@Shawn5ng, You can do as your friend has advised. pls don't quite your job yet until you come and succeed. How ever, from my experience, banking jobs are not easily accessible to us. The indigenous natives and Indians are more into banking so if you ask me, I will say come but don't dwell on banking job alone if not, you will be disappointed. Try and leave your choice open and pray to Baba God for the best. |
@ Neyozak, what your friend has told you is OK but as soon as he starts asking for money to process this or that, wear your racing shoes. |
@ Alpea, you have a good chance of landing a good job becos of your foreign certificate, but the truth is, you have to be on ground here to get the job because there are lots of people already here that have better certificates yet they are still queuing for jobs so it would be very difficult to get from Niaja becos there are lots and lots of qualified people here okay? Besides, the job market here gives preference to USA, Europe, China, Indian, the rest of the white race, before considering black Africans. This is the reality. |
@ nibblekenny yes. |
Just be warned and be informed that 90% jobs we get as Africans are all 2years contract nothing more, nothing less. Don't allow any agent to talk you into 1year or half year contract, when your money gets into there hands and you arrive here to see reality, NOBODY will be with you to cry even your agent will desert you. Mark my words. |
@Menix, you cannot get something better after a year because your contract will be for 2years it means that you will have to work for that period first before changing job or you continue with your previous company with a bit of pay rise. |
Just let it slide and get yourself a two months visa and come over and see things for yourself. Even here in the UAE there are dozens and trailer loads of dubious agents waiting to dupe newbies, so you must be very careful while on ground here. Best wishes though. |
Pls. don't pay such an amount to anybody, already he is on ground what people normally charge here is between 800 and 2000dhs. but you must be sure whom you give it to. warn him seriously. |
@ Facosco, this is one reason I advice people to patronise agents that are willing to help them secure employment. Be that as it may, he has to rely on info from Nigerians about jobs but he will be asked to pay some money, but he should insist on writing an agreement with who ever, with fotocopies of the persons ids, before parting with any cash . Most times it is the best way to get a job, other times, niajas here, will run with your money. Another thing he can do is to change his choice of job, maybe that will also work for him. In all, he shd be prayerful, UAE and job is like this some times. |
you are welcome |
@ Harrykunle, In the UAE |
I think career, business and jib go hand in hand. what is the problem with the post here. |
@ unikazzy, I have spoken with her when I saw her post. but we have not met. As far it has to do with paying money you have to be very careful. If I should advice u, it is better u arrive here first and see things yourself before doling out cash. |
still here |
@Csilver1, do you mean jobs in the UAE or here in Niaja? becos you used the word constantly. |
@ juzzybabe, just take heart be strong and prayerful. Every thing that has a beginning must have an end.For the sake of Love and the child hold on and wait for your husbands next move. But the truth is you really need some space for yourself like working to assist your hubby and the child but since the family is negative against it, just stay put and hold on for Gods time. It is well with your soul. |
@ Samuelkings, Mass comm jobs are available but not for blacks. They prefer to use white skinned peeps for their communication jobs plus there is also lots of vacancy for internet based journalism and advertising jobs but you have to be experienced to benefit. No, you cannot do 2 jobs @ a go. Owning a biz is possible but expensive as per registering with the Emerate. Pay is from 1000 dhs. depending on the job and state. |
@ juzzybabe, you are welcome. For the sake of love and marriage just bear with him but if you cannot, he can get you a small accommodation outside his family house. All in all, time will take care of it all. Be strong and be encouraged. |
@ Zuzzybaby, all your husband has told you is the truth and nothing but the truth. So just bear with him and pray for him to finish his 2years contract, get a better job, and be financialy bouyant to either invite you as a wife,or assist you get a job to do especially as a teacher, but that will be when you are strong enough and baby is big enough for school. |

@ Tunnex, the jobs include cleaning, waiter, security etc salaries is from 1000 to 2000dhs depending on the company. |
@ tunnex, it is not very easy if you put your mind @ a particular job. But if your options are open and you think you can do any job especially menial jobs, then yes it is easy to come by. |
Still here |
@ tunnex 190, The truth is you are already neck deep into the visa issue with your agent. My advise is for you to be sure he or she is trusted because there are lots of fraudulent agents on this UAE route. |
@ zinicc, life is not calculated on the calculator neither is job always. The truth about living abroad is that wheat her you like it or not, there is always a long term gain, if not for you, maybe your kids. I have seen people who work here in the UAE on commission basis, without salaries and yet, they are able to beat the odds for the 2 year period and begin on a clean slate. You never can say what God holds for u, though the salary might be small, he can open several other ways of business for you that you don't expect. The most important thing is to be sincere, focused and avoid fraudulent deals and persons, I can assure you that in no time your story will change. |
@ tunnex, there is nothing like 2 months work visa pls. you only have two months visit/ tourist visas, and two years work permit which is after or when you have gotten a job. If what you have is a two years work permit issued in Abu Dhabi, it means you will work in Abu Dhabi. Average salary for waiter starts from 1000dhs to maybe 1500dhs. Travel visas all over the world do not carry job specification and all that, except a work permit .I have my doubts though. But it will be better you check out the authenticity of the visa from the airline you intend flying with before you buy your ticket pls. I beg of you. Do that first and come back then we shall continue from there. |
@ etech, you are very correct. |
@ unikazzy, there is quite a number of free job sites you can tap into through Google, so why do you have to pay? |
@ kakashi. yes it is easier than applying from. |
http://dubaiofw.com/chalhoub- group-uae-careers-october-2014/ , sorry I couldn't get the site back, try this also. For the accommodation. you can get on arrival if you have a contact that can help you get it down. if not, you can spend just one night in a hotel and use the rest of the day to look for accommodation. |
