SportsStay At Anfield –rush Advises Salah by solbase10(op): 11:55am On Dec 26, 2024
Liverpool legend Ian Rush has urged Mohamed Salah to pen an extension deal with the club.

Rush knows what it means to be a top class goalscorer for the Anfield club, having led Liverpool to domestic and European titles.

In a chat with Liverpool Echo, Rush advised Salah to stay put with the club and not follow his footsteps.

“I’d love him to extend his contract. We don’t know what will happen but I’m sure every Liverpool supporter would love that as well.

“I left because I wasn’t playing regularly. I just wanted to play football. I didn’t want to sit on the bench and that’s what you’ve got to look at. I left here to go to Leeds United because I wanted to be playing week in, week out.

“I looked at (Robbie) Fowler and (Stan) Collymore, they were doing really well together, and I didn’t want to be sitting on the bench. I was enjoying my football and that’s the reason why I went to Leeds.”

He added: “But that was my situation, it depends if you are happy sitting on the bench or not. But Mo’s not even got to that stage yet so no, there’s not really any reason for him to go yet

SportsLeverkusen Join Race To Sign Chelsea Star Defender by solbase10(op): 9:26am On Dec 24, 2024
Bayer Leverkusen have joined Juventus in the race to sign out-of-favour Chelsea centre-back Axel Disasi.

Disasi regularly featured under Pochettino last season and was an important player for the Premier League outfit. However, since the appointment of the former Leicester manager, the former Monaco centre-back has struggled for opportunities this season – only playing 184 minutes in the English top flight so far.

Whilst the France international’s contract at Stamford Bridge runs until 2029, he could be set for a departure, perhaps as early as January. Juventus are interested in the defender, however, they don’t have the financial means to pull off a deal, as things stand.

Bayer Leverkusen, however, may. The club may lose Jonathan Tah and are therefore anticipating his departure by drawing up a list of potential replacements. Disasi features on this list and the Bundesliga side have sounded out the defender’s entourage regarding a potential move. Should Tah leave, Bayer Leverkusen could make their move for Disasi.

SportsCAF Awards: Afenifere Lauds Lookman, Nnadozie, Super Falcons’ Achievements by solbase10(op): 7:49am On Dec 20, 2024
The pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and socio-political organization, Afenifere, has lauded the achievement of Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman, Chiamaka Nnadozie, and the Super Falcons in the CAF awards in Marrakesh, Morocco.

In a statement issued by the organization’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi, Afenifere congratulated Lookman for claiming the African Player of the Year Award, the Super Falcons for emerging as the Best Women’s National Team of the Year, and Chiamaka Nnadozie, who bagged the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year 2024.

“Afenifere is proud of this young man. Not just for identifying with his roots but also for comporting himself so well and for standing as a source of inspiration for the younger generation.

“We recall his reference to his past failures, which he did not allow to dampen his determination to succeed. We are happy about his choice to play for Nigeria and being proud of it.”

Ajayi added that Lookman’s message to the youth is quite remarkable and instructive. The seventh Nigerian to be the number one football player in Africa had admonished against allowing one’s failure to induce discouragement. He had said, “Don’t let your failures stop your dreams.”

Afenifere’s spokesman lauded Lookman’s parents for making their son identify with his roots “even in his moment of glory.”.

“Adebayo’s saga is a testament that with the right attitude, hard work, and determination, one can overcome challenges and attain great heights.”

SportsThings Arsenal Must Do To Become EPL Champions –henry by solbase10(op): 9:10am On Dec 19, 2024
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has explained what the Gunners must do to become Premier League champions again.

The north London club went close in the last two seasons but ended up in second place behind Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta’s men are also in the title race this season but unlike the last two campaigns, they now have the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and City to contend with.

“A lot of things need to change in order to win the Premier League,” Henry was quoted on Arsenal News Central.

“When I see Liverpool play it looks like they’re trying to win it and others look like they’re trying not to lose it.

“If you’re going to win the league you need to grab it and win it. You have to find a solution.

“In my team they helped on the other side right. Everyone needs to score and be important. Freddie Ljungberg used to make that run in between lines and score.

“If you want to be champions, people adapt to what you do. What are you going to bring year on year?”

The Gunners are currently in third place after missing the chance to close the gap on Liverpool following their 0-0 draw against Everton at the Emirates.

