According to a Facebook user, Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello hired hoodlums to block road that leads to Lokoja the state capital. Details...... Its most unfortunate, the Governor Bello refused to pay Kogi State Civil servants, yet mobilized hoodlums to block lokoja road thinking Senator Dino is bringing Rice donated by Nigerian Senators. Very clear now that the KOGI state Governor have missed the road to his crisis acclaimed new direction. The NLC and other labour bodies, the Presidency and Apc national are watching the power drunk supplementary Governor has he's turning a supposed Democratic governance into military regime. Kogi civil servants shall not die again and their labour will not go in vein. They've worked, they've laboured, they equally deserve their wages/ salary. Therefore, they shall secure victory at the end over the political pharaohs inside govt house in the name of the father, and of the son and of the holy spirit.

Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has ordered striking workers in the state to resume work on Tuesday, October 24. The state Commissioner for Education, Dr Tolorunleke made this known on social media today. According to Tolorunleke, the governor has directed that workers who fail to resume work should be sacked and replaced with new staff from within or outside Kogi state. “A directive from His Excellency that as from tommorow 24th Oct, 2017. Any officer not in the office should count himself not in the service of Kogi state and the Ministry to search for replacement within or outside to replace accordingly. “With this, all staff concerned are therefore advised in their own interest to report to work and stay on duty as usual,” he said. http://kogireports.com/sack-and-replace-workers-who-fail-to-resume-tomorrow-kogi-gov/ |

Ordinarily, we wont have dignified the Kogi State Government with a response, but in the face of monumental deceit, it would be a crime to keep quiet and not respond to his fallacious allusions on the 71-pages Newspaper Advert where the state Government and its Governor spent 44 million on publication, when the average Kogi civil and public servants are dying of hunger. The publication is laughable and a waste of time. It is a bigger crime to try and deceive the collectively of the people with their funds, by publishing a one sided and doctored publication. Posterity will not be kind to such people. It is totally uncalled for and a total waste of scarce resources. If you have actually paid salaries and entitlements of workers, why are all Kogi State Ministries, Departments and Agencies under locks and Key on the order of the NLC? Is it possible that all the civil and public servants are “Political Workers” as opined by the Governor? How possible is that? How will a Government, whose workforce is on strike, perform optimally? For the purpose of transparency, we want the Government to respond as a matter of urgency to the following issues: 1. Since Government is a continuum, let the Government publish the wage bill of Kogi state civil service of September 2015 and that of July 2017 respectively. 2. The total Federal Government Allocation received from January 2016 to September 2017. 3. The total amount of the following: a. Bailout Funds b. Paris Club Refunds 4. Names of workers paid and amount on monthly basis from September 2015 to July 2017. 5. Names of cleared but not paid workers and amount due to them on monthly basis from October 2015 to July 2017 6. Name of pensioners not paid but cleared in monthly basis from October 2015 till July 2017. (All the above should include the amount due to them on monthly basis against their names) 7. Internally generated revenue from January 2016 till September 2017 and how it has been expended. We are aware of Governments gimmick; it is to mislead the Federal Government into releasing funds to its coffers. We call on the Federal Government, not to fall for such cheap buffoonery. If proper account is not rendered on the usage of previous released funds, no further funds should be released to the Kogi State Government. When all these questions are responded to and calculations made by the public, then we shall agree that the governor is transparent one and has judiciously expended its resources. However, until then, the Government should go ahead to pay its workers and stop giving excuse. Workers in Kogi have appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to rescue them from their current hardship resulting from non-payment of their salaries, by sending them food, drugs and other materials. The workers made the appeal on Wednesday in Lokoja in a statement jointly issued by the state chapters of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress and the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council. Messrs Olakunle Faniyi, Kolawole James and Isah Abubakar, Secretaries of NLC, TUC and JPSNC respectively, signed the statement which was circulated to media houses. The workers appealed to President Buhari to direct the National Emergency Management Agency and other humanitarian agencies to supply them food and other relief materials. The civil servants said they were being owed between 11 and 21-month salaries and that the situation had become unbearable. They urged the Presidency to consider the condition of their children who had been sent out of school because they could no longer pay their school fees. “The situation of workers in the state is worse than the condition of the Internally Displaced Persons in various camps. “The agony of the workers is not in any way less than the experiences of victims of natural disasters. ”A situation where workers cannot afford even one meal a day and pay the school fees of their children is already a humanitarian issue. “As it stands today, over 30 per cent of the workforce is owed 21 months’ salaries. Twenty per cent have unpaid salaries of between 11 and 18 months, while about 45 per cent took their salaries up till June this year. “These are the category of workers the Kogi State Government is forcing to embrace the ‘clock-in, clock-out’ work policy,” the labour leaders said. The civil servants also implored the indigenes of the state at home and abroad to show concern and assist in whatever form they could. Workers in the state had, on September 22, embarked upon an indefinite strike to press home their demand for payment of their salary arrears. In response, Director-General, Media and Publicity, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, said the Yahaya Bello government had yet to enter into negotiations with labour over their demands. Fanwo said this was because the signatories to the strike notice were unknown to government. He faulted labour’s claim on salary arrears, saying that they were out to misinform the public for selfish reasons. He urged workers to disregard the labour’s directive to go on strike.
