Good day everyone. I'm really tired about life and all. I have a Muslim girl that have been dating for two years and all seems well until last month. Her family told me we are not compatible because I'm a Christian and she is a Muslim. I love her like that, am thinking of breaking up with her but I don't want to hurt. And something is telling me that I'm wasting my time because what if we don't end up getting married. I hate wasting my time for something I know it won't work, but yesterday I told her to Pls give me 2week off to let me think about my life and let me think maybe I can still continue with the relationship, seriously I really love her and I don't wish to loose her, Am I wrong telling her to give me 2 weeks to think. |
have heard a lot of people saying their parents doesn't like their partner. I'm not always happy with dat. because I have the right to marry anybody I want because is my life and whether the marriage is sweet or bitter its my problem and not anyone's own. I don't think parent should have a say when chosen ur partner they only have the right to advise you. not controlling u and telling who to marry. |
I know that Quran preach against interfaith marriage. it says [… Nor marry (your girls) to unbelievers until they believe: A man slave who believes is better than an unbeliever, even though he allures you. Unbelievers do (but) beckon you to the Fire. But Allah beckons by His Grace to the Garden (of bliss) and forgiveness, and makes His Signs clear to mankind: That they may celebrate His praise ] (Al-Baqarah 2: 221). I'm a proud Christian and have been dating my Muslim girlfriend for two years now. I wish to marry her because she has everything I want in a woman, I received a text message from her that we need to see. I took my shirt and I went to her house, when I got to her house she told me that her sister is complaining of our religion that we are not compatible, I was so broken because I don't want to loose her. her family knows me very well but I don't think they know I'm a Christian. I don't know what to do, i have been thinking about all this too, like 1)WHAT RELIGIOUS WILL THE CHILDREN PRACTICE, 2) WHICH RELIGIOUS NAME WILL THEY ANSWER. I just want to wait for the time to come first, have been asking my self since yesterday is religion a factor in marriage and how can I keep her, I really love her N:B. my family is not against us, once I'm happy with her dey are also happy. 2) I promise her if we get married she won't convert to Christian because I believe we are both serving the same God Pls advise |
hello everyone, how can I create a free blog site, I just want to make my self busy. before ASUU call off strike |
ASUU’ll call off strike next week, we’ll release N53bn — FG Meanwhile, Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, said yesterday, that the on-going strike by ASUU would be called off next week, adding that N53 billion would be released to the union. Speaking before the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND, led by Senator Jibrin Barau APC, Kano North, the Minister disclosed that the executive arm of government had commenced plans to ensure that it honoured the agreement with ASUU. The Minister, who noted that he had written to the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, for the money, disclosed that she had already approved the money, adding that the money would be paid on Monday when the striking lecturers would receive the cheque. He said: “ASUU asked for N23billion to be paid, but we said the condition for getting the N23billion was for them to account for the N30billion they had taken and they were not able to account for it. “The Minister of Finance undertook to do the audit from the ministry and we agreed that the result will be known in six months. During that six months, government undertook to be paying ASUU N1.5billion each month during the time they were waiting for this. ‘’However, their grouse was that the forensic audit promised by the Minister of Finance had not been done and the money promised not paid. “So, at our meeting two days ago, the agreement was to pay them all and do forensic audit on the entire N53billion. “That was what I tried to do yesterday (Wednesday). I wrote to the Minister of Finance and she has already approved and this money will be paid. Probably, by Monday, they will be able to receive the cheque. “We didn’t agree with ASUU on their request that TSA should be taken out. I told them that it is not possible because it is a new policy and government is not going to change it for anyone. “Concerning their salary short fall, we said the reason springs from universities employing people without proper authority. “For instance, a university can just decide to go and recruit 50 people without notifying IPPIS. So, what they are going to get is the money they got last month, which will not be sufficient for them. We have told them that institutions should, henceforth, stop doing that and they accepted. “There is the issue of registration of their pension commission. I think they have one or two issues to iron out with PENCOM and I believe they will also be able to solve the problem within a week. “The issue of renegotiation is already ongoing, which will not affect what we have said. I have already written a letter formalizing the meeting and all the agreements we had with ASUU and gave them the letter yesterday. “From the way they received it, I think it is possible that the strike will be called off within a week maximum.” Chairman of the Committee, Senator Jibrin Barau, commended the Minister for his efforts towards ensuring that the situation was resolved and the strike called off. sources:http://www.gist9aw.com.ng/2017/09/breakinggood-news-for-universities.html?m=1 |
