@soft777 I DO NOT RATION FEED FOR MY FISH, my explanation only shows that with coppens fewer bags are used because of its quality not COST compared to vital or Topfeed. I use 600-650 bags of feed for 10,000 fish when feed with coopens or zeigler and 800 bags for 10,000 when feed with VITAL FEED or TOPFEED. I am not asking for your feed ingredient composition but to know other analysis apart from the main game changer 60% crude protein. Other feed manufacturers states the crude fiber, crude fat and so on. I wonder why u say its a secret. Well hoping to get my hands on a truck load of your feed so I can also see its wonders and dance to the bank.

Just to ask a few questions.

1. What are the guaranteed Analysis of the Gelatin feed outside the Crude protein. i.e
Crude Fat
Crude Fiber
Crude Ash
Phosphorous
Calcium
Sodium

2. For every 1000 fish, I normally use 60-65 bags of Coppen or Zeigler feed. Which is 900kg - 975kg. All bags in 15kg Then when using Vital or its like, they consume 80 bags to 1000 fish which is 1200kg
My question is, how many kg of your Gelatin feed will 1000 fish consume to 1kg and above market size. Thanks

@Robonski and Soft777, the demand for gelatin feeds seems to be more than supply and that necessitated the inflated price by distributors. Please dont try to defend them rather kindly do your investigation and ensure they are not working against your objectives and goals.

Having said that, i want to know whether gelatin feed[grower] and super weight are of the same protein percentage. If the [grower] is 60% crude protein @ 200 per kg, how do we ensure lower prices of between 150-180 per kg as canvassed by Soft777 in his Feed formulation discussion since the idea is to reduce cost of feed in order to maximise profit?

Again, According to an Article posted by Prof Robonski concerning adulterated feed and some popular feeds protein contents being lower than what their products claim, how is the quality assurance going to be extended to the distributor so the end users wont fall into the same sharp practices we are running from.

What is the implication of using gelatin feed 60% crude protein [grower] to formulate individual feed say 40% crude protein to reduce cost since adult catfish doesnt require as much protein to perform very well

You & co are really doing wonderful job by taking your time to go into series of research to arrive at a feed with 60%crude protein. This is indeed awesome, and it going to transform the industry provided the supply would spread across the country and able to coop with the demand

Pls permit to bear my mind, at this point, on the topical issue on ground. i.e. the formation of an Association-AFFON.

Firstly, I want to commend Robonski and others for their useful contributions on this thread. There is no doubt that you are making positive impact on the lives of fellow fish farmers and that you are going to continue to impact positively in the future.

Secondly, let me highlight some issues that have led to a kind of altercations in the formation of the Association, as observed by me in various discussions and contributions by members:
1. Who owns or will own the feedmill you are proposing?
2. Who are the beneficiaries of the output of the feedmill?
3. Who are going to take responsibilities for any liabilities that might occur?
4. Who will contribute to the assets of the feedmill?
5. What are the conditions and/or qualifications for membership of the Association?
6. How is the organogram of the Association going to look like? Who is responsible for what?
7. Who are going to be officers/leaders of the Association and what are their responsibilities, tenure, qualifications, etc?
8. Of recent, how are the members going to meet and at what interval?

Thirdly, I want to say the more you continue to think about forming the Association, the more the questions that will be arising. This is because forming of a trade Association should be well planned and processes documented for future reference. For sustainability therefore, we need to ruminate well about most of these questions to enable us have a formidable and sustainable Association. We should NOT base the formation of the Association ONLY on our cordiality (engendered by friendship and benefits we are deriving or that will be derived in future from this thread) today; there are some guidelines and procedures to follow. And, we must not jettison these for sustainability. We cannot afford to miss the opportunity of doing things in proper manner, not because of today but for the future. I know many of us are active members of many other clubs, society, associations or movements and in their formations. We need people to serve this Association in "embryo" to be nurtured to growth.

I wish we have a Constitution for the Association before nomination of officers started but since it has started, I have no objection. But the most important thing is to ensure due process is followed so as forestall any disagreement or growse that might occur as a result of the way we form the Association.

Finally, I want to suggest to the principal actors to help us write a Constitution for the Association, display the Constitution for everybody to read and make contributions. In fact, the constitution is very important for registration.We will also need a bank account for the Association, etc,
