sadly u need to educate yourself.... I'll only educate the public.... this labour action has always been about improved pay package and not pay parity with Doctors, employment of more hands and adjustment of retirement age for JOHESU members..... all which are fair and the doctors are currently enjoying but sadly it was derailed by some elements that claims this strike is about supremacy and pay parity, which it was never about....
this health care sector is in chaos today because some elements feel it's their birth right to feed large while others feed on left overs.... even if we can't eat 2 plates of food, we deserve at least a plate cause we are all professionals in the health field, instead of left overs on the floor!!!
The point is that, your post wasn't educative enough, until I read what obi4eze write about your post, so that's for you to deal with
HealthRe: Press Briefing By Johesu Held On Thursday May 17, 2018 by SmallmebigGod: 9:18pm On May 17, 2018
obi4eze:
JOHESU is just trying to tell the masses that the strike is as a result of this Government's insensitivity and insincerity. JOHESU exhausted the negotiation procedures before going on strike.

The doctors have had their salaries increased 3 times since 2014 but those of others have not been increased.
The last time the JOHESU went on strike was in September last year. The FG agreed and released a circular to implement the agreement within 5 weeks but nothing was done. They gave the FG six months within which they wrote letters to the Presidency and Ministry of Health but there was no response.

At the moment, the FG is offering less than one-third of the amount it will cost to adjust CONHESS (22 billion) but JOHESU has refused to budge.

So who is fooling who?
You just gave a comprehensible explanation which by the way its different from The OP and his post . That been said I wish Johessu all the best in their dialogue and negotiations. And to address one of the issue you raised, I am a doctor, and my salary as only been adjusted or increased once since 2014 you cited. And some Johessu members got some adjustment within that same period (I don't have full details on this ).
I am going to respond on the relativity and parity soon

what do u care about?.....you obviously don't care about the patients who can't access health care, cause if u did u won't be asking why this should be moved to front page!
Just explain how the post will lead to bringing back health care access to the public. Educate me pls

Yes, we will surely get humanitarians doing your job. You think every doctor is as greedy as you? How much did you pay through medical school, can you compare this to what medical students are paying in US, UK or Canada? Ungrateful beings, go abroad na, why you telling us, just go!
Your humanitarian doctors are being paid higher than the doctors in their home countries, with full life insurance and other benefits. I am sure you will cooperate more with the 'humanitarian doctors' because by then they will be the one stating their terms and conditions of service

My dear everyone in Nigeria wants to relocate cos of greener pastures, its not exclusive to doctors alone. Its all about the money and comfortability. If that is all the reason you read medicine, pls don't frustrate yourself by staying back. But I bet you some people out there are still reading medicine because they care and want to better the lives of humanity. I mean why do we still have doctors without borders, I'm sure it not because of the money.
Its not all about money, but if your work demands much from you, then the same work should appreciate you enough, with good working conditions ,good pay, etc just like doctors working with 'Doctors without border' enjoy. Meanwhile there are many Doctors working in war zones in Nigeria(Borno,Yobe etc) this they do and also have to fight for salary before they get paid, working conditions not so good. So many frustration on the Job. The professors i mentioned in my post , they have money and investment all over Nigeria but still want to leave because the working condition in Nigeria frustrate them every time, how do you place a teaching Hospital where a professor of Haematology was slapped out of the lab all in the name of professional rivalry. What about Doctors without Job? Many things are wrong with Nigeria Health sector asides money
HealthRe: What Exactly Are Doctors Still Doing In Nigeria? by SmallmebigGod:
I was discussing with some of my colleagues today.
What are we doing here?
Looking back at the thread of things in Nigeria.
Till Sometimes around late 80s and early 90s the on thread was to start your own hospital after NYSC or work as Medical officers.
Gradually the drive for residency training program started growing and having more medical schools gives the consultant cadre much job so residency training became lucrative
Onset of Conmess and all the adjustment makes Residency training almost the only career path that Nigeria doctors know.
Sadly in 2014 when the then minister of health and some 'medical elders' asked the Presidency to sack the resident doctors, this move reactivated our brains and we started searching for an environment that is more rewarding and less depressive like Nigeria health sector. Many people that has been seeking to move before then also hasten up their processes. I remember someone on Nairaland that time sent a documents to us on how to qualify for practice in about 48countries, UK,us,Canada and Australia inclusive.
And then comes intense hatred and fight by Johessu worsening the poor working conditions.

Medical students no longer plan to practice in Nigeria, they have started writing qualifying exams to practice in US UK etc immediately after their Induction. Any other place apart from Nigeria.
What are we still doing Here?
Brain drain we are seeing now is just a tip of the iceberg compare to what is to come.
Just last week 2 professor of medicine and two other senior consultant independently confided in my that they are planning to relocate

I hope now she can also accommodate someone for 6months and see how it feels. Rubbish

a one minute man is a one minute man. If other ladies are calling him "super digger" then its because they dont like sex and are just grateful that it doesn't take long or the guy has alot of money
Smiles, we aren't talking about money aspect here. I having heard of many people who with their legit gf/wife won't last long but with another random girl, last more than an hour without taking drugs.
This happens for sure

Dont mind them jor. Cant the lady talk her mind again?
She is simply jealous. One other thing I have come to realize is that a man can be one minute guy to a Lady and a super digger to another. So, for her to be saying that about him just because she knows he is dating 5 other ladies, that's nothing but jealousy

Apostlenathan1:
I sincerely respect ur take on this

But the underlying issue between the Lab Scientists and the doctors is the issue of lordship over perceived inferiors
They love to lord the Laboratory, why not lord over the pharmacy or nursing department WHY TAKE SO MUCH INTEREST IN DEPRESSING LAB SCIENTISThuhhuh?

everyone should be allowed to control the affairs of his own department. Period.
Somehow we have to be under the same department and that makes it complicated as someone mist be the head. It shouldn't be as lord/inferior relationship. Its a team, everyone's role is vital. I think that needs to be appreciated and respected by both of us (I mean Doctors and scientists).
BTW have you wonder how we work well with each other under private lab settings while we kept on fighting and suing in Gov. Establishment
CareerRe: The Practice Of Medical Laboratory Science In Nigeria: My Take And Plea by SmallmebigGod: 7:34pm On Mar 16, 2018
Good write up, but the management of patient goes beyond sitting down in the lab from undergraduate days to post nysc years. A pathologist by training is able to use the knowledge of what the physician requires to manage the patient and serves as a better link to other physician. The fact that some have not been standing up to their roles doesn't mean they have no role to play , a simple click on google can explain this to you the more.

Again I said good write up, not because I agreed, but because you have successfully expressed your opinion without insult

Can these people just go to court and let’s know the real truth? Btw, even if he was “arrested”, he can still be bailed. He hasn’t been sentenced so I doubt they can detain him overnight.

So yes it’s possible he was arrested and released. Whatever the case may be, I pray whoever was wronged between both of them , get the justice they deserve. Amin
Court won't do justice to this case, the best lawyer will win no matter what. And with the feminine sentiment the lady is bringing I can only hope and pray that the guy get justice if he is truly innocent