The Academic Staff Union of Universities said it had yet to get invitation for negotiations with the Federal Government on its demands. ASUU President , Prof . Biodun Ogunyemi , said on Sunday that they were ready for talks and would attend any meeting called by the government to resolve the lingering strike which has paralysed academic activities in the universities . “ We have not received any invitation from the government , but we are ready for talks anytime they call us for negotiations , ” he said on the telephone . Asked if he believed the government was delaying the negotiation by not fixing a definite date for talks , Ogunyemi said the holidays might have been responsible for the lack of communication , adding that the government would likely schedule a meeting after the Sallah break . The News Agency of Nigeria had reported that the Minister of Labour and Employment , Chris Ngige , had said that negotiations between the FG would resume after the Eid- el - Kabir holiday . In a statement issued by Mr . Samuel Olowookere , Deputy Director ( Press) in the ministry , Ngige said the meeting would hold shortly after the holiday as requested by the leadership of ASUU . http://punchng.com/weve-not-received-fgs-invitation-for-negotiations-ASUU/ source: |

No fewer than four students of the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu, were injured on Monday in an attack unleashed by suspected cult members on a private students ’ hostel . PUNCH Metro learnt that the attackers stormed the hostel under the pretext of searching for a stolen laptop. They were, however , repelled by some occupants, who doubted their claim . They reportedly returned afterwards in large numbers , calling out the name of a National Diploma student . In the ensuing confusion , four students were said to have been injured and taken to a hospital for treatment . Our correspondent , during a visit to the hostel on Lasunwon Lambe Estate on Tuesday , gathered that the injured students attempted to defend the ND student , who had earlier complained of threats from some cult members who wanted to initiate him into their group . A witness , who identified himself only as Bayo , said , “ When they first came in the afternoon , they said they were searching for a missing item . They said the person that stole it passed through the estate . We engaged them and they failed in their attempt to gain entrance. “ Suddenly, around a few minutes past 9 pm , a larger group came and started calling the name of one of us in the hostel to come out . Immediately they called his name , we remembered that he once told us that some people were disturbing him to join a cult . Some of us went out and we asked others to stay with him in the hostel . Four of us were injured after confronting the cult members . ” The President of the Muslim Students ’ Society of Nigeria in Lagos State , Dr Saheed Ashafa , lamented that the hostel attacked was predominantly occupied by male Muslim students of the institution . He noted that the report sent to the MSSN in Lagos State by its LASPOTECH branch indicated that the attackers targeted a Muslim student in the hostel for initiation . He said , “ Our members in Ikorodu were attacked by cult members in their hostel last night ( Monday ) . According to the report sent to me early this morning ( Tuesday ) , they were trying to initiate a Muslim student , so they wanted to intimidate students in the hostel where he resides to get their way . “ I was informed that they had been threatening him in the school with the support of a lecturer. They had access to the hostel at first by claiming that they were searching for their missing laptop. They later went there in a large number . Some students sustained injuries, but have been treated and discharged . ” Ashafa said the incident had been reported to the school management and the police authorities . source :http://punchng.com/four-injured-as-cult-attacks-laspotech-students-hostel-2/ |
Former President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Nasir Isa; President of ASUU, Biodun Ogunyemi; and the Vice President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, at a news conference on the state of the nation in Abuja on Monday (14/8/17). Albert otu/JAU/NAN John Alechenu , Fidelis Soriwei , Friday Olokor , Folashade Adebayo and Adelani Adepegba There are strong indications that the Federal Executive Council will, at its meeting on Wednesday (today ) decide on the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr . Chris Ngige , who gave this indication in an interview with journalists on Tuesday , said the university lecturers had deliberated on the offers made to them by the government at a meeting on August 17 . Also , the union , in a statement on Tuesday , said it would call off its strike after receiving a positive response to its demands from the Federal Government. The lecturers boycotted a meeting which was scheduled to hold between the government and the union on Tuesday . ASUU , on August 13 , began a nationwide strike over the failure of the Federal Government to implement an agreement it reached with the union in 2009 . The union also alleged that the Federal Government did not implement the Memorandum of Understanding the two sides signed in 2013 . Based on the 2009 agreement , the demands of ASUU include funding for the revitalisation of public universities ; payment of earned academic allowances ; and the registration of the Nigerian Universities Pension Management Company and pension matters. At the meeting on August 17 , it was learnt the Federal Government offered to pay the union N23 bn and carry out an audit of N30 bn earlier given to the university lecturers . It was also gathered that government rejected a request by ASUU that universities should be exempted from the Treasury Single Account, but agreed to set up an interest - bearing account for university endowments . Ngige , in the interview with journalists explained why ASUU did not attend a meeting it was scheduled to hold with the government on Tuesday . He said the union , in a letter dated August 28 , stated that it had considered offers made by the government and made its counter -offer . The minister said the Federal Government would deliberate on the union ’ s counter - offer . “ Tomorrow ( today , Wednesday ) is Federal Executive Council meeting and there are aspects that we will need FEC approval to go on with . Thereafter , we will meet with the ASUU team either tomorrow evening or Thursday morning , whichever will be more convenient , ” Ngige added . The labour minister explained that the government side was expected to discuss the ASUU ’ s counter - offer in order to hold a meeting with the lecturers ’ body to resolve the areas of disagreement . He stated , “The government , as you know , has made an offer to ASUU through the ministry of education and late yesterday (Monday ) ASUU got back to us with their counter - offer . “ By then , this meeting had been scheduled and the government side needed to deliberate on their counter -offer before we can have a reconciliation meeting to further discuss areas of disagreement . That is the position right now . “ We are holding a government side meeting , while the Minister of Education is also holding meeting and we will meet later today ( Tuesday ) and formalise our position. ” We ’ re awaiting FG’s response , says ASUU But in the statement on Tuesday , the union explained why it boycotted the Tuesday ’ s meeting with the Federal Government. It stated that government ’ s positive response to its demand would bring the strike to an end. The union , in a statement by its President , Prof . Biodun Ogunyemi , referred the government to its letter dated August 28 , 2017 , where it expressed its demands. The government had, in a statement on Monday night , announced that Ngige would meet with the president and executive members of ASUU in Abuja . In its statement on Tuesday , ASUU said it was awaiting a positive response to its demands, thanking Nigerians for their understanding . It read , “ Following due consultation , we have collated the views of our members on the offers from government in dispute in the letter dated August 16 . These views were submitted to FG vide our letter dated August 28 . “ As we await the Federal Government’ s action on our letter , we hope that it would not be long before we receive a positive response which will bring an end to the dispute . ” When asked why his team failed to show up for the meeting with the government , Ogunyemi declined comment , referring one of our correspondents to his statement . Ogunyemi also refused to disclose the contents of ASUU ’ s counter - offer to the government in a telephone interview with The PUNCH on Tuesday . He stated , “ We submitted our report to the FG yesterday ( Monday ) but we can ’ t discuss that with the press now . What they have promised us is that they were going to get back to us as soon as possible . ’’ However , a source told one of our correspondents that what the union presented to the FG on Monday was not new . “ Our demands are not new and they include the revitalisation fund that we have been asking for , the retirement of academics with the full complement of their salaries and others. Nothing is new , ’’ said the source . Senate calls for patience, continuous dialogue Meanwhile , the Chairman , Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs , Sabi Abdullahi , has called for patience as the Federal Government and ASUU seek an amicable solution to the strike embarked upon by the lecturers . Sabi said this in a telephone interview with The PUNCH in Abuja on Tuesday . He said the Senate , being a responsible institution , was concerned about the crisis and was intervening in the dispute to assist in bringing about a lasting solution to the crisis in the education sector. He stated , “ If you remember, Senator Barau Jibrin has been on this matter despite the fact that we are on recess . This issue is about continuous engagement but as you know , the bulk of the issue is not with us (The Senate) . “ I will just call on Nigerians to be patient with us because of this holiday . I am sure after Sallah , when we are all on the ground, things will begin to take shape . ” NANS summons emergency meeting Also , the National Association of Nigerian Students has summoned an emergency meeting to deliberate on its next line of action on the ongoing strike by ASUU . The meeting , it was learnt , would deliberate on the strike and other issues of critical national importance and take a position on the way forward . The students also called on the Federal Government and ASUU to engage in constructive discussion to resolve the lingering issues that led to the declaration of the strike. It called on the parties to “ save the education sector and the future of Nigerian students in the interest of the nation. ” The President of NANS , Chinonso Obasi , said this in an interview with The PUNCH on Tuesday . Obasi stated that NANS would await the outcome of the meeting between government and ASUU to determine its next line of action . He said , “ We have fixed an emergency meeting of NANS , which will give approval to the action of NANS upon the expiration of the 21 days ultimatum given for the ASUU strike to be called off. “ The meeting is scheduled to hold on September 7 in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital . ” NANS decried the incessant and prolonged strikes as one of the factors responsible for the falling standard of education in Nigeria apart from the attendant untold hardship on the students , parents and guardians. Obasi said , “ Incessant strikes and stoppage of academic activities as a result of lack of agreements or lack of adherence and implementation of duly - executed memorandum of agreement between the Federal Government and ASUU do not reflect and demonstrate commitment to the sustainable development of the nation’ s education sector and the development of the nation’ s human capital . “ We are calling on the government and ASUU to demonstrate sensitivity and a great sense of patriotism in resolving the issues at the earliest convenience to save education in the nation and avert unfortunate developments associated with the idleness of young people. ” source: http://punchng.com/fg-decides-on-asuus-demands-today-as-union-shuns-meeting/ |
