SarahGee:"What did you think" refers to your present thought on what happened in the past while "what do you think" refer to your thought on what is currently happening and seek your suggestions. Trust me some presenters sometimes goof with their choice of words. |
BobbyDean:Your answer would be "Yes I know" or "No I don't" instead of "Yes I knew" or "No I didn't" Regards! |
luckaz:Instead of saying "...asked her for dance" you should say "...asked her for a dance" However, "...asked her to dance" is more suitable. Please visit this thread for more clarification: https://www.nairaland.com/2703145/difference-between |
The prepositional phrases, "To many people" and "For many people," are grammatically correct. The clause that follows, "dogs are the best friends" is grammatically correct. The sentences are grammatically correct. Is the difference in meaning between “To many people” and “For many people,” dependent on the clause that follows? A different example makes it clearer. "For many people, water is wet [when experiencing water]." "To many people, water is wet [in the view of]." When this distinction is applied to the original sentences, “For many people, dogs are best friends.” means in the experience of many people. “To many people, dogs are best friends.” means in the view of many people. It depends on whether you want to emphasize experience or view. The original sentiment, "A dog is a man's best friend." emphasizes the superiority of a dog over a person as a best friend. Many would agree. Happy Learning! |
Mutuwa:Kai...the tin pain you no bi small, when people look for an example of mumu your face came up. Congrats to your achievement. You are a very fine specimen for dullardbility. |
Abayor7:Abeg na wetin dey make you laugh now? Shey you wan infect this post with your anti-frontpage virus? Lalasticlala abeg move this thing to front page, abi shey e no dey educative enough? Hehn? |

Mutuwa:No need for "own opinion"... just say "their opinion", it's like saying " still yet". it appears you went to Alakuko Community Grammer School. Let me sing you a song: Olodo rabata...oju eja lomo je...o ni ka papa silati lo ma lo. |
Mutuwa:I give up...your situation is worst than I thought, illiteracy runs in your blood...or maybe you inherited it. #shakes head. |
Mutuwa:It's just amazing how you keep disgrace yourself in public. Let me school you a little as e bi sey wen dem send you go school na woman yash you dey look...that's why you break F9 record for the whole of West Africa. Pick your phone and go to this website: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/guy guy 2 (gī) n. 1. Informal A man; a fellow. 2. guys Informal Persons of either sex. 3. switesthart:What economy is crashing? Like seriously? Babe i am not sure you have been listening or reading the news lately? You pointed out that no funds have been released since the inauguration of this government... Chai you fall my hand. Where did you think the government got the money to bail out the states that were owing its workers? The inauguration ceremony? The independent day celebration? The day to day running of the government?.... it's OK to be ignorant and keep it to yourself than come out in public to disgrace yourself. Do you even know the meaning of running a government in auto pilot...the running of a government without ministers is a clear definition and example of that word. Is there a difference between Ameachi and Deizani? both of them face Corruption "allegations", both of them have not been found guilty by any court for their crime, none of them is in jail...the only difference is that one is on a sick bed with cancer while the other is now a Minister. Welcome to Nigerian politics... Don't kill yourself. |
Knowing can be roughly sub-divided as knowing how to and knowing that. If the question is about knowing how to, then the normal 'rules' apply when deciding on the appropriate tense. Do you know how to make eba? (present tense) When you started school did you know how to tie your shoelaces? (past tense) When knowing means knowing that, then the past tense is used for knowledge that existed in the past: Did you know that she was married when you asked her to dance? You can use the present tense for present knowledge: Do you know that the meeting has been cancelled? However, it is also very common to use the past tense idiomatically to refer to present knowledge. So there is no problem asking: Did you know that the meeting has been cancelled? The past tense is often used when the questioner expects that the listener does not in fact know. For example, see these three questions of "Did you know that ...": Did you know that he's Saraki's son? Did you know that the iPhone 6 is a collector's item? Did You Know That Earth Is Getting Lighter Every Day? Happy Learning! |
Mutuwa:As e be say you no go school... Make I explain wetin the guy dey talk about...she meant that "the irony of the whole incident that took place in the Senate is that despite the continuous postponement of Ameachi's Ministerial nomination pointing at the corruption petitions and cases hanging on his neck they still went ahead to confirm him a Minister. This is truely a shame on the so called "Elite" known as the Senators". My take on the whole scenario is that the powers that be that Saraki was referring to some days ago are responsible for his problems with the Tribunal, they deliberately did it to tie his hands so that he becomes powerless and grante them their wishes by confirming their "men" as ministers. The next episode will be that Saraki will be cleared of all charges. Welcome to Nigerian politics. |

