Thanks for the response
Since there's a difference, should I email the school again and tell them if after getting trv and study permit, Is that when I can go ahead with payment of tuition fees?

TO GOD BE THY GLORY. If you know that God's testimonies will never seize here and in your house hold please wherever you are help me praise the LORD. God did it this morning. I checked my CIC account and my heart was like gheghegheghegheghegh because I saw "A final decision has been made" check below. Gurus and everyone I could not scroll down for like 10min on till I gathered courage and behold I saw......Your application was approved. Check your messages below for details...... I just jump out of the office and hug the first person I saw and I started praising God. God is Awesome my people.

Lesson learnt is that,
1. first timer please endeavor to read past thread even when its lengthy try to read am as if you are jacking a course of 6 credit load. I did and it pays off now that I could seek for my admission and TRV myself with the help of God and The wonderful Gurus in the house.

2. After that please be sincere and have faith in God. Never think negative about your application.
3. Loads of Prayers and Fasting. as for me I fast every Tuesdays and pray with my wife everyday because it was on a Tuesday I submitted my TRV application.....Lol.

God is faithful.
Am really indebted to God and to the Gurus I met here. thanks @MichV, Yemmdogg, folaroyal, TheSoj, Mcowubaba(Even when you abandoned me in the middle of vetting my SOP. you are great Man.), Austinpee4, Nony1(Get ready to accept me as visitor.), Osemigho and the rest people in the house.

Hello,

You can find  our PhD admission requirements through the following link:

http://www1.uwindsor.ca/cs/2301/phd-admission-requirements

In particular, you need to have an equivalent of a 4 year Honours Bachelors degree in  Computer Science with all core CS courses taken and with high scoring grades from a good University.  Also, you must have a research thesis based MSc in CS not a course based MSc with project if seeking admission into PhD.  If you meet the conditions, you can follow up and apply and may also contact our grad secretary through csgradinfo@cs.uwindsor.ca for more details and enquiries.

You can specify my name as a possible supervisor. Admission is through an admission committee although a supervisor must be found.  Let me know if you are eligible and decide to apply.

For MSc admission, only condition 1 of having an equivalent of a 4 year Honours BSc in CS  with all core courses taken is needed.  The admission committee might recommend additional undergrad courses to make up if not already taken.

We try to support financially, but expecting full funding is not feasible. We actually do not make any funding guarantee to Masters students.

Hope this helps and Good Luck.

My Email format to supervisor. Got about 6 supervisors, after emailing every prof, with similar interest as mine, in all univerisity in Canada that offer my program.

Dear professor .......,

Name and location. UG research topic and findings.

Grades, awards, publications, etc. (Good if you have high grades like 80% GPA). What you are doing currently if it is related to the program.

What the Prof is doing or have done and how and why I believe it is related to my past study (if I don't have proposed research) and or propose study(if I have one). Plea to support my application to the school.

Attached are my transcript, cert, proposed study (if I have) and CV containing the email address of my UG thesis supervisor. Thank you.

Regards,
Name.

I include UG supervisor name because I still work in his/her lab. If you don't have strong communication with yours, don't specify it in your email or CV. It can be disastrous or very rewarding cos some professors can contact him/her before saying yes to you.

Finally, keep editing and sending it to many. Took me about 3 months of serious supervisor search and prayers before I could get the ones I have. I value them die. Finally, I couldn't apply to all the schools due to limited fund for application fee.

Supervisor search is a serious work for a very serious mind and not a guarantee of admission. Be warned. cool
ok sir. thnks a lot

similarly, research masters program is highly competitive due it's funding also involved.coursework masters program does not require securing a supervisor which also saves you the stress and the reluctant nature of professors responding to your mails due to some factors but all depend on what an individual wants. getting masters admission in CANADA is not always easy and depending on the type of discipline and qualification.Securing admission towards FALL start is always rushy and competitive with voluminous applications from applicants from other countries like the ASIANS than winter/summer start.in addition this is why some agencies in Nigeria are not always interested/reluctant in processing masters admission for their clients but would want to shift your interest to PGD(C) or refer you to other countries like Ireland,UK,US,Australia.
madam keep trying for other schools there. have you checked uni.Regina or uni.Carleton?
yes applied at uni of Regina. I'd try carleton

I emailed lakehead university.he didn't qualify. this is their response;

Hello!

Thank you for your interest in Graduate Studies at Lakehead University. Your degree of second class upper does meet our requirements to apply. Applicants from Nigeria are not required to provide an English proficiency test. You do not need to find a supervisor before applying. Unfortunately our funding for International applicants is very limited and there can be no guarantee of financial support.

For the ease of information transfer, please access all information available online at http://graduatestudies.lakeheadu.ca/programs/. To review information specific to your program of interest, simply click on the program name from the list. All program requirements are listed there. The 'How to Apply' section is where you can find the Graduate Studies Online Application form.

Please note that we do not pre-assess qualifications for admission purposes. In order to know if your qualifications will meet the minimum admission requirements of your program of interest, you must submit a formal application package. Once we receive your application, we will assess your qualifications for admission into your program of interest and provide you with an admission decision.

