Dopc is not a new entrant in satellite broadband in nigeria they've been around for 14 years. The problem with foreign based satellite ISP's is they work with proxies who inflate cost and fail in keeping to the GOS agreement reached. Sometimes service is even interrupted for no reason and you cant get onsite tech support when its needed the most.

tunde300us, you've said it all, gilat is not an option at all when it comes to vsat, their IRG systems have near zero tolerance for even the most minor rainy weather. with my experience with gilat i'll never advice anyone to subscribe to it.

well, i'll rate them average. they are ok in terms of cost and service availability but somewhat poor in technical support. apart from their lagos office all other branches of DOPC dont respond to customer complaints (worst is abuja branch full of arrogant people). i've been installing DOPC equipment and i also use it presently in my company so i know what i'm saying. I'm talking about the DOPC Vsat platform. I rate them average.

typical nigerians, i dont see the reason why you should talk about phillip, all those criticzing him should tell us what they have achieved in their fields or contributions they have made to science. It looks as if some people are just envious of him.

from what i've observed in most schools today, students aint interested in learning the applied part of science they are mostly interested in getting good grades and thereafter forget all that was thought them. example, i have seen undergraduates studying engineering that tell me they just want to graduate and go work in the bank or get a high paying job that has nothing to do with what they studied. I've also seen physics final year undergraduates taking their practical project work to road side crafts men to construct for them. Even the teachers/lectures contribute to this situation, you can imagine a teacher teaching students what he just "crammed overnight". Of course garbage in garbage out. I believe that if Field work and laboratory experience is one of the criteria for employing teachers the situation will get better.
