Tinubu has demystified the North!

See then running helter skelter. How have the mighty fallen!!!

Ase won o tie le!

By the time Tinubu is done with his 1st term it won’t matter if he is not re-elected. The process towards true federalism is in full effect and it can’t be stopped!

As a side note to those harboring hopes of an Obi presidency. Chants of GEJ should tell you he is not even an option to them

EXPRESSSMAN:
The people supporting this bill doesn't understand the implications.
1. If you make derivation the major basis for distribution of VAT proceed, then companies like MTN will be made to pay VAT in all States where their products are consumed. Just like other companies. This will amount to confusion that will affect businesses.
2. If you exempt people earning one million and below from paying income tax, then apart from Lagos, Rivers and other oil states, how many workers in those other states earn over a million.
3. It is the same thing with companies, how many of them in those other states earn a turnover of 50 million and above.
These are what the Northern states are saying. You want to suffocate them and you don't want them to complain.
4. Taxes, including custom duties that are collected by 62 bodies, you want it to be collected by one body so that it will be easy to introduce consultants to the process. How will all these work and benefits the people and other levels of government.
5. The Economic council and other bodies advised for more time and consultations to sort out these issues, you said no.
And some people are here supporting it thinking that it is a Northern problem.

If they refuse to amend the bill and pass it. They'd wish they signed that bill by the time Lagos and Rivers wins their case in court. Since they depend on Lagos and Rivers enormous tax income to share. I wonder how the little left-over would be enough to share.
It's a painful thing that the other dumb South South Governor's and those useless lawmakers are not applying enough energy like it should be to this initiatives. If they can't get this tax bill they should've also go the River's/Lagos way.

You're from Delta state and according to you, you reside in Benin, Edo state right? In that case, your focus should be on Edo state not Delta since your economic activity including consumption happens in Edo state.
Meanwhile, from the 2021 statistics I laid my hands on, even Delta got more than it generated. Delta generated 13bn and got 27bn which is over 100% of what it generated
Yes I have been in Benin City now for almost 10 years, and same process will follow with Edo State.

Edo State generates more tax returns even more than those big for nothing northern state's like zamfara and kebbi

The point is, nobody should be spoon-fed 80% like the status quo, everyone should get busy and stop sitting down and waiting for milk from the center.

Have you read it? I'm sure no.
But you already took a tribal position
I am still reading it, and the few points have come across seems to be in favour of the mass and small scale business owners

Am from Delta State, so I'll be glad if what is coming from my State VAT, at least a 60% chunk remains in my State instead of 100% going to Abuja and a meagre 30% come back to my State.

Please Sir, I'll urge you to read it wink

I'm a southerner and I'm against the bill. Don't make it about south vs north. The big problem with Nigeria is how we quickly tribalise issues without listening to the other side to know if their concerns are genuine or not.
The north have issues with VAT derivation. At least that seems to be the main thing they are fighting against. A lot of southern govs are also against the bill. So we should listen to all sides and be properly informed by asking the right questions instead of taking a position based on geographical location that does not add anything to you or the conversation.
Have you read about the Bill?

Please only quote me when you have read the Bill Sir
Politics › Re: Tax Reform Bills Aim To Fix Economy, Not Generate Revenue – Oyedele by skywalker240(m): 6:22am On Dec 03, 2024
epainos:
Summary of what Oyedele said:

Every state that contributes enough revenue will begin to receive its fair share. We take oil from your states; you take more. Period. Those opposed to these bills are unwilling to work and contribute. They devised the high population as a means of continuing to take more, and it is time we put an end to it. Period.

If you are opposed to this bill and are not from the northern states, you are simply stupid. And you are an illiterate.

If you earn between N70,000 and N100,000 and oppose this bill, you are the definition of stupidity. And you will never be wise in your life again.

So, mark all those opposing the bills. Take note of comments. It could be a clue to identifying illiterates you should avoid. Some of them may bring businesses to you later...you know what to do. They will ruin any good arrangement you make because they do not understand it and do not want to try. What do you do? Mark them now and avoid them because they are both time bombs and political prey.

Tinubu should give us state police.

That will be very beneficial especially to the Middle belt. It will also benefit SW, SS, SE, and even the core North.

National policing system don fail us. Each state having their police will be better and their orientation and philosophy will be totally different compared to the current one.

Last thing wey go happen, they won't re-elect him. But he will go down as the president that campaigned on restructuring and actually fulfilled most of the item and stayed true to the cause.
If this tax reform becomes reality or even regardless, Tinubu will still win them. I don't like Tinubu, but when I see most things he does, it's for the interest of the South, like buhari did with RUGA, petroleum bill act, etc.

Teejay2033:
Exactly! The case is already in court, and by all indications, Lagos and Rivers states will win. Every state government should look inward and stop depending on others.

Also, I hope President Tinubu will increase the 13% derivatives for host communities to 40%. It's essential that every state starts looking for alternative solutions. This is how to restructure the current system, where some states prioritize building mosques over factories. Instead of sponsoring pilgrimages with public funds, they should invest in training programs. President Tinubu, seems to get this one right, and I hope Southerners will support this bill wholeheartedly.
I might not like Tinubu, but any southerner that doesn't support this bill is a traitor.
