The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief John Odigie Oyegun has again lost his unit to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the ongoing Edo election. Oyegun, who voted at Oredo Ward 2, Unit 1 has not won an election for his party in the unit since joining the APC. The returning officer of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that the APC scored 69 votes, while the PDP scored 78 votes. Meanwhile, Situation Room is reporting that there are tension in some polling booths and wards over issues ranging from over-voting to unused ballot and many more. It reports that a polling unit in Etsako, the number of voters did not tally with the number of votes cast. In Oredo, it says there is argument between party agents over election materials. Voting has ended in practically all the polling booths and counting of ballots has commenced. Meanwhile, it was jubilations galore at Ward 4, unit 19 as APC candidate Godwin Obaseki won election in the ward.

Now according to Pharez Okpere, one Bright Kokoma an APC member, who parades himself as the chairman of Ibviotor community did to his Brothers Maximus Okpere and Paulinus Okpere today as he led over 20 thugs to their office complex along dumez road today to beat and stab his brothers for resisting the exploitation that the poor helpless traders in Ibviotor community are going through. As you are reading this one of my brothers is in a life threatening condition in the emergency unit of the hospital. This is the Edo state that we live in. How it all started, last week Bright Kokoma asked the petty traders in the community to start paying 1200 naira to him every month, most of the women protested and refused and in the process, Bright Kokoma went to the shops, many of which are wooden shops and shanty containers, destroyed them and throw away their food items, His brother went to one of the shops and did a video in the shop, to draw attention to the plight of these poor hepless petry traders, and for doing that video Bright kokoma came today to unleash mayhem on them. https://mobile.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10210375854098998&id=1422139304&refid=17&_ft_=top_level_post_id.10210375854098998%3Atl_objid.10210375854098998%3Athid.1422139304%3A306061129499414%3A2%3A0%3A1475305199%3A-7873150488803569371&__tn__=%2As

Please permit me to rant this monday. In what i still feel was a ‘‘Test and see their reaction’’ tactics, the federal government announced last week through the the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources and Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, that they have decided to unbundled the NNPC into four or five main operational zones comprising 30 companies to be headed by a director each. This of course did not go down well with a lot of Nigerians especially the stakeholders. Labour unions in Nigeria’s oil sector, the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas (NUPENG) and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), reacted quickly as they went on an immediate strike. Something they are good at doing. The government seeing that whatever plans they had were going to backfire, came out to withdraw the earlier statement. The minister, Ibe kachikwu claimed that he was misconstrued. Typical. Well, for whatever the initially reasons were, it is good that he clarified his statement and records were set straight. We can not begin to imagine what would happen if the oil workers were to down their tools because even without a strike Nigerians are still suffering to get fuel. While the prices of purchasing fuel now falls between 140 to 180 Naira in most filling stations across the country, the stress Nigerians pass through in trying to purchase the product is another hell of a story.. The scarcity of the product is just one of the numerous issues the nation have been plunged into. And it seems all we are entitled to now is the sympathy of the government. Again, few days ago, the government in it’s magnanimity apologized to all Nigerians over the worsening power situation experienced in major parts of Nigeria. Just a quick thought; Are these guys in charge of power no longer scared of the New Sheriff in town? Is it not high time we relieved the Governor of Nigeria of some duties? or we still don’t think power and works alone is too much for one man. MOVING ON…….. While we thank the government for been gracious enough to send an apology over the Fuel situation, we have to point out to them that their are still more lingering issues that needs apology too, if it is what we need to cushion the weight of the pains we have been subjected to.. We demand an apology for those precious hours we spend and waste on daily basis just to get fuel with our money. The unbelievable and continuous rise in dollar, and the alarming high prices of goods and foodstuffs. We would need an apology here too. I think the youths deserve an apology too or don’t you think so? I think they do for the 5000 naira stipend once promised them. After months of singing with it, there hopes were dashed just like that. Apology is needed here. By the way, who would apologize to the dead who met their fate at the hands of the Fulani Herdsmen men due to the poor response of our security personnel. What of those who lost their homes and properties to the dastard act of these persons around the country. If apologies is all the government have to give for now then they should make sure it is dispensed properly. Everything today is an apology, we are all becoming victims of one situation in our nation. ALL IS NOT WELL ALL IS NOT WELL http://sincerenigerian.com/2016/03/14/nigeria-is-configured-to-make-our-lives-a-living-hell/ |

