Able-bodied & mentally sound men and women who are citizens should be required to earn benefits through either part-time labor or monitored community service. 😒😒 If that is what they want in their society who are you to advise otherwise? And if they really want to discuss Obi with sincerity there is more than enough damming material against him so I will only take Rufai's apparent repentance seriously the day he asks Obi a sober question about why his aide was caught moving 200 million (2011 200 million that is worth like 4 billion today) in a friggin taxi in Lagos. |

Christianity Etc › Re: "Men Dey" And Pastor Bolaji: Should Pastors Curse Their Members? by SmartyPants(m): 9:19am On Oct 16 |
Mynd44: A lot of us have seen the video and there has been different responses to it where Pastor Bolaji Idowu, founder and lead pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre (HICC) was addressing an issue in church about financial responsibilities of men to women in relationships. This must have hit a sour side of some women who believe that men are responsible for providing them with some level of financial relief and they responded "men dey".
The slogan "men dey" came from afrobeatz, it is a slogan that simply says "if this man or men are not willing to do something or cannot do something, there are men that are able and willing to". Basically when Pastor Bolaji told his congregation that they shouldn't expect men to give them money gifts or buy them iphones, they responded with if some men are not able to afford these things, there are men who will and the pastor's response? He removed his shoes, dusted then and said "do you know what the Bible says about when you reach somewhere and they don't accept your message, you dust your shoes" the he ended with "he that has ears, let him hear".
The action the respectable pastor did was actually a commandment of Jesus which are recorded in Matthew 10:14, Mark 6:11, Luke 9:5 and it was applied in Acts 18:6
Lets look at these verses. Note that this is a direct commandmend of Jesus
Matthew 10:14
Mark 6:11
Luke 9:5
Acts 18:6
Note that Pastor Bolaji while performing this action of taking off his shoes to dust then also made reference to this verse which he might have join as a joke and not out of anger but, he is their pastor and if you ask me, he somewhat cursed them or gave then up for judgment in that case.
While I do not hold brief for the congregation, I find their action nauseating and needless as to directly say that to the pastor means you are telling him he doesn't know what he is saying.
My question is Pastor Bolaji since cannot claim ignorance of his action, should he be allowed according to Christianity to curse his flock just because they refuse to listen to him? He could have prayed for insight and soft heart but that action he did, fell short a little You are not making sense. You first pointed out that what he did was indeed scriptural. Then you now said they are his flock so he shouldn't have submitted them up for judgment (note that submitting them for judgment is not the same as cursing them). So you need to explain why what Pastor Bolaji did does not - in your opinion - fall under the cover of command of Jesus to dust off one's shoes. Or in other words, why you think the pastor should not have obeyed that command. Having pointed out the error in your reasoning, let me further point out to you that not everyone who attends your Church service is necessarily your member. And how can you tell the difference? "The sheep hear (obey) the voice of the Shepherd" |
Politics › Re: Top 12 States With The Lowest Poverty Rate In Nigeria - StatiSense by SmartyPants(m): 9:13am On Oct 16 |
Ikengawo: Multidimensional poverty is a way to measure poverty by looking at overlapping disadvantages in daily life—such as poor health, lack of education, and low living standards—rather than relying solely on income or consumption levels. (Multi-dimensional poverty peer network, 2026)
Nigga, if it was regular poverty that would even be less stupid. Multi-dimensional poverty means only ony 7% of Ogun as a less than first world access to health care, nigga, here's an image of a standard hospital in Ogun state.
Infant Mortality Ogun State - Ogun State Government 68 deaths per 1,000 live births
Infant Mortality Global Average - World Bank 24.45 deaths per 1,000 live births
So somehow Ogun has an infant mortality that's nearly 3x that global average in a majority poor globe, but only 8% of Ogun people lack access to standard health care.
and then I google Ogun hospitals and see this mosquito buffett Sometimes, just take a breather, process the knowledge you have received, and let issues be. _____ a. You are looking at multi-dimensional poverty and using a singular dimension (health) to discredit the aggregate, when health contributes just a fraction to the weighted average. Does that make sense to you? b. Do you understand what is measured under these metrics? Most multi-dimensional poverty metrics generally measure access and not necessarily the quality of what is accessible. What is evaluated under this metric would be, for example, in terms of education: Does a community have a working school with teachers, not whether that school has good teachers and its students perform well globally or in comparison to the national average. In terms of electricity, it would ask, is a household connected to the national grid, not whether it receives a certain number of hours worth of power supply daily. ____ In conclusion, your objections are thoroughly misplaced. |

You couldn’t dispute my argument that Buhari was a thoroughbred democrat compared with this NADECO wannabe, so you resorted to manufacturing the Jubril from Sudan gibberish to dodge the substance of my criticism.
Since you brought up Jubril from Sudan, show the evidence of where I referred to Buhari as Jubril from Sudan. Bring real evidence, not your imagination. Or is making baseless allegations your substitute for a coherent argument?
The difference between us is simple: I judge politicians by their conduct; you judge critics by whether their opinions threaten your political loyalty.
Before lecturing anyone about hypocrisy, try mastering the difference between critical thinking and partisan obedience.
When you cannot challenge the argument, you attack the person. When you cannot produce evidence, you manufacture allegations. That is not political intelligence; it is partisan desperation. With that being said, the wording is also troubling:- You can't expect them not to reject the label of "inherently" xenophobic. That is meaningless. |
