Its alarming how some of these private school charge as tuition fee. My niece came home yesterday with a note from her school that they will take them on excursion to Olumo rock and each student is expected to pay a whooping sum of 6000 NAIRA. Imagine, just from Lagos - Abeokuta.
Its business first, education second

M.Sijuade:
Regarding the name thing, in my opinion, it doesn't matter where you are born, who you are married to, what you do, how you live, just as long as you are happy with what you are and how it is. Names, not really that important, something sensible and appropriate. No grounds for an argument really uh? I think people should give their babies a name WITHOUT feeling that you have to label them, like an object, or cementing a child’s future by name as ‘one of you’, putting them in a box, like a possession or a belonging. A nice name - pleasing in all senses.
Well spoken

M.Sijuade:
Well, hello everyone! I'm new here! AND I’m in London!

This subject touched me because the reason for me registering on this site was because I am looking for my Nigerian father.  Whilst on the subject – he Christened me with a Nigerian name “Sijuade”.  I am 34 years of age and am keen to find my missing father with whom I have had no contact since 1977 after I believe he was deported from London back to Nigeria. He was known in London between 1975-1977 as Ken Sijuade. He left when I was just 2 years old.

Anyway the reason why this topic touched me was because when my father registered me at birth he gave me HIS Nigerian name 'Sijuade'. Now, as a kid growing up in the 70s (without a dad) in London was quite alternative to say the least. I have to admit I didn't promote my given name BUT as I grew older I have to say that I am SO happy he did this for me. I AM SO PROUD. BUT I want to find him. I haven't seen met him before, this for me is really sad.

I wasn't brought up to believe in religion and he also had me christened, so once again never paid much attention to this fact but I do appreciate and respect his reasons for doing this for me. Anything someone does for you to this degree you have to respect no matter what your beliefs. For me it showed that he cared. I've missed out on a lot - not having a father around, but it’s a long story!

Anyway, whilst I go on, I might just introduce myself, I'm Michelle Sijuade Trafford. And I’m going to ask YOU, would you have any idea where I might find my missing father Ken Sijuade?

This is quite a desperate case.

If you have any information, which might guide me in the right direction to finding him, please, please let me know.

Thank you for reading this.

Much appreciated!

Michelle Sijuade

MISSING PERSON_KEN SIJUADE (Do you know him?)
Yours is a touching story. It would be a remote possibility to find someone who knows your father in here, especially in a country of 150 million people. A good number of the forums members live outside Nigeria.

I would advice you to start a brand new thread in the travels, family and/or foreign affairs section.

Good luck

i thought it's been proved time and time again that children raised abroad can be just as Nigerian as the ones at home, if their parents want it that way.

The only difference is they (naija kids abroad) have electricity, running water, good roads and well paying blue collar jobs while they're waiting for their big break. Aside from all that, they're regular Nigerians.
I disagree. No matter the level of parental supervision there are shed loads of difference.

To my public enemy numero ono grin
Lets see. Igbinedion is a criminal, a convicted one. He stole over 50 billion naira from Edo state, tried shambolically by the EFCC and was made to pay back 12 million naira. You claim he has been silent, and should be left alone to enjoy his loot [presumably with his new bedmates the AC. Your hypocrisy has become palpable. Beggars belief.

If a murderer recieves a one month sentence, would the chief law enforcement officer leave him in peace because he is purportedly silent in the home?

Why i ask you again do the AC refuse to channel their efforts at prosecuting the Igbinedions? They should be chased out of the state. They have rebelled against the people and its government even the traditional institutions have not been spared. Osawaru Igbis has openly defied the Oba on numerous occasions hence his current suspension by the palace.

Is Lucky not you chief sponsorer i ask you again?

that said, i haven't been to Edo state in a while so i cant talk on what is happening there, but oshiomole's statements so far as concerns the yar'a adua issue show's he can actually sell out, this is someone that claims to speak/fight for the masses.
The message needs to be sent out loud and clear to politicians to stop sending their messengers [AKA you know who] to the bloggosphere with the intention of pulling the wool over our eyes

ABSOLUTELY YES. You are not that travelled then. People dont exactly mind origin of names provided it sounds well and has a nice meaning.
You are still trapped in the shackles of the colonial slave trade. Free yourself. Not every thing is "colonial mentality" or a conspiracy.
Its only a name.

At least i am man enough to admit it.
Unlike u who is still too much of a coward and hides under the guise of simply wanting the best for Edo State. ANYONE who reads your post knows your intention. your hatred and obsession is simply too clear
Steady now. Tone down on the offensive language. You dont have to be caustic to engage in a matured arguement. You surely can do better than that. grin

I am not a politician. I do not belong to any party in Nigeria. I dont reside in Nigeria, but visit quite often. If you must know i am a member of the Labour party, a Left-leaning party in the UK. SATISFIED.
You on the other hand is a PAID CARD CARRYING MEMBER OF THE EDO STATE AC. Virtually all you posts.comments/threads on NL are those in support of the AC IN EDO STATE no matter the discuss, they are always on the right, even when the Governor arrested a journalist who published a critical article about him, you were singing the latters praises. The reading public HAS A RIGHT TO KNOW THE TRUTH WHICH YOU SO DEPERATELY WANT TO SHEILD AND HAS MADE ME YOUR PUBLIC ENEMY NUMBER ONE ON NAIRALAND, THEY MUST NOT BE HOODWINKED. Your agenda must be laid bare in the open.

Now over to the NEXT point. Man i am getting too old for this. I need to be paid like you at some point. grin

Oh am i surprised, what a coincidence that the SSG, yourself and hundreds of thugs in the AC were at the complex before trouble even broke out. NOT.

True talk. While you are at the permutations involving the gunners games, also know that their title contenders are bound to drop points most particularly during their matches against each other.

The FACT remains that the gunners are best placed of the top 3, in the absense of silly mistakes or lapses in concentration, to become the EPL champions.

Ohisng; respondee`. No diversion tactics here.

"I will ask you one simple question and PLEASE dont give me mumbo jumbo for an answer;

Why is your boss Oshmiomhole protecting his boss Lucky Igbinedion?

Why has he never condemned him for the billions he looted from Edo state?

Why does he keep attending functions of the Ex-Esama family, drinking, dining, wining, "pepper-souping" and "suyaing" with them?

If he really wants to uproot corruption, poverty and godfatherism from Edo state, why not attack the full AXIS OF EVIL that befalls the state
ie, Tony Anenih, Ogbemudia and Igbenedion?
Why has he focussed all attention and energy on one? He surely is doing his masters biddings namely the latter two."