No fewer than 23 members of secret cult groups have publicly renounced cultism at the Ambrose Alli University (AAU ), Ekpoma , Edo State . This is as two suspected cultists have been arrested in the university town of Ekpoma for attempting to forcefully recruit some students into their cult group. The repentant cultists renounced membership of secret cults at a church service organized by the Chapel of the Good Shepherd Church and the Redeemed Christian Church of God in conjunction with Ambrose Alli University . Speaking at the event , the dean of Students Affairs of the university, Prof. Isaac Aigbedion enthused that the renunciation marked the beginning of a new dawn in the university . Aigbedion said renouncing cultism meant abandoning reckless life style and evil ways , adding that no good thing comes from the devil . “ I know today, the devil have been put to shame through these young lads who have decided to abandon him for God , leaving the bush for a straight road that leads to God ’ s own way. “ After today’ s renunciation , I am quite sure that a lot of parents and guidance would know that cultism has been swept away from AAU and Esan West Local Government Area ” , he said . In a brief sermon by the pastor of the Good Shepherd Church , Rev. Innocent Ebbeh praised the student for taking the decision to resource cultism , noting that by the decision they have opened positive doors to their futures . He warned the congregation to be mindful of the decision they make in life , pointing out that choices made by humans in life either makes or mar his or her future. High points of the event were prayer and deliverance exercises for repentant cultists , conducted by the zonal pastor of Edo Province 4 , Benin, of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG ), Pastor Allan Dirisu and Pastor (Mrs ) Hilda Aigbedion of RCCG, Ekpoma . Meanwhile , two suspected cultists have been arrested in Ekpoma , Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State , while attempting to forcefully recruit some students into their cult group. They were apprehended and handed over to security agency by the Association of Indigenes Against Cultism in Esan West, and were paraded at the renunciation venue . Items recovered from the suspected cultists are two cut to size guns and one small axe otherwise known as battle axe . The suspected cultists who confessed to be members of Jurist Confraternity, however claimed they were on the verge of renouncing their membership of the cult when they were apprehended . http://www.sincerenigerian.com/2016/02/two-arrested-as-23-renounce-cultism-in-AAU-Ekpoma.html?m=1

Finally, the argument over if Linda Ikeji’s hermes bag is real or fake is gradually fading which is natural. She has apologized in her usual ‘lindaway' over her rant, and everybody is moving on. But before we finally let sleeping dogs lie, i have had observations from the episode, so i had to compile this, Five things i noticed from the drama, and here it goes: 1) Linda seems not to have much celebrity friends Dunno if you have noticed but, Linda ikeji seems to be like an outcast celebrity especially when it comes to getting their support during the storm like the hermes bag brouhaha. Unlike most celebrities who during times of troubles, have their fellow colleagues defending them, or and having their backs in a way, it is rare to say the same about linda. Not even among her fellow bloggers. SDK's recent shade at her during the saga tells a lot. 2) Women are women’s biggest problems. Well, even my mom has said this as many times as i can remember. And she never lied. Did you notice how ladies were the ones over exaggerating all the whole thing. They kept calling her fake, and other crazy stuff. Same ladies she always seem excited about helping succeed. Compared with someone like davido who had few days earlier, flaunt his new watch twitter, and how many men do you see hating even though it's annoying for some people. Some women are just crazy like that sha. 3) Linda is becoming her blog Ok, linda ikeji remains famous and of course one of the leading bloggers in Nigeria, if not Africa mainly because of her past. Linda is was known for breaking controversial stories in Nigeria. Those kind of stories that you imagine how she got them. Though of recent, she is beginning to sound a lot like Vanguard but have you noticed that instead of breaking the stories, she is gradually becoming the stories especially negative ones. In over the last one year, she has trended for the wrong reasons except maybe for the N500 million naira house which even had it's own share of controversies pertaining to the real amount in which the house was bought. She was even accused(allegation) of funding the building project from monies gotten from the popular Dasukigate Arms deal. 4) Everyone hate criticism Everyone enjoys bad mouthing the other person, but nobody wants to be at the receiving end. When it comes to criticism, nobody wants to hear you quote the Golden rule. ‘DO to others what you would like’. Time again, Linda has gone all ‘bruce lee’ online, at anybody that dares say something imperfect about her. She puts in lots of energy to defend heraelf from bad publicity. She would curse and swear just to make her point. She would always brand those persons haters and poor. The number one controversial Nigerian would always play the victim. And you wonder if it is the same lady