Politics / Re: How Aregbesola Turned Osun To A Construction Site by smilypie: 6:15pm On Aug 21, 2013
I really do commend the man, he is trying to make progress unlike some Nigerian leaders. I was looking at I think his website http://aregbesolafor2014.com/ which has his scorecard of his achievements. Nigerian politics is interested enough grin

I will cover finding products to sell, profit margin, shipping costs and eBay costs tomorrow. I will also upload my seller dashboard and just iron some issues out.
Business / Re: How To Make Money On Ebay (free Info For Nigerians Abroad) by smilypie: 12:17am On May 16, 2013
First thing's first. Signing up.

If you have an Ebay account already linked to your paypal account that is perfect. If you have an account that is not verified (credit/ debit card/ bank account). Then you will be limited to selling 350e or a max of 30 sales that month. Immediately after verification my limit rose to 750 euro/ 50 sales that month. Two months later it went up to 1,500 then 3,000. My current limit is over 8,000 euro / over 300 sale transaction a month.

Anyway apart from the sales limit, here is the key thing. Yes there is a way to make money on eBay without spending any of your money (drop shipping). There are cons and pros to drop shipping. The con is if you are a new seller on eBay or you have under 100 feedback and have been trading for less than a year, they will not release your money immediately (only after 21 days or when your customer leaves positive feedback or if you used tracked post you can show proof of delivery).

I do have the odd drop shipping product. I can dropship as I have no restrictions. The money that I get in my paypal account gets into my bank account within 2 working days. But normally I pay my supplier before the paypal funds enter my bank account. As I have reserve funds for drop shipping and refunds.

So if you are a new seller, please avoid drop shipping as it will cause you headaches.

@Souleymon, I will email you in a few mins.
Business / How To Make Money On Ebay (free Info For Nigerians Abroad) by smilypie: 4:21am On May 15, 2013
I am sure you see a lot of posts on Nairaland about how to make money by signing up to some programme or buying an ebook to read to make money. I have never bought an ebook nor did I sign up for some random online 'programme'. This post is targeting Nigerians abroad as I know the issue with Paypal & Nigeria. Plus if you are in a blacklisted country and even if you manage to get a stealth account (which I will talk about later) and legitimately post things to your customer there will still be some obstacles such as selling limits (to defer scammers and just reduce eBays risks in general).

I literally just buy and re-sell or you can just get rid of your old stuff. Most people have at least $1,000/ 1,000 euro worth of old things they do not use at home. So there is two routes that you can follow, either buy and re-sell or declutter.

I will try my best to update this post daily, ranging from tips for beginners to sourcing out products. It takes me about 10 mins to research on whether or not a product will sell and their potential profit minus costs etc etc.

I have been on eBay for more than a year. In my first month I made ok money (hmm not sure I will mention my niche here) but I will still give some tips. Off to sleep, will update this tomorrow, starting with sign up and account set up, obstacles and how to avoid them.
Romance / Re: 4 Da Ladies,if Ur Boy Friend Slaps U Whats Ur Best Reaction? by smilypie: 1:48am On Jun 27, 2011
Even if she called you names you do not have the right to slap her, or even raise your hand to her. She should have dumped your Bottom after that. If you can slap her for calling you names, you can obviously do worse to her and just end up being a woman beater. She has every right to slap you back. If my bf slaps me that's the end of it, if he can slap you once or even raise his hand to you he can do it again and go even further by giving his gf black eyes etc etc. You ought to be ashamed of yourself to even come up here and say that you slapped your gf. See that's the thing with some men, you think hitting a woman is OK. When you are in a relationship you should treat each other with respect. It wasn't right for her to insult u, but it wasn't right of you to hit her eitherĀ  angry.

Sit down and do some more brainstorming. I doubt people who are actually in business are going to tell you what business you could do with that amount even when they started their business with that amount which is a Nigerian mentality. Sit down and think of something else that interests you would love to do. But if you really want to print and distribute recharge cards then wait and save up more money. If not think of something else you could sell that requires very little capital.

Business / Re: Tips On Advert/distribution Of Magazine Publishing by smilypie: 4:17pm On Jun 25, 2011
I am running a magazine myself. Best thing to do is to be professional when approaching them, getting advertising is tough especially when it is your first issue. This is because a lot of companies will ask for a track record which you will not have because you are only starting up.

Tell them why your magazine is different and how it will help them target their audience.

Give them info about reader per magazine (as in would it be two reader per magazine and why).

When distributing you can either self distribute or get a distributing company to do it (how it works is that you do not pay them, they get a certain percentage of your cover price, what your magazine sells which can be up to 45% sometimes).

If it is a secondary school magazine, my advise to you is to not sell them but contact the schools directly and tell them to distribute them (schools wouldn't mind, just put in an article or two about something educational so that they will be more than likely to take them off your hands).

You can make money even if you give them out for free, just use adverts to cover your cost and make a profit. You can tell advertisers that they are distributed in schools so that they know that their ads are actually being seen.

