@ babasin Thanks for the url. I just checked it out and it seems quite detailed. Presently, i have suse 9 or 10 on one system but i plan to install solaris 10 on another. I'll install the oracle on both. As per the motive, i'll pick all of the above. Play, learn and get a real ;DI'm presently working with oracle but i believe no knowledge is useless. I work with oracle on windows but i heard oracle on unix is out of this world. I've played around with it for a day but i want to be a pro like you and several others on this thread. I'll definitly let you know if i have any bottle necks. Meanwhile, how can i lay my hands on an oracle on unix cd. Can "otigba" do the trick? Thanks once again ![]() |
Hi alexis, I'm sorry about the virus issue. If its the virus i'm suspecting i.e a trojan-gen, the run disappears and the virus duplicates the internet explorer icon on your desktop and start up menu. you must first install an antivirus. AVG home edition is good, but i use avast home edition. its free and can be downloaded from www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html www.download.com/Avast-Home-Edition/3000-2239_4-10375520.html . When installing, don't install to the default location which is the c drive. The virus has a way of destroying some vital files there so the antivirus wont work properly. Create a folder on the desk top and install to the folder. Then scan. After that, use the windows cd and repair your system as follows C:\chkdsk /r Restoring your system may not solve the problem cos the virus also blocks that. After restoring and the system reboots, the system would tell you that the restore operation could not work. So restoring may be out of it. You may have to manually delete the duplicated internet explorer icon from the desktop and start menu. You may also have to manually change your internet explorer home page as follows: open the internet explorer page, click on tools, internet options, and under home page, click on "use blank". It you are in the IT dept, from your system, scan all the computers on your network. If your company runs on a unix or linux server, the virus won't affect the server. Wish you the best and hope this does not affect your job |
@ cabali, best of luck in your certification. @everyone, you guys are quite good. i actually learnt a lot. Seems i'm the only female in the chat at the moment. I work with oracle on windows, but i want to start working on unix. I'm okay at linux. Suse to be precise. Is installing oracle on linux same as installing on windows and if not, what must i configure my system(the detailed process) I've already installed suse. Also, can i use the same oracle installation cd for windows and linux? |
@ Tmoni Thanks a mill for the info. I bought GTbank at 5.30 and zenith at 10.60. I'll see my stock broker this week. I might fling or still hold on to the GTbank. haven't decided yet. But I'll definitely fling the zenith. ![]() @frank I like your acronym for PDP. Kinda cool . Its terrible that we have a govt that imposes their candidates on us. In my state, Anambra state, there were no electoral officers and materials so no election took place. I anticipated it and that was y i bought transcorp. Sort of like turning lemon to lemon juice. thanks for all the contributions though@ cheexy, thanks for your contributions too. U've been quite helpful. I enjoy reading your posts. @everyone , i bought CCNN at N13. I have made 100% but I'm still hoping they would rise. Fundamental analysis is not on their side but the Nigerian mentality is. The price is dropping. Should i fling or wait a bit. Is it greed or am i trying to maximise profit? Does anyone know when their report is coming out? |
Meanwhile, wat do you all think about vono.read this article about them buying machinery and planning 2 expand. watchatink |
@ iyke D,thanks 4 d prayer for transcorp.i'm sweating here, but loving d game. I'm banking on d fact dat naija would always b Naija.i agree wit cheexy dat there is a conspiracy and i hope they conspire very well.in my beloved country, anything can happen.pls dont think i have money 2 waste but life is a risk. I'm loving d game.(pls pay no attention 2 me.i can afford 2 blab now cos d price has been shifted up to N9.71 :-) @ frank, i started following nascon since Jan wen it was N6.00 .fundamental analysis is good, but bros, nigeria is too much. I personally feel Dangote has d midas touch.any stock he touches turns into gold.so i watch d stock. D price goes up cos people believe in him.benue cement was a big lesson 4 me. In my country, anything can happen so i shine my eyes well well. |
Thanks Cheexy. |
Alright, its too late to cry over spilt milk. I happened to be one of those that bought transcorp from the sec market. I got into the country a few days before their tech suspension would be lifted and since i like taking risks, i bought it. High risks, high returns or high losses. I have started adding them to my prayer points. Its bad cos i advised someone to invest in it too and now, alarm wan blow. Personally, i won't invest more cos I'm managing my losses, but i won't sell either. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best. Meanwhile, the stock market is presently experiencing a bullish trend, but my advice is this, "know everything you can about a company before you invest". As my friend says,"bulls and bears make money, sheep get slaughtered". Don't follow the crowd like a sheep. Meanwhile, does anyone know anything about grommac? |