who with no sense of remorse or apology would drop a story, not minding how bad it would come out. Funny thing was, while she was busy tackling her ‘enemies' with one hand, her other hand was having no problem blogging about the Okoyes(Psquare) brouhaha. It's business sha. 5) Much ado about nothing Pardon me as i get religious on this one, but we do worry much over unnecessary things. Vanity, as the bible calls it. Imagine the noise all over social media for just for a bag? A 4.8 million naira bag, i know. But the hype, was it that necessary? I think the hype and all that noise should have been about the amount she spent in buying it and not getting unnecessary headache over if it’s real or not. Especially when everyone is complaining of how hard the economy is. On her apology note, She even acknowledge the fact that the money spent for the bag was too much. Yes, we all know it’s her money, gotten from hard work, but the best thing was to let the rich lady droll over her expensive bag instead of taking another person's medication on our already empty stomach. http://www.sincerenigerian.com/2016/02/5-things-drawn-from-linda-ikeji-hermes-debacle.html?m=1

February 14- Lovers day. February 14th has become the busiest day for cupid every year. Most people are busy, thinking of how to make that day wonderful, while for some it’s just like every other day. It is just a couple of hours to Valentine and as usual everybody is talking about it, and writing one article or the other about it. I noticed that there are few people talking about the DON’TS of Valentine day and YES, i decided to write something about it. So, here it goes, 7 things you should never do on valentine’s day 1) Calling up your EX on Valentine’s day RESIST PLEASE Occasions like this, especially if you still single, or your new relationship is not going the way you expect, there is that tendency that your thoughts would drift back to the last person you were with, those fond memories you had and all. It is normal but remember, the past is the past for a reason. You broke up for a reason, so don't let that moment of weakness make you take decisions you would regret later. 2) Doing nothing on that day It's a day of love and love means activity Take yourself out, Dress to kill, Be determined to have fun. Make yourself happy. Treat yourself real good.. have some self-love time. 3) Going on a First Date That is a ‘NO NO’ for me. Remember that pressure that comes on a first date? You want to impress, you want everything to go perfect. Most of the time, we go with the hope (high hopes) that He/She would be the 'one'. What i'm saying is, first dates are hard enough as it is without the added pressure of taking place on a special day like this. Val day is NOT the day to take such dating risk. 4) Giving money as gift: To me, this is so unromantic. Or sending recharge cards? weird too. Guys are guilty of this. "I don't know what to buy" That is always the excuse. By the way, i said unromantic, never said she won't like it. 5) Pretending to be having a good time whereas you are not Most people do this especially on special occasions such as Christmas, and birthdays. If you not doing anything on that day, you don't have to pretend you are, it's just Val day, it's not even a public holiday. 6) Assume it’s just for couples Who made that law? If you've got a boo, wonderful – If not, or you just got out of a relationship and you still feel bad, you can still spread the love that day, whether it's with yourself, or better still, your family, or friends. Remember, Misery loves company. 7) On a lighter note; Don't compose a Poem if you have never done it before and don't record songs to send your patner if your voice is awful. For God sake not spoil that special day for your patner. you’ll put your partner through the ordeal of pretending to like it. Add yours..... Have a great Valentine. Be safe. http://www.sincerenigerian.com/2016/02/7-things-never-to-do-on-valentines-day.html?m=1 |
"Life is very important, but very few people, fail to cherish it until they are faced with death". I am quite sure you are wondering why I made that statement. I just got back from a funeral. A man in my parish died. A very good man. Everyone who knew him, have lots of good tales to tell about him. But one question I always ponder in my heart is, why do good people die so young? Yet the bad ones are enjoying the luxury of a long life. Well I know some good people live long, but they are very few. Some bad people die young too, just that it is more shocking when a good man dies. My dear, I barely survived the funeral mass. I cried uncontrollably through out the program. The man was not very close to me, neither was I a close friend to his children. The man was extremely humble, meek and kind hearted. You might say "Wow those qualities are too big for one man" But its the simple truth. If he wanted to greet me, he would bow his head and shake me with both hands. Sometimes he was always too quick to say "Good morning" first. hmmmmmm.... A man who was twice my age, old enough to be my father. He was a rare gem and a perfect example of a "Sincere Nigerian". Now you understand why I said I barely managed to survive the funeral. At a time I hid my face and put on a dark shade. My sister was with me, and her face was soaked in tears. I was supposed to be the man. I was supposed to be consoling her, not crying like a baby. *Smiles* wEll, there is no hard man when it comes to death, so what I did was natural. What was more touching was seeing his male colleagues (members of the male