News Update:

World Champions, Italy, full with top players and with world class, world cup winning coach, Lippi, drew with New Zealand made up of players that are semi-pro (one is a banker that took sometime off to play WC), playing for 2nd League teams or fail trials at Middlesborough (Not West Ham o).

Imagine Amodu losing to a team that is made up of tkbs. undecided

So I am right when I told you guys that world class coaches with world class teams have achieved worse than the mere draw with Mozambique that is used as the lame excuse that Amodu is a bad coach.
Lippi is a world cup winner. What has Amodu won in his donkey years as coach huh Sorry, apart from Mandela cup with BCC Lions in 1990 huh
Bonfrere won the Olympics, was a silver medalist at the ANC. Has Amodu ever made it to the final of ANC huh

Lagerback blew it. Kaita had no business starting the game on the flank when we needed a win. After the red card, Lagerbeer should have changed the shape of the team to compensate for the loss. Lagermonks should have replaced Yak for Oba after the break considering he would be restricted to only counter-attacks in the second half. Lagerbaboon took a troop of crocked players. Red card not withstanding (Kaita was a mindless ape), Lagerape should have shown us why we are paying the big bucks for his services. He still has one last chance to make amends. Hope he comes through.

Argentina verdict: Displayed their undeniable attacking talent, creating numerous chances and often cutting through Nigeria like a knife through butter-on another day it way have been 6-0, but the Albiceleste were prolifigate in front of goal. Argentina also looked defensively frail at times and a better counter attacking capabilities than Nigeria could have punished Diego Maradona's side.

Now you come and compare him to Bonfrere?  grin

And Westerhof reached the final in algiers 90 after just a year in charge. Bonfrere won the olympics. Amodu won ,
I disagree. . . . .
Barcelona weren't trash on the night. They did most of the playing in both legs.
They still won the match on the night 1-0 and they coulda eliminated Inter Milan if the referee didn't disallow Bojan's good goal.

Ibrahimovic contributed zilch with his useless height. . . . .
Bojan as a substitute did more than Ibrahimovic @ Nou Camp. A good manager will not persist with a player suffering from neurosis.
Barcelona became better attacking-wise after Ibrahimovic left and Guardiola got that right.

Henry would have been useless as well.
He is not mobile enough and he was being punished for something silly he did when Barcelona met Arsenal @ the Emirates.

Which kind manager you be?
Bring on a 4th striker as early as the 28th minute to come do what?
Inter were dangerous on the counter-attack. That was their game plan. . . . .soak all the pressure from Barca and hit em on a break if possible.
That was how they eliminated Chelsea @ SB. . . . .Guardiola is too smart a manager to get done by such nursery tactics.

He did the right things. . . . . .
Barcelona kept attacking, Inter Milan deployed all manner of gamesmanship. . . .Fouling, moaning, whinning and breaking the flow of the game.
After all said n done, Guardiola pushed Pique upfront. . . .Pique scored.
Guardiola brought in Bojan and Bojan had the best chance on the night when he missed with a header a player like Rafiu Afolabi woulda scored.

On top of that, Bojan scored a valid goal but the referee disallowed cos he felt Yaya Toure handled the ball in the build-up to the goal.
Another referee might have allowed that goal cos Toure's hand did not change the direction of the ball, if the ball didn't hit toure's hand, it woulda hit Toure's belly and the flight of the ball woulda traveled the same way.

Amodu is a disgrace. . . . . .At least Guardiola won on the night.
They were unlucky to be eliminated based on what happened in the first leg when Inter scored from an offside position.

Amodu sits down like a muppet, chew his cud like a ruminant animal without making any tactical input.
I can bet ma life savings Amodu's shoe size is higher than his IQ. He did nothing to salvage the match against Egypt.

After Hossan scored the 2nd goal in the 57th min, Amodu brought in Obinna to replace Uche(69th min) and Kanu to replace Mikel(79th min).
That was all he did. He refused to make the 3rd substitution and we had Odemwingie, and Martins on the bench wasting away.
Even after the Egyptians scored the 3rd goal in the 87th min, there was no reaction from the cud-chewing plonker we call a National team manager.

Amodu's incompetence is so obvious.

Facing elimination against Ghana. . . . . .Amodu went on a mental coma.
Nigeria were trailing Ghana in a K.O. match and Mr Amodu took out Odems for Yakubu like a plonker.

He made only 2 substitutions when we had Kanu and Uche wasting away on the bench. . . . . . .Would it hurt Amodu's bank account if he had introduced Uche or Kanu as the 3rd substitute to try and force the issue and get an equalizer?

