too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Kyu5ZG8Q9M https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75fyiAXZ2ag |
A pundit once got into hot water for calling this observation out. Joey Barton, a former Premier League footballer and manager, sparked significant controversy and "got into hot water" in December 2023 for a series of social media posts claiming that women should not be involved in commentating or providing analysis on men's football. https://www.tiktok.com/video/7537277571801550103 I will not go to the extent of Barton for analysis but I agreed with him. He called it woke and used some nasty words. Football is where men feel free, once you start having these unnecessary emotions in the game, I am afraid we will lose it to softness and unnecessary distractions. It's not to say men are perfect but I fear a day when in football, men will be afraid to unpack (not in a racist or abusive tone) how they objectively want to talk about issues. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Kyu5ZG8Q9M?si=mNz1HxuZm7Hz6jyZ About the fact that women are causing distractions in men's games, let me pull that out

BrickandLace:You can do better than this childish comment. Better luck next time. Enjoy your day. This conversation may require more bandwidth than you have invested in ![]() |
I was watching this match highlight of Napoli vs Chelsea (not the Tiktok I shared here but on another platform) and I saw people complain about the weakness of the commentary. They said it's either the commentator was biased or they lacked passion. Bear in mind, there was a male and female. In the one I saw, the woman did not do justice to the fantastic goals that were scored. In fact, someone joked that you are better off listening to Arab commentary or Brazilians ![]() Another one said that's why he mutes his TV and watches online match commentary on social media for people who have more passion for the game https://www.tiktok.com/video/7600538737017539860 My response to the guy that called me a misogynist because of that comment SixSeven: |
I want to conduct a poll on this topic after my comment on the other thread about female commentators in football games. I do not enjoy it and I have been watching football for over 3 decades. I have also been listening to football commentary and analysis on radio, through SW to AM to FM and now podcasts and everything. During the days of livescores, I don't know if they still do that, women call it out. Women were always in the game but they never touched the live commentary part. I think due to the nature of the game and most audience being men, it was a sacrilege to disrupt what people heard. Someone called me a misogynist because of my comment. I want to know, do you enjoy women's live commentary for men's games? This is just a statistical analysis of viewers' choice, no sentiments, no favoritism. Let's see what this sample size shows and maybe media organizations can learn from their consumers. Cc dominique Semid4lyfe

insidelife22:Na Lagos dem de. He built Lagos but e never reach Calabar yet it's called a Lagos-Calabar road. You know propangadists, they will choose the narrative they want to play for their masters, even 4th Mainland Bridge their oga promised and blamed FG, they will tell us a picture is progress. Clowns

Freshandfitpod:I don't care. I don't enjoy it. I was watching Chelsea's recent match against Napoli and I also saw other people also say the same thing. I don't care about political correctness. Super Sports has some female anchors and analysts, no problem but I don't want them for the men's football commentary. Women will bring in unnecessary controversy and distractions to our game, then they will play victim. Watch how Ẹni Aluko blamed Ian Wright for preventing women from their own sports and dominating it. They will spoil the sports for us. Just last year, you saw those female presenters on the pitch wearing boobs revealing clothes, women know how to draw the attention to themselves, we don't need that https://www.tiktok.com/video/7496581060801596694 https://www.tiktok.com/video/7344056933453761825 I am sure if these organizers did a poll to their viewers asking them if they wanted a female commentator, they know what we want. It's just too much political correctness today and people feel hurt. https://www.tiktok.com/video/7531420005485874454? I love the FIFA women's world cup. I watch it even when people think it's a waste of time but I prefer men for men, women for women. Let's have sense and respect each other. Thank you. |
A straw man fallacy occurs when someone distorts or exaggerates another person's argument, and then attacks the distorted version of the argument instead of refuting the original point. Who is in power? Who has more control of our currency? Who promised to make the currency normal? What a weakling!

angelboy01:Thieves don't trust themselves, they never do. Wike thinks he has the organic love Obi had, that's why they are copying the same lines thinking maybe it's this one that will work. All of a sudden, you don't need governors? You can buy some of the people most of the time, you can't buy all of the people ALL of the time.