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has said that its 120 cut - off mark will put an end to back - door admission and other unwholesome practices associated with gaining admission into higher institutions of learning. It added that it had introduced a Central Admissions and Processing System to monitor compliance with the minimum prescribed cut - off mark and other admission guidelines, as well as empower candidates to track the process of admission . The Head of Public Affairs , JAMB , Mr . Fabian Benjamin , said this in a statement made available to our correspondent on Monday . According to the statement , high cut -off mark is responsible for the flight of many Nigerians to “ glorified secondary schools called universities ” in neighbouring countries and an increased pressure on the naira to pay school fees in foreign currencies . The statement added , “ The cut - off marks previously brandished to the public were never strictly followed by most institutions. Some were going behind to admit candidates with far less scores , while others admitted candidates who never sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination . “ This act , to say the least , is very distasteful and damaging to our national data and identity . Unfortunately , the public has been kept away from this fact for such a long time and now that we are saying it the way it is and working to address it, the public is criticising us and using non - existing parameters that only announced and not followed . ’’ Adding that the JAMB would not relent in “supporting policies that would bring our education system out of the woods’’ , the statement said that it would pursue the quest to ensure realistic benchmarks for national development. “ It is necessary to explain that the 120 cut - off mark does not in any way suggest that if you score 120 admission is guaranteed. Institutions will admit from the top to the least mark . It’ s also a known fact that for you to study a course , say Hausa , in Nigerian universities , you will need a credit in Mathematics . However in London , all you will need is a credit in Hausa and English . This and many other poorly thought - out policies have pushed frustrated candidates out of Nigeria to the developed and neighbouring African nations for education , which they could not get at home . “ The issue that all of us should be concerned about is how to address the flight of Nigerians to glorified secondary schools called universities in Ghana , Uganda, even in The Gambia and other countries . How do we ensure that whatever we do has positive multiplier effects on other sectors of the economy , if we deny our candidates the opportunity to school in Nigeria ? , ’’ it added . source:http://punchng.com/schools-admitted-candidates-who-didnt-sit-for-utme-jamb/ |
There are indications that the Academic Staff Union of Universities may meet with the Federal Government this week over the ongoing strike by the union . The ASUU strike which started on Sunday , August 13 , 2017 was announced by its National President , Prof . Biodun Ogunyemi , at a meeting of the National Executive Council of the union in Abuja. It was learnt on Sunday that the union would present its position to the government on the offers made by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige , during their meeting on August 17 , 2017 in Abuja . A source explained that the ASUU meeting , which held on Saturday at the University of Abuja , discussed whether to suspend the strike on the basis of the offers made by the government . The FG had during the meeting with ASUU leadership in Abuja offered to pay N23 bn and a monthly payment of N1 . 5 bn pending the outcome of the forensic audit being carried out by the Ministry of Finance . It could not be immediately ascertained if the money had been paid as promised by the government . Our correspondent gathered that over 80 per cent of the union members across the country voted that the strike should continue until the government fulfilled its part of the bargain. The source said , “ The ASUU meeting which held last Saturday at UniAbuja discussed the offers made by the government and whether the strike should be called off on the basis of the offers made by the government . “ It was decided that ASUU might seek an audience with the government this week to negotiate further concessions before the strike is called off. ” The ASUU President , Prof . Biodun Ogunyemi , could not be reached for comment as he did not respond to calls and SMS to his phone. Meanwhile , The PUNCH gathered on Sunday that university lecturers who were employed after 2010 would not benefit from the N23 bn Earned Academic Allowances released by the Federal Government. A source in ASUU in the South- West, who did not his name in print , said that lecturers engaged after 2010 would not be beneficiaries . The source said , “ There was an ASUU NEC meeting held on Friday in Abuja . Our zonal chairmen would be briefed on the outcome of deliberations on the NEC meeting particularly on the N23 bn which was offered by the Federal Government. “ The about nine zones of ASUU will be meeting on Monday ( today ) to brief their members on the outcome of their deliberations concerning the ongoing strike over the 2009 agreement by the Federal Government. “ Top on the agenda to be discussed includes the N23 bn which the government had recently agreed to pay . The N23 bn is the arrears of 2009 and 2010 . So , anybody that was employed after 2010 may not even benefit from it because that person did not earn it. The money is called Earned Academic Allowance, so you must have worked for the money and earned it. “ The money is just like overtime and it is paid for somebody that had done that work , not the normal working hours . It is earned and (exclusively ) for 2009 and 2010 . The Federal Government made an offer and collected views from all branches as to what they will do concerning the N23 bn offer. ” source:http://punchng.com/ASUU-to-meet-fg-again-on-strike/ |
