PoliticsRe: ‘They Will Labour To Death’ — Tinubu Hits PDP, LP At APC Mega Rally In Osun by SledgeHammerer: 8:26pm On Jul 12, 2022
pleasureosondu:
Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has taken a dig at opposition parties participating in the forthcoming Osun governorship election.

The Osun election is scheduled to hold on July 16.

Gboyega Oyetola, the incumbent governor, is the flagbearer of the APC, while Ademola Adeleke is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Other candidates are Lasun Yusuf of Labour Party (LP), Akin Ogunbiyi of Accord, and Goke Omigbodun of Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The former governor of Lagos, who spoke at the Osun APC mega rally on Tuesday, described the PDP and LP as “mushroom parties”.

“I ask you to please do the same thing you did in Ekiti. Come out with your PVCs and vote massively for APC,” he said.

“The voting is now in your hand. Be very vigilant. Be watchful. You will not do it in vain.

“Think about your children and vote accordingly so you can see the future. Come out en masse. Don’t mind PDP and other mushroom parties — parties like Labour; they will labour till they die. God will not make you labourers.

“You’re next. We will be here till tomorrow. We will come back here for victory dance. Look at the trajectory of our lives. We make promises and fulfil them. We are the ones upholding the party, the Buhari party. Don’t answer the naysayers.”

Good to hear this from a very high ranking christian leader. I won't be surprised if he's threatened to withdraw his statement later like they did to Bornu CAN chairman but CAN will not be there when people will be voting.
Politics2023: I’m Attracted To Shettima’s Qualities — President, Catholic Bishops’ Confe by SledgeHammerer(op): 8:05pm On Jul 12, 2022
2023: I’m Attracted To Shettima’s Qualities — President, Catholic Bishops’ Conference.

The President, Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama, has said former Borno governor, Kashim Shettima, is not myopic and narrow-minded.

Kaigama said this following the emergence of Shettima as the running mate of the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The Archbishop who spoke in Maiduguri over the weekend siad Shettima was one who was broad and fair to adherents of all religious groups as testified by Christian leaders from all denominations living in Borno.

His words: “I have met Governor Shettima at different Fora, and I must say I have been very much attracted to his personality. He is not the narrow-minded and myopic kind of leader. He is a leader whose vision is broad and whose hands are large enough to embrace everybody.‎ He is also very humble.

“I told His Eminence, the Cardinal, that in some places we go, we have to wait for two hours or three in order to meet some government personalities but in Borno State, the Governor was the one receiving us and bringing us in. We came from different parts of Nigeria, and we are Catholic Bishops.

“It is our tradition to meet always, to interact, to pray, and to express solidarity with ourselves and those who are in need. We are a voice for the people. Our voice is a prophetic voice. We see where things are good, we say it so. Where things are bad, we say it so.

“This is our mission and today we are in Borno State. We are truly overwhelmed with what we have seen. I can tell you we are already convinced that Borno State is on
a very high level gear of progress. ‎They say seeing is believing. We have come, we have seen, and we are convinced there’s a lot of good happenings here.

“Despite all the negative stories about terrorist attacks and so on, there are determined people on ground who have a capable leader in the person of the Governor determined to forge ahead, to inspire peaceful coexistence to encourage people to transcend the temporary obstacles in order that they can build a very solid and vibrant State.

“We are witnesses, and I can tell you we shall go from here to Lagos to Ibadan to Onitsha to Calabar to Lokoja to Abuja to tell this story” Archbishop Kaigama said.

This is why I said Tinubu got his strategy absolutely right. All those resigning because they wanted christian vice are people who can't win their constituencies for Tinubu when the chips are down.

The analyst overated Peter Obi. Enugu,Abia,Imo will be won by pdp but with slight margins because Obi will eat deeply into their votes. Anambra should go to Obi, Ebonyi will be a battle ground.
Pdp should win Abuja slightly. Plateau, Benue should go to pdp. Kaduna, jigawa, katsina should go to Apc. Kebbi and Edo will be battle grounds. Cross river should go to pdp. Apc will win Kano with slight margin. Nasarawa will be a battle ground. Rivers will go to pdp. Zamfara to Apc.