organization in the church) carry his body which was in a casket, into the church. At that point, I whispered to my sister "Those were his friends" It was heart breaking. You can imagine. Well, that is life for you. Dust we came from, Dust we shall return. Indeed the End is near, and we will all die one day. Nor fear sha. E still far.. lol On a serious note though, We should always learn to appreciate those around us. Most times we take people for granted until they are no more. When they are dead, everyone starts putting their pictures on different social networks and writing fake tributes whereas they were never friends, they never spoke for once, not even on phone. We quarrel over little issues, we keep malice for too long. We fight over things not worth it, and we envy each other unnecessarily. The most important thing is to live your life the way you want, and let others live theirs. Not Everyone can be like you. Live free, Love free, so that when you are gone, people will only have nice things to say about you. http://www.sincerenigerian.com/2016/02/live-before-its-late.html?m=1 |

Embattled National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Olisa Metuh, has dragged the Federal government before a Federal High Court in Abuja over his continued detention. Metuh is being detained for allegedly receiving N400 million from former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki. In a suit filed by his counsel, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, Metuh claimed that his arrest by the antigraft agency was part of a plan by the ruling party APC, to silence the PDP. Metuh said that since Buhari came into office in May 2015, he has organized the EFCC to serve as a tool to go after PDP members. He argued that his detention tramples on his fundamental human rights and also breached the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. “I verily believe that the applicant has not committed any offence other than his principled opposition to the ruling government and his arrest and detention are meant to silence the opposition and create a one-party state by the respondents to allow the APC to dominate Nigeria. Nobody knows the present whereabouts of the applicant, as to his exact place of detention, his condition in the custody and how he is faring. Recently, detainees in the custody of the 1st respondent have been dying due to lack of proper care and adequate medical facilities, as the 1strespondent is not normally well-funded to function effectively, except to be used by the ruling government to hound the opposition,” No judge has been assigned to the case. http://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2016/01/olisa-metuh-sues-fg-over-his-prolonged.html?m=1

Governor Seriakae Dickson was yesterday returned as the winner of the Bayelsa State governorship election. This followed the declaration of the results of the supplementary elections conducted at the weekend in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area and 101 polling units in six other local government areas. The supplementary elections followed the cancellation of the election in Southern Ijaw and the 101 units due to irregularities in the governorship election conducted on December 5, 2015. Dickson, who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, polled 134,998 votes to triumph over his predecessor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Timipre Sylva who polled 86,852 votes. A total of 242,114 votes were cast in the election out of which 6,647 votes were rejected as invalid. Moses Siasia, a younger brother of Nigeria’s Under 23 football coach, Samson Siasia, who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM, took a distant third with 1,572 votes despite a high-profile campaign. The declaration of the final results by the returning officer, Professor Zana Akpagu commenced shortly after 8.00 p.m. last night and punctured the high drama and suspense that had held many of the state’s political stakeholders for most of yesterday. The agents of the PDP, Chief Fred Agbedi and that of the APC, Barrister Dennis Otiotio had in the course of the day at the collation centre, Yenagoa, repeatedly exchanged accusations over the conduct of the supplementary elections in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area and some other units where the elections were cancelled last December. Earlier in the day, the returning officer for Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Dr. Johnson Dagana had declared the result of the election in the local government area putting Dickson as the winner of the contest in the area with 23,2081 votes. Sylva, who had earlier linked his victory in the governorship election to the amassing of significant votes to wipe away the 30,000 plus lead of Dickson, garnered last December. However, he failed to record the upset in the local government area. In the end, he got only 10,216 votes out of the 33,607 valid votes cast in the local government area that is also the base of Dickson’s late patron and first civilian governor of the state, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha. Following the declaration of the results, Barrister Otiotio, agent of the APC candidate immediately renounced the declaration of Dickson as the winner, saying the election should have been declared inconclusive on the claim that the difference between the two leading candidates was less than the number of cancelled votes. He also alleged irregularities in voting in some sections of the state. His claim was immediately dismissed