erad:I see that my writing is more likely to resonate more with people who’ve spent time thinking about these systems. It’s more intuitive if you’re used to abstract reasoning and involves doing a lot of work between the lines ![]() |
I want the Premier League to remove female commentators for live games please. I can watch and listen to a female commentator in women's games. Women will come into men's sports and still complain about discrimination. God. |
erad:You don't understand the government's business with the entertainment industry ![]() The US uses entertainment not only for influence in the world, but for national security. Inthe wake of World War II, the United States government transitioned from the overt propaganda of wartime to a sophisticated "Cultural Cold War" strategy, using entertainment as a primary tool of soft power. This effort was driven by a desire to counter Soviet influence and project an image of American freedom, diversity, and technological superiority to the rest of the world. Through agencies like the State Department and the newly formed CIA, the government became a silent partner in the arts, funding international tours for "Jazz Ambassadors" like Louis Armstrong and Dizzy Gillespie to showcase American cultural vibrancy. Behind the scenes, the CIA covertly bankrolled magazines and promoted Abstract Expressionist painters, using their avant-garde style as proof of the intellectual liberty found only in a democratic society. Domestically, the relationship between the Pentagon and Hollywood formalized into a "military-entertainment complex." Please google this term to find out more about it. To secure the use of expensive military hardware, bases, and personnel for films, studios allowed the Department of Defense to vet scripts, ensuring that the armed forces were portrayed with prestige and heroism. Meanwhile, the creation of the United States Information Agency (USIA) turned the government into a prolific film producer in its own right, distributing thousands of documentaries and newsreels globally to "tell America’s story." By the mid-1960s, this commitment to cultural influence culminated in the establishment of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), which institutionalized federal funding for the arts as a permanent pillar of American society, ensuring that entertainment remained a vital asset for both national identity and international diplomacy. Every government that is serious gets involved in entertainment business. Let me give you another example. In Italy, the government passed a law about dubbing movies. Mussolini's regime banned foreign-language screenings and required local dubbing to ensure propaganda control. This established a long-standing industry standard to day. When you bring in movies to them, they must meet their own language requirements. They preserve their own language that way, they also create jobs for their people because if you want to sell in that market, you need to translate to Italia. Entertainment is easy control the people and if the government is serious about it, they will invest heavily into it. Entertainment costs money, that's why it needs government support. I give it to our creatives for doing a lot without government's support which is actually GOVERNMENT NEGLIGENCE.

Once thing I notice about Nigerians is our never ending craze for external validation. It has its positives and negatives. When you want us to keep forging ahead and never playing local, it is a good thing. In fact, I acknowledge it here SixSeven:But in the quote above, if you listen to Mo Abudu, I am glad she has now found out that we don't need any international validation, let's build our own. Now that's where government comes in. Unfortunately, the government has not made the people proud of these contributions. For instance, Nollywood practitioners complained about government neglect. It was not until 2014 when the government of Jonathan recognized them and the Minister of Finance, NoI included this sector in our GDP. Our government does not appreciate art, so invariably, people will go outside and work for those who will recognize them and their work. Unfortunately, you cannot tell a story if you are not the owner. Those international people are continuing a post colonial legacy of their own narrative of Africa and they will continue to be a gatekeeper for our own stories. The other part for me is that Nigerians are fond of show off. So international is a bragging right. That's why we are crazy about Grammys, Emmys and all manners of awards that do not belong to us! Until the black ants have a leader, they will continue to remain confused. Write your own story and own it.

What a a big mistake. The name should be Mandate Radio. Jagaban is still relying on the old method they used for the junta and 2015 season. Times have changed. Even their online media approach isn't working |
erad:If you look at his comments without sentiments, he is actually right. No wonder Guardiola said he won't keep quiet because the silence of the world is hypocritical. Dem Don tell am to focus on football but when it is time to show their pride, football is love 🤡 People die for Kwara, e no consain my people. The idieeots are busy counting scores over other people they think are their friends or enemies because of religion. Just imagine if Patience Jonathan go attend Prayer Breakfast when people died in Nigeria. See how they mocked her when she said where are our girls and was crying on TV. Wicked souls. All of you, shame on you. Whether you are a Muslim or Christian. If you cannot see human beings first as humans, don't preach any of your religious beliefs to me. You are all evil As long as it's them dying, you don't give a damn. Nigerian Muslims support Palestine more than holding their own government to account for Nigerian death. What hypocrisy. Christians support Israeli killing thinking its their biblical brothers. All of una de celebrate death come de tell me say God is forgiving. You stand there in your high pointing at each other, saying these ones are terrorists when you are killing people like chicken in the world. Mrtaye:I don't think you both know the meaning of Namibia. It is a country in Southwestern Africa that gained independence in 1990, derives its name from the Nama language word Namib, meaning "vast place" or "area where there is nothing". It refers specifically to the Namib Desert, the world's oldest desert which stretches along its entire coastline. |
