Programming › Checkout Some Of My Recent Works. by Snotat(op): 6:46am On Feb 04, 2024 |
During leisure, I decided to build some stuff to improve my web dev skills and to increase the number of projects I will be putting on my portfolio when it's ready. So, The first is my NLand api, which created with the help of puppeteer web scrapper, it's built with node/express and deployed to render due to its size Check front page here - https://NLand.onrender.comNext is recreating the clone itself, I did a lot of changes, frontend - react deployed to netlify, backend- Node/express deployed to cyclic. https://NLand.netlify.appAnd also, a domain availability checker I built with the popular claymorphism design - https://domain-checker.netlify.appI am available to answer questions on the API routes, and also available for web dev jobs and work support and referrals. Thanks.

Seeing ppls Salary up there sent shivers down my spine.
As at 2014 I didn't have any job. I picked up software development downloaded several video tutorials online and I started working. I dedicated more than 11 hours daily to this. I would wake up 6 a.m. as if I was going to the office. Gradually improved and started building apps. Then in 2016 January I got my first job in Lagos as a junior Dev. My salary was 120k. I learnt very fast on the job and improved my skills.
Within a year, I got inside also that paid me 250k alongside my current job. I also got promoted on my current job so my salary became around 180 k.
Then in 2018 I got another job with another company that was paying me over 500k. I kept improving and I was receiving promotion till my salary hit what it currently is well I kept my side job.
But even with my current job plus side also I still believe in entrepreneurship, so I started up my own company but I'm still funding it to make it profitable. Boss |

Programming › Re: How To Use React Router Navigation by Snotat: 6:35am On Sep 01, 2023 |
kemi72: React Router, a widely adopted library in the React ecosystem, offers a powerful solution to tackle navigation challenges in modern web development. In this article, we’ll delve into the ins and outs of React Router navigation, exploring its core concepts, usage, and advanced features.
Why React Router? In the world of single-page applications (SPAs), smooth and efficient navigation is a crucial aspect of providing a seamless user experience.
React Router is a JavaScript library designed to handle client-side routing in SPAs. Unlike traditional multi-page applications that involve full page reloads upon navigation, SPAs dynamically update specific components based on the URL without causing the entire page to refresh. React Router facilitates this behavior by providing a set of components and tools for managing navigation within your React applications.
Getting Started To start using React Router for navigation, you first need to install it into your project. Open your terminal and run the following command:
npm install react-router-dom // or yarn add react-router-dom

Mansoor001234: I get Incase you find. Please could you indicate on the thread Actually, I've found two third party API with one and bichidata, I will connect MTN data, they both sell at 213/gb, I hope its a direct API like they say, for the rest, ie Cable TV , and Electricity bill and Airtime, I'm still not sure where to get API for those |
Webmasters › Re: VTU Experts, Come In Here!!! by Snotat(op): 8:48pm On Jan 01, 2023 |
Mansoor001234: If you check from third parties like ticketdata You could use thier API - but the prices are a tad higher than the direct source though (they're reliable 80% of the time) I will like to know the API ticket data uses, instead of connecting to api connected to another api. |

Guy, I'm building a digital subscription web app for a client, I'm looking for a direct api source for sme data subs and other subs.
Feel free to give advice, and share your experience. I also know about the sim hosting method, which should be the only direct source, but based on my research, I think for MTN alone, to the subscribe for the cheapest and most competitive plan, one needs 5.77M. That's why I'm looking direct api sourced from a bulk buyer.
I've also come across api of api of api of a direct source, which I know is not reliable and should be avoided. |
Programming › Re: VTU Api Experts, your advice are needed! by Snotat(op): 4:59pm On Dec 29, 2022 |
bedfordng: Most of the third party API online are not reliable for sme data. It's either they failed to send data to user and when you contact them, they will tell you it was sent.
Also most of them sucks at customer service and very unprofessional. It will look as if they are doing you a favour by using their API.
Sim hosting is not bad if you have the resources to do it and like you've said, to earn decently from SIM hosting, you have to purchase the higher plan which is expensive. The lower plans won't enable you sell at cheaper price.
What most people do now a days is to join resources together to buy the higher plan while they split. WOW, thanks for the reply. Sourcing for an API isn't advisable, but for beginners financial constraints is a problem. Get together a team of investors is also a problem. In case you know a very reliable direct source vtu agent, please share with me. |

PatrickOkunima: Good evening, house.
I own a website that has a portal for clients, VA and admin.
After a client, VA or admin logs in, if he or she copies this link (see attached screenshot) and places same on another tab on the browser, he can access the same page directly without the page requesting for login details.
The same happens even after the page is closed (provided the client, admin or VA) does not log out.
What can I do to stop this?
Your help will be appreciated. Why do they need to login again, just because they open the link on a another tab within the same browser. Have you seen any website that does that? |
Webmasters › Re: Checkout My Portfolio And Nairaland Clone. by Snotat(op): 12:20pm On Aug 06, 2022 |
julybaba: Good morning. First, let me review your portfolio (snotat . com)
1. The front page design is eye catching. Kudos
2. Integrate Recaptcha on the contact page (snotat . com/contact) to prevent spam entries.
3. The text colour (white) is currently conflicting with the background image. You can change it to black or change the background image so the text can be better readable.
Second, let me review your nairaland clone.
1. You show a good data scrapping effort. 2. If you plan to make the clone a formidable project, you need to work on the UI. You can look at the possibility of using bootstrap to argument the frontend & backend designs.
Nice effort. Thanks, I will work on it. Thanks |

noxy1962: Don’t be discouraged by those baselessly criticizing your work and website. There’s nothing wrong with cloning “Nairaland”, it surely helped you learn something new and that’s what is important in my own opinion. Your portfolio website doesn’t look back either, in fact I must say kudos to your use of animation though you might want to reduce it a bit because a lot of it may distract users from the main contents. Also you might want improve on it’s accessibility and background colors. Thanks. |
Programming › Re: Checkout My Nairaland Clone. by Snotat(op): 10:20am On Aug 06, 2022 |
jikins: Una nor get joy for this nairaland. It's very clear he is not good at designs. I was like that when I started. Op try to get portfolio templates online then change one or two stuff to suit your use case. Also like some of the bosses here normally say. Try building real world projects that people can use. Cloning nairaland in my opinion isn't something you spend your time on.
Also try building designs on frontend mentors this greatly help me to better understand designs and how to convert most designs to mobile if I was only given desktop design. But all in all kept pushing you can only get better Thanks. |

TastyFriedPussy: First off, who makes clones of an already shitty looking website? like what are you trying to achieve? And secondly, if I'm to be brutally honest with you, that your portfolio website is the ugliest looking website I've ever seen in my life. Like what the 4uck? I just can't believe that someone with 75% front end skill would build such an eyesore. 75% ohh, not even 20%. I've seen 1000 times better portfolio sites even from devs who've only been learning front end web development for only 6months, not to talk of someone claiming to have 70% front end skills.. Guy, that thing is ugly and looks extremely unprofessional..
My rating? -10/10 Alright, thanks. |
