can you post the research findings and the exact source. i find it hard to believe. some of these research can base their findings erronously on a small unrepresentative sample. |
why are you now only an active poster? |
i have had this debate with friends on various occasions. i am of the opinion that the big actors should be receiving at least 1 million naira per movie, and the less known average of 200,000 naira. any movie insider please. also what about actors in soap such as tinsel? just curious. |
Gabry:i am surprised 24,000 posts. you must have been a mod in past. @ topic, seriously this needs making the homepage. the mods should take these comments on board and act on them accordingly. |

Former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, yesterday, urged the Federal Government to name a public institution after the late winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Basorun Moshood Abiola, to immortalise him. He, however, said such immortalisation should revolve only around things that have to do with democracy. Babangida, who spoke with newsmen at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, shortly after arriving Lagos from Minna, commended the government for recognising Abiola as the symbol of the country’s current democratic dispensation. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo had noted during his tenure as president, that Abiola was not the symbol of Nigeria’s democracy when the process set off May 29, 1999. But Babangida said talks of the nation’s democracy would not be complete if the place of Abiola was not given its pride of place. “I think it is good at long last somebody is trying to acknowledge the efforts of Chief M. K. O. Abiola. We cannot deny him the fact that he fought for democracy and I am glad that the government is accepting it. “Also, I want to see a situation whereby he will be immortalised as a person who fought for democracy in this country.” On how he should be immortalised, Babangida said “well, there are so many things but I will leave that to government. “ I want to see, may be an institution named after him that talks only about democracy. That is the most enduring legacy we can give MKO.” On calls by Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule that he (IBB) and ex-Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, should quit the political stage and not contest the presidential election, IBB said he (Sule) was entitled to his opinion, stressing that the 150 million Nigerians also have their different views on the matter. “This is democracy. You may have 150 million opinions. I have my own opinion and he has his own, you cannot deny him,” he added. Babangida was evasive of his presidential bid, saying simply “the time has not come; when we get to the bridge we will cross it.” He said the number of political parties in the country at the moment was unwieldy, and noted that it should be reduced to five. According to him, the five platforms should be enough for Nigerians to express their freedom of association and political contest. He said: “I am not a believer of 51 parties; the smaller the better for democracy, then everybody will have a place to be accommodated. But you see, there are so many little ones that everybody move toward the winning party. “So, you find, we are more or less running. I think it is better for this country to run a manageable party size of three, four or five.” FROM THE VANGUARD |
mukina2:it appears we both are accustomed to different personalities of the same person. the nicer side to you her fellow moderator but the not so nice side to me a mere mortal. |
mukina2:you can understand kosovo, can you expantiate please . would be interesting to know what moderators think of themselves.oh lice. she is the reason i try to avoid the romance section. any opinionated comments are easily misread as an attack. people are not allowed to have a differnt point of view. too much big brother search light from her and her team mates. she needs to tone down on her use of the ban button. |
1. overzealous moderators AKA kosovo, lice 2. peoples illogical drive to increase their post count AKA mamagee, E l Razur 3. need for more sections which may reduce the number of threads being repeated unnnecessarily 4. undue favouritism by the moderators and administrator for the politics zone ie, over 50% of topics on the home page are from the politics section, therefore risk of neglecting other areas. 5. blanket censoring of words even though when they are used in the right context in sections other than sexuality |
guy you went through hell. very nice write up. are you sure you are an md and not a phd holder in english/literature. on a serious note, you just wonder how much further the country will deteriorate. whats the difference with iraq, afghanistan and columbia? maybe that bombs dont drop daily on our heads, otherwise people are living in bondage. even more sad when the police have become toothless either through lack of equipments of complicity with the kidnappers. congratulations finally on surviving the ordeal. |
IDI AMINS' AID: Mr president the Americans just landed a space craft on the moon IDI AMIN: WHAT!!! We have to better that. We shall land one on the sun. AID: Your excellency, the sun is too hot. It will simply melt the craft IDI AMIN: [after some careful thought] then we shall land at night. |

Michael Essien is suing a woman who claims to be his wife. Dela Ackumey, an ex-girlfriend of Essien’s, alleges that the Chelsea man had performed customary marriage rites while they were together. At first I thought this might be a euphemism. It’s not but the truth is equally entertaining. The allegations against Essien are that he rolled up at the house of Ackumey’s parents with a couple of bottles of Schnapps and some Ghanaian currency, and the couple were given advice on their relationship. This, according to my brief research, is the essence of the customary marriage rites. Seriously. Essien disputes this and is seeking a restraining order to prevent the woman from ‘holding herself as his wife’. Ackumey says she has video evidence to prove that the customary rites took place, while Essien claims that the rites do not amount to marriage in Ackumey’s Anlo tribe. Confusing or what? Understandably, his current partner is not too pleased about this ‘wife’. Anyway, the biggest impact from a Chelsea point-of-view is that Essien has insisted on appearing at an Accra Fast Track High Court in person. Presumably he is hoping this will take place over the summer. UPDATE: Some sources are now claiming that Ackumey brought the case before the court to seek a divorce settlement. Who knows? Who cares? What we know for sure is that Essien is involved in a court case that boils down to whether handing Schnapps to someone’s parents constitutes marriage! FROM OFFTHEPOST.INFO |