The following link is where you can find the tuition fees for Masters and PhD programs https://www.lakeheadu.ca/current-students/tuition-fees/fees. If you have any questions regarding tuition fees, please contact the Accounts Office at accounts@lakeheadu.ca.

If you have further questions, please let me know.

Sincerely,
Dylan

As I told you before Computer Sci Msc in Usask is very competitive even you will see that on their website that admission is not easy with ur husbby CGPA. 3.74 is very low to what dey required. I also assisted a friend recently to gain admission into Usask with a cgpa of 3.39...Chemical eng.Msc but Comp Sci too dey competitive. Check your emails for Dos samples mail I sent to you to find supervisor. Please always state your research purpose or topic.

Not okay...I think it's vague. You didn't state specifically why you want him to be your academic supervisor. You didn't read his profile, journals, publications etc. With this mail, I doubt if he'd be motivated to work with you. You said you love his research work....what research work ? You didn't mention the research work in particular. Being a professor, i am sure he must have written several works some of which might not even be in the area of your proposed program. Please be specific when trying to mail a potential supervisor. To me this your mail is generic and it sounds like something you'd send to other professors in the department and trust me, the professor will see through it.
Wow. maybe that was why he couldn't get a supervisor.
please can u send a sample. or rather can I pm you sir.pls

3-4 students alone or 3-4 international students? Omo, this one is competitive for 1st class GPA not to talk of your man's GP.

Just Google rank of Canadian universities and apply to lower ranked schools that offer the school. Genius mentioned some. Check lakehead if they offer it.

Use Google to check the rank and apply to schools down the ladder. All the best.
Alright
thanks

tricks to applying to canadian schools: international students from first world countries or developed countries that want to explore canadian system and stay away from home do love and choose canada as their study destination. similarly such students from wealthy homes and with higher CGPAs would always go for those high rank/competitive universities.this does not mean you can't compete with them and may be lucky but it is always advisable when trying highly ranked/competitive schools,if you have enough money for application fee, jejely apply to low rank schools of your choice and save yourself the emotional stress after the long wait for admission decision because canadian have slow pace in doing and handling things which makes their admission process and even visa application treatment longer than other embassies.
when accessing admission applications, SOPs and recommendation letters play vital roles too..but canadian universities too stingy with their admission sef
ok sir. are u in IT area sir

Hello house @osemigho, Iyalodeofcanada, erayte, megziflips and others.
Pls this was the reason my hubby's application at uni of manitoba was refused.
below was the email sent to his email.

Good morning.  Your application to the coursework MSc program in our department was rejected because your gpa was lower than what the committee was willing to consider.  The coursework program is extremely competitive due to the fact that we only admit a small number of new students each year (this year only 3-4 new students will be accepted).  Therefore, only students with the highest gpa’s will be considered by the committee.

We will probably not be admitting any new students in the Winter term, but if we do it will be one or maybe two new students, if space opens up.  That means that, again, the gpa requirement will be very high.

If you have any further questions please let me know.

Check the list above given to you.

I must let you know that some schools offer funding(scholarship) and Brock is one of such if I am right. Although Brock funding might not be full scholarship but it is likely going to cover most fees and perhaps 5k left. Be wise to check each program funding level and not school fees alone. Good luck.
I checked brock university but the deadline has passed.15th jan.would there be winter session? I can't see any information as regards it on their website. if there are other schools like brock uni with funding. Pls do let me know. thanks

[Qquote author=skylar2020 post=53728524]Good day all, my hubby's app for fall 2017 was refused at both uni of sask n uni of manitoba. sask was because of his ielts score. we added university of manitoba to the list of school ielts shud send results to. I'm convinced that's why he was refused there too. we are left with just uni of Regina. Pls is uni of winnipeg app for fall 2017 n winter 2018 still opened. seems thompson rivers university does not have a masters program in computer sci.pls house are there any other affordable schools still opened.

Not sure exactly how you mean this, but might be a bit misleading.

For every research based program you "need" a supervisor (need in quotes).

I think what they mean is that you don't need to contact or get a guarantee from supervisors prior, but you definitely need to know and list various supervisors you'd like to work with (even if you haven't contacted them).

On your second question, more than half of the schools in Canada have a masters program for computer science, so theres no need listing them.
Maybe if you provided constraints, one might be better able to help you. But without constraints, I'd say almost any university in Canada has a program.
Alright. thanks a lot for your response.
wud want a msc in comp sci with tuition fees per year not more than 10k cad dols.

its rare for the to reject applicants from Nigeria based on ielts score. From the little I know it's not always a requirement for graduates comming from Nigeria. At least I am very sure of U of M. Computer science is abit competitive or anything computing to say the least. Your husband's GPA, experience and availability of supervisor(if thesis)plays an important role. That is why it is always advisable to secure a supervisor before you apply for thesis based admission. Goodluck
u of manitoba was coursework alone
u of sask said he does not need a supervisor before he can apply
wat other schools are ok for him to apply?