His name is Mansa Musa, the king of Timbuktu, Mali - West Africa. who lived between 1280 and 1337. Bill Gates may be the richest man alive. But he's not the richest man in history. In fact, he barely makes the top 10. According to a comparison of wealth across history done by Money, Gates-net worth $78.9 billion-ranked ninth on the list of the richest people of all time, just ahead of Genghis Khan (10th) and just behind Alan Rufus, better known as "Alan the Red" of England, who helped his uncle William the Conqueror in the Norman conquest. Oil tycoon John D. Rockefeller, America's first billionaire, ranked seventh. But the richest man in history, according to Money, is Mansa Musa, the king of Timbuktu, who lived between 1280 and 1337. Timbuktu was the largest producer of gold at a time when gold was in huge demand, the magazine said. While numbers are scarce, Musa liked his gold-he had a gold staff, gold cup, gold crown and once loaded a caravan of camels with hundreds of pounds of gold. Of course, determining the richest man in history is somewhat subjective. Should the measure be simple inflation-adjusted wealth, or should it be wealth relative to gross domestic product ? Since currency is a fairly modern invention, how should ancient assets be valued? And should it be economic "influence" rather than pure cash? Money used the benchmark of "economic power," comparing an individual's wealth to the country's GDP, using research from Measuring Worth. But previous lists using a similar methodology ranked Rockefeller first in the U.S., with Andrew Carnegie second. But in the new Money list, Carnegie tops Rockefeller. As Money's Jacob Davidson wrote: "The governing rule of lists like these is to not let the perfect become the enemy of good, or at least the enemy of fun." Funjosh:Did you smoke weed this afternoon? Who told you Buhari is not a millionaire and doest spend lavishly? His wife's watch is worth 34,500 pounds, his children school abroad(na why then no school for Nigeria to save cost), he owns a farm, he own houses, he has share in banks...abeg no compare Buhari with those people, na gullible people like you na him Buhari dey deceive...person wey talk sey him get just one million naira before election and now declared 30 millions in his account and asset cannot be trusted. |
Hello fellow Nairalanders, I woke up this morning to check my bank account balance and discovered that 4 Naira, yes 4 Naira has been deducted from my account for no reason whatsoever, I know the money seem small but just imaging deducting just 4 Naira from the account of 1 million people and see how it becomes a cool 4 million Naira in someone else's account. Let's use this forum to kick against illegal deductions by banks. Lawyers in the house how do we press charges or file a petition? Buhari must hear this. #Buharimusthearthis. |
Finally a dark skin lady wins MBGN aside Agbani Darego. Change indeed. |
Anyss:So we directly or indirectly pay for the school project... The Ministers/Priests don't build the school from their pocket yet we cannot afford to send our children to the school we have a stake in, sweetheart is their any sense in this? Please tell me if there is. What happened to missionary schools of the past? Modern Christianity indeed...Hmmmm. |
Anyss:My dear my point is not off topic and yes I am a Christian, I only subscribe to the teachings of Jesus Christ and not of some confused pastors and gullible followers. You pointed out that tithes and offerings are for Ministers and Priests when asked the difference between Tithe, Offering and Charity ... So if Ministers/Priests are paid for their labour how is that different from a government official or private employee earning salaries. Can they still come out and boastfully say "they are doing God's work"? Because the way I see it the Church members are the employers while the Ministers/Priests are the employee...They are paid to do their job. Period. |
Anyss:So you are saying church members are responsible for paying ministers and Priests salaries, now you agree with me that someone is definitely helping someone.. how would you explain this verse? "Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give." Hebrews 10:8. |
Anyss:Oya...tell us the difference between Tithe, Offering and Charity and lets see if it has nothing to do with helping someone. |
Anyss:Is it not safer to give to the less privileged 'yourself' and feed the poor 'yourself' rather that entrust your hard earned cash on an untrusted pastor that will mismanage your funds by building expensive schools your children cannot afford? Fund a private jet you can never fly in? Which is cheaper and Safer between setting up a video conferencing with other pastors miles away and flying a private jet to have a meeting with them? My people really perish because they lack wisdom or they simply chose to be foolish. |
kristen12:The poor church members contribute with their offering to fund the school project yet their children cannot attend that same school built by the use of their offering. Our pastors will always tell us that our tithe and offering belongs to God yet they use that same money to build businesses for profit and cannot share the profit with the Church members. If I invest my money I should see a return in investment and if I am giving out a gift I know its a gift. Don't expect me to be happy given my offering yet I cannot afford the school I contributed to build. Many will surely perish as God's judgement will start from the church. |

No stress...No worries about Boko haram Now Buhari is feeling the heat...Now he realized the job is not easy. |