Find out the prices of your competitors and lower your prices. Then tell the advertisers what you offer in comparison to other magazines so that they know that you are offering them the best deal.

Those are the advise that I can give you, talking from experience while starting up my own mag. Publishing is one of the hardest businesses you can get into but if you get the formula right first time round you can do great!
Romance / Re: Ladies, Would You Date A Plumber Or An Unemployed Cute Guy? by smilypie: 1:29pm On Jun 25, 2011
I am a very young business woman, who has a promising career. I wouldn't date an unemployed cute guy because I do not want to have a lazy man with no ambition. I want a man with drive spirit and hopes for his future. If he is working towards something then I wouldn't mind being with him if is unemployed, because you never know what he can achieve. I know that woman have come a long way and some wouldn't mind being a sole provider, but as one of the posters said she doesn't want a scrub and neither do I.

As for a plumber, the thing I would be worried about is if I am earning more than him and there is jealousy between us. For example my friend is earning WAY more than her man and whenever she wants to do something he complains and says is it because you are earning more than me, if we were in Nigeria you wouldn't be doing this (all she did was buy a house for the both of them), he feels as if she is demasculating him.

Goodluck with your business ideas.

Thank you
Business / Re: Why Did You Become An Entrepreneur? by smilypie: 3:32pm On Nov 20, 2010
I became an entrepreneur because I am passionate about the business that I want to thrive in. Although right now I am taking it more of a passionate thing maybe in the long run I am more than likely to benefit from it. It is not even the money that attracted me to it, see those who become an entrepreneur only for the sole purpose of making a gain, but do not have a proper interest in what they want to pursue might not be the best idea. My dad owns a business, my mum owns her own business. I was just going to go to Uni and become an accountant when I graduate but that may not be the case anymore. I have always had the mind of an entrepreneur since I was a little girl, I use to think of great start-up idea's and I was easily able to identify untapped niches in markets that people have missed .
But I have never put it into practice until now. I am glad that I am starting up my business, it is alot of hard work as I am still in Uni right now and I also have a social life. Even with all them factors I am still starting up my company. .

So if I start up the company, I do not have to do the youth service then?
Business / Starting Up A Company Before I Graduate by smilypie: 10:09pm On Nov 19, 2010
I want to start up a company but I haven't even graduated yet and I am not based in Nigeria. That is not the problem, the problem is, would I have to do youth service (NYC) if I want to start up in Nigeria (I'm under 30)? If I start up the company I do not need to seek employment so maybe it doesn't count as when people do their youth service they use it to gain employment too. I will be too busy with my company to do the NYC as the company requires more or less full time work.

Your help on this topic will be well appreciated as I do not know much about it.
Literature / Re: I Need A Writer For My Magazine by smilypie: 2:15pm On Oct 27, 2010
The topic is how men and woman play their games and how well they do it. I need it from a male and female perspective. It is going to be in a magazine. I will disclose more information to those who are going to write. It is a new magazine. Once the writer is chosen I will send them a copy of the magazine for them to see their work. I will pay them via whatever method they think is most suitable. This is a position, your not going to pay for anything I'm going to be paying you so it's not a scam. All you do is write for me and send it to my email and I'll pay you.
Literature / Re: I Need A Writer For My Magazine by smilypie: 4:04am On Oct 27, 2010
I AM NOT IN NEED OF A WRITER ANYMORE, I HAVE HIRED A FEW WRITERS.

BUT THANKS FOR TAKING INTEREST
Literature / I Need A Writer For My Magazine by smilypie: 3:51am On Oct 27, 2010
Okay here's the low down, I am in need one male and one female writer. This would suit a student even (but you don't have to be a student as long as your a good writer player. Here is how it works you send me your work through email and you get paid, it basic. On average the article should contain 1,500 words you will be sending this to me via email and I will send you payment through whichever method suits you best. If your work is good, then this will lead to a permanent position with us. I need someone with an interesting life and who's work is ORIGINAL. It is very important that your work is original because it is going to be published. Just drop your email address as a reply and I will send you an email with more information.

I HAVE FOUND A WRITER NO NEED TO POST ANYMORE EMAILS, I WOULD REMOVE THIS POST IF I COULD BUT I CAN ONLY MODIFY THIS POST.
Business / Re: Importing From China by smilypie: 1:29am On Oct 26, 2010
Why don't you use the internet. Find wholesalers from china and order your goods instead. I'm not based in Nigeria but I have ordered things from wholesalers that are in china before. Maybe before you get something in bulk just ask the seller to send you a sample first.
Literature / When You Pick Up A Magazine What Do You Like To Read? I Need Help Here Big Time. by smilypie: 1:37am On Oct 24, 2010
I'm doing some market research, I thought here on the internet would be the best place to do my research. What would you like to see in a magazine? what are the topics you like to read? Or what topics would you like to be in one?