Peter Obi will end up destroying the chances of Atiku and PDP. That's precisely what will happen. He'll deplete the votes of Atiku and PDP in the south east and south south.

You're obviously a fool from womb. Let me highlight your inherited foolishness. Firstly is that the Osun governor is not a christian but a muslim. Secondly, the issue is not pension but compensation for demolished houses for a road built by Aregbesola another muslim 9yrs ago. In addition, all these are issues that are not peculiar to any religion or region. It happens in both christian and muslim governed states both in the south and north.

Finally, you're such a certified dunce. Your brain is fried. Tuehhhhhhhh.......I spit on your cursed empty block head. I'm done with you.

Sometimes I wonder why it's most of the Christian ruled states that suffer their people this way. Imagine, not longer than 2 months ago that even Rivers approved for payment of pensioners.
It's hard seeing this coming from North, and after they'll be preaching us religion. Osun deserves better just like other states like Benue, Kogi, Cross River...

Demolition: Protesters Barricade Osun Govt House Over Non-payment Of Compensation

Some property owners along Old Garage, MDS and Fakunle areas of Osogbo, Osun State capital, on Monday staged a peaceful protest over non-payment of over N1bn compensation nine years after the state government demolished their properties.

The protesters barricaded the gate of the Government House in Osogbo, the state capital while the protest lasted, wielded placards with inscriptions such as ‘Osun govt, pay our compensation;’ ‘Oyetola, you are a man of your words, fulfil your promise;’ ‘Oyetola, pls save our souls;’ amongst others.

They said the State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, promised to pay their compensation in instalments when he assumed office.

Speaking on behalf of the affected property owners, the leader of the protesters, Funke Afolabi, said over 600 shops belonging to them located along Old Garage/MDS/Fakunle axis in Osogbo, were demolished by the state government in 2013 for the expansion of road.

She said, “Enumeration and valuation were carried out by officials of the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning for payment of compensation.”

“Unfortunately, the compensation was not paid by the Aregbesola-led government in spite of a series of letters of reminder and visitations to him.

“On assumption of office of the Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Isiaka Oyetola, in 2019, a courtesy visit was paid to him by all the affected claimants. At the meeting, the governor stated that compensation would be paid in tranches to all the claimants.

“It is disturbing to note that approval has been given for compensation to be paid to a section of the claimants with the exclusion of claimants from Old Garage, MDS, Olaiya Junction and Fakunle Area. This development negates the principle of equity, justice and fairness. Over 600 shops were affected and we are being owed about N1 billion compensation, “Afolabi said.

She then appealed to Oyetola to revisit the issue with a view to compensate the property owners for the losses they incurred.

Reacting, Engr Remi Omowaye, the Commissioner for Works and Transport, said the protesters should be patient, adding that government would reach out to them once the resources is available.

Omowaye said though the demolition was done by the last administration to pave way for Osogbo-Ikirun-Ilaodo road projects, but since government is continum, the compensation will be paid.

” We have been engaging them that the compensation will be paid when the resources is available.

“Although, the demolition was done by the last administration, but since government is continum, we will strive to pay once the resources is available.

“The should be patient”, he said.

Consensus Candidate: I'm President Buhari Choice - Lawan Speaks (Video)

Recall that Adamu Monday evening announced Lawan as the consensus candidate of the party for the 2023 presidential contest.

Video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTXxadKzUMw

The endorsement was however seen as a unilateral decision and against the support of the members of the NWC and APC governors who had asked that the presidential ticket be zoned to the southern part of the country.

The Chief Whip of the 9th Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, last night, said that the National Working Committee, NWC of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC will present Senator Ahmed Lawan to President Muhammadu Buhari as President candidate of the party for his endorsement.

Orji who has since thrown his weight behind the aspiration of Lawan said that APC national chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu made the right decision by chosing the Senate President as the consensus candidate of the party.

“Sen. Abdulahi Adamu, has through a vigorous evaluation of all our able and qualified candidates, decided in the interest of our party and the future wellbeing of millions of Nigerians who look to our party for continuous leadership,  decided that Senator Ahmed  Lawan is the strongest and most suitable candidate to be the flag bearer of our party in the upcoming Presidential election.