SportsMan United Legend Urges Amorim To Sign Arsenal Star by solbase10(op): 8:38am On Dec 18, 2024
Legendary Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham has urged Ruben Amorim to raid Arsenal in order to bolster his team’s midfield.

Amorim is currently preparing for his first transfer window as United boss.

United will be able to add to their options from January 1 through to the deadline at 11pm on February 3.

Sheringham has called for his old club to make an audacious move for Declan Rice as a ‘statement’ signing to kickstart the Amorim era.

Sheringham told Genting Casino: “I said a couple of years ago, Manchester United should have got Declan Rice.

“If they went out and bought Declan Rice off of Arsenal, that’d make me laugh, because that’d obviously make Arsenal weaker and make United even stronger.

“He’s a proper player that leads by example. That’s the type of player that you need in your football club.

“When you’re making a statement about a new manager coming in and buying new players, that is the type of player you buy. Declan Rice all day.”

Lazio manager Marco Baroni has demanded more work from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, reports Completesports.com.

Baroni also opined that the Nigeria international can become one of the best midfielders in the world if he can improve his game.

The midfielder starred in Lazio’s 3-1 UEFA Europa League win at Ajax on Thursday night.

It was his second goal in the competition for the Biancolesti this season.

“Dele-Bashiru comes from a different football where he doesn’t need as much focus,” Baroni told Sky Sport Italia.

”His physicality is devastating and he has good technique, but where he needs to improve and he is doing that is matching the speed of his brain to his legs. When he does that, he becomes really a remarkable midfielder.”

SportsBatshuayi Can Step Into Osimhen’s Shoes –yildiz by solbase10(op): 12:38pm On Dec 10, 2024
Galatasaray insider Eyüp Yıldız has backed Michy Batshuayi to bang in the goals for the team in the absence of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.

Galatasaray on Monday announced that Osimhen suffered a muscle injury during Sunday’s Turkish Super Lig clash at Sivasspor.

The club further said no timeline has been determined for when he will be fit again.

Osimhen scored from the penalty spot as Galatasaray won 3-2 at Sivasspor to consolidate their leadership of the league.

However, with the absence of the Nigerian international, Yıldız, in a chat with habersarikirmizi.com, stated that the Belgian star will get the job done for Galatasaray.

“Osimhen is out for 2 weeks but I trust Batshuayi. He will be effective when he plays as a classic centre forward and not as a link player.

“Batshuayi is an effective name in the penalty area and around it, he also has aerial ball superiority. The only problem is that he misses a lot of goals but Osimhen was missing too.”

SportsSerie A: I’m Not Disappointed Losing To Lazio –conte by solbase10(op): 11:03am On Dec 09, 2024
Napoli coach Antonio Conte says he doesn’t feel disappointed seeing his team lose to Lazio in the Serie A.

Recall that Napoli lost 1-0 to Lazio at home on Sunday to surrender the Serie A lead to Atalanta.

Speaking after the game, Conte stated that the team will learn from this defeat and improve on it.

“I think this match clearly showed that we are on the right track, because our idea of football is to be aggressive, take the initiative and try to create dangerous situations when in possession.

“We certainly need to improve on our crosses and final ball, this is not the first time we’ve spent a lot of time in the opposition final third and didn’t make more of that.”

Conte also insisted: “I am definitely not disappointed with the performance, because the lads gave their all, showed spirit, determination and were up against a very good Lazio side. They are not up there as a fluke in Serie A and Europe.

“I am not disappointed or unhappy. I know we are on the right track and inevitably there will be some bumps in that road, there will be again in future, but I saw a team that is aggressive, wants to control the game and what we need is more quality in the final third.

SportsAmorim Expresses Interest In Bayern Munich Defender by solbase10(op): 12:35pm On Dec 04, 2024
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has expressed his interest in Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies, TEAMtalk can reveal.

Davies has been frequently linked with United of late, given his contract with Bayern Munich is set to expire at the end of the season.

This has made him one of the most sought after left-backs in the world.

TEAMtalk has been aware for some time that the Red Devils would like to land Davies if possible.

Now, according to sources, United have taken the next step, checking in with the Canadian defender himself to gauge his interest in joining the club.

It’s after Amorim greenlit the operation, which would be a free transfer in the summer or a potential cheaper transfer in January.

