Literature › Let Us Help The Writers On Nairaland! by slap1(op): 8:08pm On Feb 23, 2010
I bliv that the best tribute we can pay a piece of literary work posted on this thread is to point out the places the writer needs to improve upon, not just saying good one, great, etc, as if the author should xpect a Booker Prize next! Let us read to find faults, let us read with a frown of concentration on our face rather than a nod of approval. I am not saying that we should condemn a good work, NO! Personally, I'd prefer someone points out the minutest "buts" in my works.

Now to the first poem. . . .I take it the piece aims at eulogizing the late Dina who obviously speaks for the indigent, hence the sobriquet, the gong. This given, I hold that you should have introduced the concept of the gong which speaks for the masses, bringing hope to the hopeless, love to the despised, etc. . . Only to become a captive of death! That way, we get to really bond with the whole set up. But introducing the gong at the very last line seem to hint that you are just eager to identify with the poem's title at all cost even without adequate elaboration. More importantly, it leaves a hungry hole which only the right words can fill. . .

Good one. It is indeed sad that the solution to this insidious conondrum insists upon the form of an insipid meal of words which, after all, places everything in situ.

I've seen d poster's pics b4. In spite of myself I believe this story. My broda, u will get help wella, even from peepz u don't xpect! Orji Kalu may even come to ur aid, directly or not! But shouldn't we also see the allegation(s)? Again, no matter what, I don't think it's right for u to call d gov by d names u do. Not because of his position, but because God does not want it, and u need both God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit to pursue ur case. So, gbado anya. God be wit u.
