Career / Re: How To Become A Lecturer In Nigeria by snowserve(m): 5:21pm On Apr 13, 2015
walexysos:
pls house how can i build my career in becoming a lecturer
Firstly, have the determination to always standout in whatever you do and have good relationship with your lecturers especially your project supervisor because he/she might be in the position to recommend you for greater things in future.

Secondly, plan starting your masters as soon as possible after your first degree and follow up with a PhD. But while planning for all this, you might also identify the institution where you want to begin your career and possibly apply for your Masters there, if you are lucky enough, you might get a graduate assistant role even while studying and move up from there.

Sorry i don't know much about careers in academics, but i hope this helps. CHEERS.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Salary Delay! Which Way Out!!" by snowserve(m): 4:57pm On Apr 13, 2015
viviannkemdilim:
salary delay in private firm... My first month with dm, i was paid after 4days. My second month was paid after two weeks without any explntion. so do others. Well am not disturbed anyway cux my parents are still working and my feeding comes from them. but what i do not understand is their main reason for delay

Well, while i think you should count yourself lucky i will also advise you prepare for eventualities like this especially when you leave your parents' abode so you're not caught unawares.

Many companies that don't fall under the! "bluechip category" are feeling the impact of the dwindling fortunes of the naira, it's just advisable everyone stay on their toes and possibly create alternative sources of income. For your firm, since you are not the only employee affected, i think your ogas should be able to explain the delay.
NYSC / Re: Do The Needful Before "Alawee" Stops. by snowserve(m): 6:27pm On Oct 01, 2014
yetunsbay: It's really a nice and educative write up especially for to-be corp member like mine. One of the skills dats very germane in buz world nowadays is IT. Thou am still an undergraduate & to my self assessmt I cn deduce am deficient in that aspect. If I say semi-illiterate it isn't bad due to the fact that to go & learn rudiment aspect of usage of computer due to some factors.
Now have concluded to purchase a laptop and my questn goes thus-not having quite knowledge how it operate can I still GRAB it workings by operating it myself or taking it to my friends that owns one already and should operate together? Thks.

IT Skills are very important, you can't afford to lack basic IT skills in this century where several things are automated. However, you must complement it with good grades and employable skills to increase your chances after school.

It is good you were able to recognize your weakness at this time you are still an undergraduate. You can begin by getting a friend to show you the basics, also get materials that can help you (Google is your friend). After you might have grabbed the basics, then proceed to learning the usage of some simple softwares like Microsoft office.

If you can afford it, you can enrol for computer appreciation classes in any reputable training school around you. It goes for between 5k-8k the last time i checked, this also depends on your location. But, why pay to learn it if you have a computer and friends that can be of help?

Finally, you don't have to be a computer 'GURU' to get a good job, all you need is working knowledge of several office tools, a good grade backed with excellent employable skills. But I'm not saying you shouldn't learn how to use as many softwares as you can if the opportunity arises.

I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST.
