In 2012, Rafael Benitez wz appointed as Chelsea manager... .....Samuel Eto'o in 2004, he said "I'd rather be selling grandnuts in my village than to play for a pathetic team like Chelsea". ASUU Leaders Receive Death Threats: Leaders of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) complain of receiving death threats by phone messages and start to go underground for fear of their lives. This was made known in a statement titled “ASUU strike: Union leaders go underground” made by ASUU, University of Ibadan (UI) chapter, signed by Dr Olusegun Ajiboye. According to the claims, union leaders are being tailed by unknown elements suspected to be security agents involved by the Federal Government. The extract from the statement reads as follows: “Apart from the issue of finance (referring to withdrawn salaries) ASUU leaders are now being trailed all over the place. Majority of our union leaders have now gone underground while many have their telephone lines bugged. Some are now living in fear for their lives. “The position of ASUU is that Nigeria is a democratic country and citizens are guaranteed freedom of association. Members of the union are apprehensive for the lives of their leaders. We urge the government to leave our leaders alone.” Ajiboye urged the Federal Government to focus on implementing the 2009 agreement, which was reached with the Union. He also asked Inspector Mohammed Abubakar, General of Police, to take care of the lives of ASUU leaders. Source: http:// www.informationn g.com/?p=136731 |

Here is some interesting bit of news as reported on CHANNELS TV. ''ASARI DOKUBO PROMISES BLOODSHED IF JONATHAN IS NOT RE-ELECTED IN 2015'' Niger Delta Activist and ex-militant, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo on Sunday threatened fire and brimstone if President Goodluck Jonathan does not return as president in 2015. Speaking on Politics Today, he said “2015 is already a settled matter; Goodluck Jonathan will be president in 2015. Whether they contest or they don’t contest, Goodluck Jonathan will be president,” he said adding that he would be ready for violence if needed. Replying to comments made by former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, he warned that “if they say the blood of the dogs and the baboon will be soaked in water on the street, in blood on the street, in salt water on the street, we will help them soak them in blood”. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!! |
Nelson Mandela has no Jet, no fat foreign back account, no oil refinery, no Jaguar Phantom, yet this man has a day named after him, the Mandela Day, he received the highest Award of the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic, a national honor reserved only for sitting Nigerian Presidents. He was given a Nobel Prize, the next version of the English Dictionary will have a new word added to it - Mandela: Selfless Service. Brenda Fassie sang a song for him and in one of the composition, she pointed at Mandela and sang thus :" I will Diefor my President". He was given one of the the highest US Award of Honour, the President's Medal of Freedom. Russia gave him the Lenin Award. Yet this man served only one termas President and he handed over power. The students of the University of London as a mark of honour elected him as a president of theirstudents' union even when he was in Prison. This gesture is afardeparture from the useless awardmill engaged in by our NANS and hungry students union bodies who give awards to oil thieves and drug barons for money. One great event in the life of this man which brought mist into my eyes was when over eighty, he visited a soccer stadium in South Africa to watch a Game, the entire Stadium stood up for him. It happened at a soccer stadium in SOWETO, South Africa, 84,000 people stood up to salute the manwho spent 27 years in prison fighting for them. The crowd made up a song on the spot and sang it as a call and response: Oneside of the stadium would sing high, "NEL-SON MANDELA!" and theother side would answer low,"NEL-SON MANDELA!" Another great event happened at Wembley Stadium shortly after his release in 1990, more than 170,000 people stood up to salutethe man. What more honor could a man want? I know of no other Nigerian Leader who can command these respects from people. What is the use of 500 Jeeps, 5 Gulf Street Jets, 22 Oil Refineries when you will die without taken one of them along. Why not build a legacy worth emulating. We need a change in values, We need to learn to celebrate our trueheroes. We need to celebrate menlike Ken Saro Wiwa and the Ogoni 7 who were killed by Abacha and Shell Corporations for standing upfor rights of the downtrodden, We need to celebrate men like Gani Fawehinmi who stood up forthe oppressed and not these hypocritical activists we have around. Celebrate the many otherswho stood and fought for justice. Nigeria, KNOW YOUR TRUE LEADERS!!! |