Who makes only 2 subs when facing elimination with 2 fit strikers wasting away on the bench?
I am glad Amodu was sacked. . . . . .His state of mind tells me he's suffering from a latent down syndrome.
Don't mind that nitwit called Saga-mumu. Semi-brain slowpoke

Failed by meeting his targets?

He had 2 bad games at the ANC, and so?

Explain to me, the improvement you saw at the N. Korea game? Please explain.

Please how his reasons for dropping players are better than Amodu's?
1) He was to reach the semis, playing well while doing so
2) Against quality opposition, he faltered.
3) Three goals against a WC bound DPR Korea, not bad for a third game in charge.
4) Amodu never gave reasons, picking injured and half-fit players without objectivity despite being in charge of SE for 2 years. At least the results point to his dunce and yours for supporting him.
SportsJohn Obuh For SE WC2014 by snakova(op): 4:42pm On Jun 14, 2010
Going by the dismal showing of the SE so far, it seems only practical that our FE led under the able tutelage of John Obuh should be properly groomed to represent Naija at the 2014 WC. A good example is Ghana, seeing how playing with a good blend of the victorious U20 team and experienced professionals, made it to the final of the ANC and put up a good showing against Serbia yesterday. Hopefully they would qualify for the knock-outs, to further under-score the need to consider this good option. Its a lot better than paying loads of money for a mediocre performance.[flash=200,200][/flash]

That said, you can have your fun since Lagerback disappointed on his first real test. As for your uncle Amodu, he had his chance to prove his critics wrong and he lost it both times i.e. against Egypt and Ghana. if Lagerback fails to make the knock-outs, then we replace him and forge ahead, maybe graduating Obuh and his boys to SE by 2014. Saying 'I told you so' is still quite early going by the fact that the Argentina game is the toughest of all the group games. Don't worry, your joy can still turn to hot sour grapes.

so much history without objectivity. You sometimes even struggle to make sense tongue. Amodu failed when the chips were down. I remember saying that the ANC would be his litmus test, and it was. He failed miserably. Lets see what Lagerback can do starting from today. As for his understanding and reasoning, I would say he's miles ahead of Amodu. The reasons he gave for dropping and including players in his list were very sensible, and from the 3 games he's played so far, there seems to be improvement with every game. I don't care if his arse is white or pink or orange or black, he still needs paper to wipe it off.

No sane coach will ever include someone like shittu.Unfortunately lagerback is foolish ,daft, silly ,annoying ,crazy.
And you, not mourinho, should be coaching Real Madrid tongue. Mikel is our most high profile player. He cannot be compared with Ik Uche, even with his undoubted talent. If a player is psychologically not prepared for a possible 7 games, then i think the coach has the right to replace him. If Naija flops, then you can come up with your jabs. For now, let Lagerback give it his best shot. 1-2-0 is not bad for starters.
SportsLukman To Get Argentina Start by snakova(op): 4:42pm On Jun 09, 2010
Roland Andersson has said that young midfielder Haruna Lukman is likely to start against Argentina when the Super Eagles open their World Cup campaign.

The Monaco midfielder has played in all three friendly games under Lars Lagerback and Andersson, who is Lagerback's right hand man, says he has made a strong case for a starting position.

"Yes, of course he can start, but we will see what happens. He has showed already that he is a good player. He is young and he develops more and more every day."

Lukman's vision and eye for the pass has led to comparisons with Nigeria great Austin Okocha. Andersson agrees, but says the Under-17 World Cup winner still has years ahead of him to reach that level.

"You can’t compare him to Okocha already now, but in the future he has the opportunity to become as good as Okocha was. But only if he works hard. He has to work on his defense and make sure he improves."

The youngster's position has been strengthened by the withdrawal of John Mikel Obi from the Super Eagles squad due to injury, but Lukman insists that he is his own man.

"I don’t see myself as a replacement for Mikel. We have the same style of playing, but Mikel is injured and has gone home.

"I am looking forward to the game against Argentina. It is football and everything can happen. I think we can play a very good game."

Nigeria play Argentina on June 12 at Ellis Park.

IMO, I think Lagerback knows his starting 11 already but doesn't want to give our opponents the opportunity to understand and tame our players. Martins took us to the world cup with his sheer zeal and enthusiasm. He deserves a seat on the bus. That said, he is a better player than Eneramo, and Ik uche plus Anichebe were injury concerns. Peter Utaka apparently didn't impress in training. I believe in Lagerbeer's judgement. At least let him fall alone if his wards fail to perform just like Amodu did. Maybe then we can start a real rebuilding process for 2014 with this up and coming F/Eagles who have been largely impressive.
