I think people are losing track of the purpose of the thread. It is the AVERAGE salary for a lawyer. Definitely there would be some who earn millions, but others are paid as little as 15,000 as stated above. What we need knowing is the average across states in nigeria and different sectors. |
@ Joanna.T Please realize that some persons here are fastidious. This thread is not about them but about the Nigerian with a WIFE AND THREE CHILDREN murdered by the polish police. Thanks again for your regular update. As reported in some sections of the media the Nigerian government is quizzing its polish counterparts in what happened. Thats pleasing to know. On our individual level, i believe setting up like a facebook/twitter group will be a nice start. I intend to begin one if you or others have not already done so. Weldone. |
The solution to kidnapping seems to have eluded security agencies in Benin as another medical doctor, Osaro Osifo, was on Monday night kidnapped by unknown gunmen at his residence along Nekpen-nekpen Street, Benin City. The kidnapped doctor is attached to the Dentistry department of the Central Hospital, Benin City. Reports have it that the family has been contacted and a million naira ransom demanded. However, members of the Edo State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) are warming up to embark on a strike if the doctor is not released by today. State chairman of NMA, Osahon Enabulele, who confirmed the kidnapping, said the family members are looking for the ransom fee, as the kidnappers have threatened to kill their victim if the ransom was not paid as at last night. “We will stop out-patient services and only attend to patients already admitted and emergency cases, until our colleague is released alive unconditionally,” he said. Meanwhile, residents of Clifford Eweka Street of Airport Road in Benin City, woke up last week Thursday to discover a decomposing body of a young man believed to be in his late twenties in an uncompleted building along the street. The residents, who still live in fear following several attacks by unidentified gun men around its environs, said their attention was drawn to the corpse by some youths in the area who play football behind the uncompleted building. Killed youth The victim, according to a youth in the area, was seriously battered by those who murdered him. The source said the death of the young man must be connected with the recent clashes between two rival cult groups (Eyee confraternity and Blackaxe) in Benin City who were fightihg for supremacy. Residents in the area said they no longer sleep with two eyes closed, owing to several gunshots that are fired at night. The state police public relations officer, Peter Ogboi, said the command was yet to be informed about the incident and promised to contact the nearest police station for adequate investigations. “We call on residents in the area to always alert the police whenever they notice any strange movement in their area,” Mr. Ogboi said. You cant go on censoring everything. Its a free world. Everyone cannot be super-intelligent. You will always have morons and half brains coming up with pictures like that. |
@ Joanna.T Thank you very much for your incisive and unbiased comments. I join you in your efforts at unravelling the truth and bringing justice. People here were already jumping on the bandwagon condemning the innocent fellow nigerian killed without waiting to verify the story. I said it in my posts above, smell the coffee, this is a stitch up. The lesson here is that some nigerians are so unsympathetic towards diasporan nigerians. They are so quick to bash them at any given opportunity. There is need for change of attitude. |
This brings us back to the issue of University training not being an end but a means. People should not rest on their laurels and equate their university certificate to success in life. Invention, innovation, broad mindedness and hard work. Ingredients for success, |
hardywaltz:My exact sentiments. |
People will take your advert more seriously if you past the pictures and tell us the price. |
What do you expect. The so called nollywood is a joke. |
Their backside is rock solid. Nigerians should forget this game. We are going to be walloped. Rather lets focus on the greece and south korea games. |
I wont be surprised if we are defeated by saudi arabia |
Maxi Rodríguez scored two first-half goals as Argentina defeated Canada 5-0 in Buenos Aires yesterday in their final warm-up match ahead of the World Cup. Lionel Messi was left on the bench as Diego Maradona, the Argentina manager, played Javier Pastore up front with Carlos Tevez and Gonzalo Higuain. Rodríguez scored in the 16th and 32nd minutes, and Ángel di María added another in the 37th. Tevez scored in the 63rd and Sergio Agüero clinched Argentina's fifth goal 19 minutes before the final whistle. "There is no friendly match when you are wearing the Argentine uniform," Maradona said. "The guys showed we have a great team – and more. Argentines should relax, we have some tremendous players." From the guardian |
Any chance the match will be aired on sky tv channels? |

In that sense i agree they consider themselves failures. But dont forget real remain the most successful club in champions league history |
larimo:Nice one my brother. People scream when they hear 1 million as if everyone lives in Lagos, want a shoddy job or want borehole for solely for personal use. |
Spyker:Is the la liga title now a minor laurel? |
Its already been pasted above. Read the second post. |
He is an egoistic, big-headed, self centred, arrogant, hypocritic drama queen. There you go. I have said it. |
wrong section. You need to send to the foreign affairs or travel section. |
texazzpete:I was having a discussion with Afam and hence the hypothetical examples i gave. Your phrase "cooking scenario" is hence out of context. What we were saying is that the story simply dont add up and we need more information to draw conclusion or pass judgement. If any of the by-standers are on NL their opinion would be welcome. What we do know is that the polish police chased and killed a civilian. Other issues appear at present as mere speculation. |
Does anyone know the cost of tickets for Nigerian [group stage] matches? |
Same happens in the UK. My employer bans the common social networking sites. Nairaland is obviously not that popular in this part of the world, hence i still visit it regularly during working hours. |
mrkoma2012:Thats what happens when billionaires get bored. Ask Abramovich. |
Just as i dont have cast iron evidence at this point that he was shot by the Polish police, you also dont have one that he was running away from the Polish police. We are both going by what the article above reported. That said, we dont know why he was running away from the police. People can have legitimate reason to. Imagine if he had a mental illness, with florid delusions surrounding persecution from law enforcement? Eastern Europe is renowned for endemic corruption compared to her western neighbours. They police could have been involed in some shady dealings. Again ask yourself, was he armed? If not then why murder him? Why were the fellow traders stoning the police? How come they were that brave to do that? The article smells of a stitch up, and all the pointers are that this was an innocent non-white foreigner killed by the police for an offence not worth the consequences. |
same was said of jean charles de menezes the alledged suicide bomber after the july 2005 attack in london. After he was murdered by 9 shots to the head by M15, the media claimed he was wearing a suicide vest, that he was running away from police, that he behaved suspiciously etc. What happened later is now history and the poor guy has been vindicated. Its easy for you guys to criticise this nigerian, wonder if you will be this cold hearted had he been your brother or father. |
Just wait and see what happens. Dont rush to take any decision. You cannot be prosecuted for your inaction. |