by Agbedi, the PDP agent who blamed the irregularities on the APC even as he acclaimed the performance of Dickson as the reason for the PDP victory. Ekweremadu congratulates Dickson Following the declaration of the results, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, the highest elected PDP official in theFederal Government, congratulated Dickson saying the victory was sweet. He said: “It is a sweet victory, coming against all odds. It is a testimony to the performance and popularity of Governor Seriake Dickson and our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. “I commend the people of Bayelsa State for standing up to be counted, for protecting their democratic rights to freely choose their leaders. They have made a resounding statement to the effect that the state remains a PDP enclave and that they are committed to keeping it so.” He, however, charged Governor Dickson to repay Bayelsans for their faith in the PDP and his leadership credentials with greater transformation in his second term. He also enjoined him to reach out to his opponents for the peace and progress of the state, while ensuring that every part of the state is fairly treated irrespective of their political choices. The state chapter of the PDP, however, rued what it described as the cost of human lives it took the party to achieve victory. The party stated this through the Director of Publicity, Restoration Campaign Organisation, Jonathan Obuebite, shortly after the declaration of the results. “It is clear that this victory has come with so much pain because we lost dear ones. Those who died are our brothers. So many are yet in the hospitals nursing life-threatening injuries because our opponents wanted to win at all cost. We wish to express our deepest condolences once again and to assure them that their death will not be in vain”, it stated. Obuebite who noted that the victory was important because it came the way of the PDP even in the face of intimidation, tyranny, threats and violent attacks, added that “despite the challenges, democracy won.” He said: “We want to use this opportunity to sincerely thank all Bayelsans for their doggedness and patriotism because even in the face of such terrible intimidation and violence decided, out of their own volition, they came out to re-elect and return the Countryman Governor to office for the next four years. We are grateful for your remarkable decision as expected in a democracy.” In his acceptance speech, Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson, thanked the electorate for ensuring his re-election for another four years but said there would be no celebration because of the number of lives that have been lost. The governor in an emotion-laden statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, released to journalists last night in Yenagoa, however, vowed that he would do everything possible to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice. He promised to work tirelessly to justify the mandate given to him “as we tried to do in the first four years to almost universal acknowledgement and approbation.” While extending a hand of fellowship to his political opponents, Dickson said since the election has been won and lost, the needs of Bayelsans, the challenge of improving their material condition remains and is, even more, urgent. The text of the Governor’s statement reads thus: “My good people of Bayelsa State, I am extremely humbled tonight on the valiant efforts you made to revalidate the mandate you gave me four years ago. With all manner of forces arrayed against us not least the utter desperation of our political opponents, community after community led by women and youth stood gallantly to defend the sanctity of their votes and to resist the efforts of hoodlums who style themselves as “militants” to undermine the democratic process. “To the extent that the people ensured that they spoke loud and clear and that their choice clearly emerged provides some reassurance that our democracy is coming of age. Sadly however the elections were conducted at the price of several lives lost and mayhem visited on many communities by mindless brigands clearly suborned by those who do not respect the democratic process and have equally scant regard for the sanctity of lives and property. Unfortunately, we can’t celebrate because people have died. “I want to assure you that we will do everything possible to identify the culprits and bring them to justice. I want to express my heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the families of the innocent victims of the violence. The government will be undertaking a full account of what happened. “The mandate you have given us having been clearly demonstrated, I want to assure you that my administration will work tirelessly to justify this mandate as we tried to do in the first four years to almost universal acknowledgement and approbation. The present economic climate in the country may be very harsh with the precipitous slide in oil revenues but I want to assure you that we will courageously tackle the challenges of economic and social development with renewed vigour. “Here I will like to extend a hand of fellowship to our political opponents. The election has been won and lost but the needs of our people, the challenge of improving their material condition remains and is, even more, urgent. That should now be the focus of all our attention and efforts. “God bless the valiant people of Bayelsa.” http://saharareporters.com/2016/01/10/bayelsadecides-how-dickson-won-bayelsa-gov-poll
