Iyineda:

Anywhoo, for tomorrow's match against Saudi Arabia, here's the lineup I predict:

                 Enyeama

             Yobo    Afolabi
Odiah                              Taiwo

                   Etuhu
            Kaita     Haruna

    Obasi      Yakubu     Osaze

The match against Saudi Arabia had this lineup:

                  Ejide

            Yobo  Shittu
Suswan                    Echiejile

            Ayila   Haruna
  Obasi                     Anichebe

            Kanu   K. Uche

sad

I hope the 4-4-2 was just a test and that we will come back to using the 4-3-3 formation against Colombia this Sunday. The Eagles need a denser midfield. Today's match proved the 4-4-2 formation to have a porous midfield. I know it was only a warm up match and the starters of today aren't going to be the starters in the WC. But still. . .

The only certainy I have after watching the match is that Anichebe must definitely be in the 23 man squad if not in the starting 11. That player is special. Also, Kanu. . . ---------------------------------------------------> WITH ALL DUE RESPECT, FIND YOUR WAY BACK TO PORTSMOUTH. angry

i dont see that team reaching anywhere in world cup!!!
really.
Re: Your Dream Super Eagles Squad For South Africa 2010 Worldcup. by Iyineda(m): 9:32pm On May 25, 2010
You are right. The team that played today with the 4-4-2 formation won't go anywhere. But starting with Odemwingie, Taiwo, Mikel, Enyeama, Odiah and Anichebe is a different ball game entirely.

forget anichebe, where IK uche dey?
Re: Your Dream Super Eagles Squad For South Africa 2010 Worldcup. by Iyineda(m): 10:12pm On May 25, 2010
Forget Anichebe?? o_O

He was twice any player fielded today. I almost screemed when Lars decided to withdraw him early in the 2nd half. Ike Uche isn't the same Ike Uche that steamrolled France's defence a year ago. He has barely recovered from a 7 month injury. He wasn't outstanding today. undecided
Re: Your Dream Super Eagles Squad For South Africa 2010 Worldcup. by honeric01(m): 10:32pm On May 25, 2010
I think we need both of them, i know the players that didn't feature would have made a very great impact in the game if they played.
Re: Your Dream Super Eagles Squad For South Africa 2010 Worldcup. by snakova(m): 11:10am On May 26, 2010
my 7 players to be dropped are now:
Kanu
Ayila
Ejide
Suswan
John Utaka
Obasi
K.Uche/Adeleye
Re: Your Dream Super Eagles Squad For South Africa 2010 Worldcup. by Iyineda(m): 11:49am On May 26, 2010
^ Mine would be:
- Ideye
- Kanu
- John Utaka
- Peter Utaka
- Suswan or Shittu
- Ayila
- One of the goalkeepers bar Enyeama

As for the lineup and formation;

If Lars decides to stick with the 4-4-2 formation, here's my suggested lineup:

                     1
               Enyeama
               4          5
    17    Apam  Adeleye   3
Odiah                         Taiwo
              10        19
     16    Mikel   Haruna  18
 Anichebe                  Nsofor
                15       11
            I. Uche  Osaze

If the 4-3-3 is re-established, then the lineup should be:

                       1
                 Enyeama
               4           5
   17     Apam   Adeleye      3
Odiah                             Taiwo
                      20
              10   Etuhu 19
            Mikel       Haruna
        15           8           11
    I. Uche    Yakubu    Osaze

Yes, we need to start with Yakubu. He has a greater impact when started because he is a bully and tires the defenders. Later in the match he should be subbed and a guy like Martins can make a difference.

For me, the captain of the team should be between Osaze and Enyeama. But I'd tip Osaze based on charisma.
Lars also needs to designate deadball kickers.
- Direct freekicks: Taiwo or Haruna depending on the angle
- Indirect freekicks: Haruna
- Corner kicks: Haruna
- Penalty kicks: Taiwo

I know that Mikel likes taking the shots but his deliveries are always on the far post in a chipped/lobbed style. No dynamics. Too slow in pace. Haruna whips 'em in. That's what the SE needs. As for penalty kicks, even though Yakubu usually takes the responsibility, I believe Taiwo is better in this field. The Yak should let the Marseille specialist do his thing. smiley

nice try !

We still need Kanu, he is the only known face and leg the SE has to offer

Apam would not be starting, he might even get dropped - YOBO, SHITTU, ADELEYE are sure . . .ODIAH and SUSWAM are sure at RB.

Yakubu would surely be our top striker.

Kanu holds up play better than all the DM's in your squad.
