ACCIDENT VICTIM RESCUE & INFORMATION SERVICES OF NIGERIA
PRESS RELEASE
AVRIS TO EMPLOY 10, 500 YOUTHS NATIONWIDEAccident Victim Rescue and Information Service (AVRIS), a non-governmental organisation, is to employ 10, 500 youths nationwide as part of its expansion programmes.
The National Executive Coordinator of AVRIS, Mr. Sunday Bamidele, said in a statement in Lagos at the weekend that out of the 13, 500 workers the organisation needed, 3, 000 had already been employed, adding that the remaining 10, 500 vacancies were to be filled to meet the requirements of AVRIS for effective coverage of the country.
Bamidele said while the employees would be used for rescue operations and other duties, the measure is also to reduce unemployment in the Labour Market.
He stressed that all the 10, 500 would include the 3, 000 Personnel that had already attended training which would be employed between September and October, this year, while they are expected to resume duties in all the 774 Local Government Areas of the Federation.
He said that the 3, 000 who had applied and attended interview need not to re-apply, adding that they should be prepared to resume “very soon” and would be redeployed to all the States of the Federation for rescue operations on Federal and State’s Highways.
He appealed to “all interested honest and dedicated youths to approach any branch of Skye Bank, Bank PHB, First Bank, Union Bank and UBA nearer to them from August 04 – 22, 2008 for the scratch cards with which they will use to apply online through our website: www.avrisrescue.org.
Bamidele also appealed to Governments at all levels to come to the aid of AVRIS, particularly in the provision of ambulances, office accommodation in the state capitals and all the 774 local councils across the nation.
According to him, “if we get assistance from the Government and the National Assembly to legislate on AVRIS Scheme, we will expand and employ up to 100, 000 youths, thereby reducing unemployment”.

He said since AVRIS was set up to compliment the efforts of NEMA, the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) and the Police, it needed the assistance of the Government, Corporate Organisations and public-spirited individuals to achieve its objectives.

@slemdogg, the 1000 naira fee which is payable to any AVRIS designated banks is for a four page A3 size from to be properly filled by the applicant. However, due to the cumbersome process the organisation has decided to introduce the use of scratch card which will soon commence. Note that, AVRIS for now is not a Federal, State or Local Government setup. It is a Non-Governmental Organisation which partners with other Governmental agencies.

EducationNigerians Don't Like To Read by smilingjee(op): 4:13pm On Dec 07, 2006
Yeah, that's true, I've heard it said several times before that we
Nigerians don't like to read and I just find it difficult to agree.
Well
I for one don't have that much free time to sit down with a good novel
like I used to when I was younger but when it comes to information and
motivational content I do take the time off to read.

Honestly, can anyone get by in today's world without reading? And the
internet, how much use will it be to people that don't like reading?
Don't people go to cybercafés in most cases to read their eMail
messages
or to source for information (which has to be read)?

News paper and magazine businesses are among the biggest in the country
so who buys their stuff, Ghanaians or is it the guys from Bene? So,
under this topic, please share with us your opinion of the whole
"Nigerians don't like to read" idea and tell us if you like to read and
if so what do you like reading?

Do u have to blame the girls for their looks and age discrepancies? If u were in their shoes u wouldn’t do better either. The blame should go to The Sun Newspaper who condescended so low to put such pix in their paper.

They should have a team who will properly choose and groom any would be Sun girl. Good pictures they say is good product

Please, refrain from publishing those old big tummy ladies with fake profession. shocked

My dear Rawlings, I think u better concentrate on ur studies rather than this girlfriend stuff. When the time comes u'll have more than u can cope with. U'll have to wait patiently for the rain to fall before u see the rainbow.

I think Undertaker has always been underrated or what could better explain why he rarely have a shot for the world heavyweight championship since he came to smackdown unlike his feat on Raw. I'll like to see him take over from Booker, he'll make a hell of a champion. Beside, the win over Booker should only remind Mr. Kennedy that he could be the next victim.

where the hell is Great Khali?

Well, like DX I'VE gat two words for all of u, THANK YOU!

I've been a close admirer of Booker T since his days in WCW and he keeps doing things u can't but like him. grin Did u see what happened to Cena on Monday night raw? The king’s court beat the hell out of the WWE Champion and making him kiss the King's feet embarassed

Batista is cool but i don't like his gimmicks and his mic flow isn't marketable enough unlike booker who is gradually becoming a loud mouth in smackdown

what do u think? Cena defending his Championship with Edge in a cage fight shocked

Well, wishing Vince and Shane O'Mac all the best wink