Either way, United won’t overpay for players, as they wan’t to undertake cost-cutting measures, so Davies is the perfect type of player, given his status plus the fact he’ll come on the cheap.

The left-back position is a priority for United, which is another reason they are so keen on the Bayern man.

Indeed, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have both had their fair share of injury troubles, with neither man reaching 100 minutes yet this season.

That has seen the left-back position occupied by players not all too familiar with it, and Davies would rectify that if his Bayern contract is not renewed, which reports suggest is still possible.

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has vowed that the team will do everything to revive their Premier League title ambition against Liverpool.

Recall that the Citizens are eight points behind Liverpool in the race to win the Premier League title

Speaking with the club’s website, Gundogan stated that Man City will rise to the challenge and get the job done against Liverpool.

SportsOdegaard Left Out Of Norway’s Nations League Squad by solbase10(op): 12:40pm On Nov 12, 2024
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard will not play for Norway in their upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Slovenia and Kazakhstan.

Odegaard was omitted from Norway’s original squad for this week’s crucial fixtures as his side look to seal promotion from Group B3.

He flew out to Oslo on Monday for assessment by Norway’s medical staff to determine if he was fit enough to be involved having made his long-awaited comeback from injury for Arsenal in last week’s Champions League defeat by Inter Milan

Odegaard – who also captains Norway – then started and completed 90 minutes for his club in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League.

But it has now been decided that he needs more time to continue his rehabilitation and build full match fitness before being available for international football again.

“After discussions with the medical staff at the national team, we have unfortunately concluded that the situation is not good enough to play these matches,” Odegaard said.

“I’ve been through a long training period and when you haven’t practiced football in the last nine weeks, it’s natural not to be 100 per cent yet.
“I need to listen to my body, complete this rehab process and get my foot back in good shape. The hope has always been to be able to play the national matches, and if I hadn’t played on Sunday, it would have been out of the question to participate anyway.

“It’s a very bad feeling to lose these games, I love playing for Norway and with this team. But I have great faith in the boys and wish them the best of luck – there are still good opportunities to win the group.”

Odegaard suffered significant ankle ligament damage on his last appearance for Norway in the Nations League against Austria in early September, an injury which ended up ruling him out for two months as he was forced to miss 12 matches for Arsenal across all competitions.

He finally returned with five minutes off the bench against Inter at the San Siro before making his first start since August and completing the full match at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Chelsea has been a resurgent force this season, finding themselves in fourth place with 18 points in 10 matches, after slumping to sixth last season.

Their form was somewhat checked by a Manchester United side that had faced a week of chaos to top even their high standards.

The Red Devils had sacked Erik ten Hag and swiftly recruited Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim, but they were forced to rely on interim Ruud van Nistelrooy on Sunday due to Amorim’s long notice period.

Now, according to The Sun (via msn.com), it appears that European heavyweights are gearing up to exploit the uncertainty over the 23-year-old’s place in the Chelsea side, as Inter Milan and Barcelona are leading the charge with both sides believed to be keen to add Fernandez’s quality into their midfield.

The Argentine is reportedly ready to earn back his place in Maresca’s starting 11 but is not prepared to spend a long time on the sidelines at Stamford Bridge.

SportsSlot: Salah Has No Plan To Leave Liverpool by solbase10(op): 11:34am On Nov 05, 2024
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has reiterated that Mohamed Salah has no plan to leave Anfield any time soon.

He stated this while reacting to a comment made by the Egyptian international via his social media handle.

The Dutch tactician said that a few of Salah’s comments have been misinterpreted by the media and noted that he has no intention of leaving the club.

“Then I should have spoken to him about what he said if that was a reference—or yes, or no. But I haven’t spoken about him; we’ve spoken about Leverkusen because that team deserves all of our attention for the quality they have.

“So, no. He is out of contract at the end of the season, and Virgil (van Dijk) said something in the press, and now he (Salah) has a post that you interpreted in a certain way.

“This will probably continue for as long as their futures are not clear yet. But in the meantime, let’s hope that they bring in performances like Mo had and Virgil had as well during the weekend.”

Amuneke’s side endured sustained pressure from the hosts until Chukwuma Agor’s 95th-minute goal sealed the game, putting it beyond reach for Imama Amapakabo’s team.
