U might call a rather silly question bt believe u me wen I say it has caused a very heated argument where am currently viewing the premier league games. some are of d believe that God is a sport loving individual Himself while some are of d notion that God has got absolutely nothing to do with neither football or any other sport whatsoever. Now am very certain NL is blessed with lots of people with vast knowledge in both sport and religious issues, Now the big question is "does God answers prayers we offer to Him concerning sport ![]() .....Note:-I didn't create this topic to cause rancour or aim at any denomination, bt rather to brighten our knowledge and understanding concerning the topic. Thanks in advance for ur matured contribution. |
While the dwarfs themselves might not be unusual, it’s the sheer number of them that’s perplexing. At one point, as many as 120 of them were spotted, which just could not be a matter of chance. The probability of stunted growth is about one case in 20,000, which means that there has to be a very specific reason for the phenomenon at Yangsi village. In 1997, a new theory suggested a high concentration of mercury in the soil, but it hasn’t been proven yet. Naturally, the villagers began to believe that evil forces were at work. Some blamed the bad feng shui of the area, while others thought it was because their ancestors were not given a better burial. But the most bizarre explanation so far states that a long time ago, a man named Wang spotted a black turtle with strange feet. Some of the villagers wanted to let it go, but they ended up roasting and eating it. When the disease struck, they started to believe that they might have been better off releasing the turtle. Some people blame toxic gases from when the Japanese invaded China many years ago. But the Japanese never reached the village of Yangsi, a fact that the villagers are not willing to accept. Throughout the years, several residents have left the region in fear of being affected by the strange condition, but things seem to be improving. While many of the older locals are up to 80 centimeters in height, the new generation seems to be unaffected by the weird dwarfism phenomenon.
|
According to the writings of the District officials, the strange disease was discovered in 1951. The victims back then were described as having short limbs. A census was conducted in 1985, discovering about 119 such cases in the village. Apparently, the disease did not stop with the original victims; it was passed on to the next generation as well. While Chinese authorities aren’t exactly denying the existence of the village, they haven’t opened the place to foreigners yet. So all we have to go by are a few photographs of the natives and some very bizarre rumors. Although the condition was officially recorded in 1951, reports of dwarf sightings date as far back as 1911. In 1947, English scientist Dr. Karyl Robin Evans claimed to have seen a few hundred dwarfs living in a remote valley, in the area where Yangsi is located.

Yangsi, a remote village in southwest China’s Sichuan Province, has baffling scientists for decades. Around 40 percent of its inhabitants are several heads shorter than the average human being. 36 of the village’s 80 residents are dwarf – the tallest one is about 3 ft. 10 inches tall and the shortest, 2 ft. 1 inch. That’s too large a percentage to be categorized as random occurrence, but so far no one has been able to provide a better explanation. Today, because of the large number of height-challenged residents, Yangsi is known as the ‘Village of Dwarfs’. According to village elders, their peaceful, happy life was ruined on a summer night many years ago, when a vile disease struck the region. Several locals suffered from a mysterious condition that mainly affected young children between the ages of 5 and 7. These children just stopped growing, remaining at the same height for the rest of their lives. Apart from their inability to grow taller, some of the victims also suffered from various disabilities. Scientists and experts visited Yangsi, to study the water, soil, and grain in the region. They also examined the affected individuals in the hopes of gathering a few clues. However, they were unable to determine the cause behind the condition. It remains as mysterious today, as it was some 60-odd years ago.

Anthony Joshua is a man-mountain and consumes a mountain of food — that's 4,500 to 5,000 calories a day during training — to fuel his 6ft 6in, 17st 12lb world champion frame. On Saturday the IBF heavyweight king takes on Wladimir Klitschko, hoping to add the IBO and WBA belts to his collection. Ahead of the Wembley showdown, Sportsmail's Riath Al-Samarrai spoke to his nutritionist Mark Ellison to learn more. Breakfast Five eggs with a couple of avocados and a little bit of lime, seasoning, plenty of spinach and three pieces of toast. Blender full of fresh fruit with oats, yoghurt, milk and generous helping of honey. Lunch Big serving of pasta with vegetables, tomatoes and two full chicken Bosom s. Dessert is a large pot of yoghurt with fresh fruit, nuts, honey and granola. Big portions. Dinner Fish, sweet potato, quinoa, rice, fruit juice. Dinner tends to be protein based and includes dairy or nuts to fill him up before bed. He will also have a protein shake made from the protein casein which releases quite slowly throughout the night, aiding recovery. Cheat food On rare occasions he will have an apple pie or apple crumble with custard. He also likes chocolate. Fight day meal strategy During camp the focus is on wholegrain carbs — brown rice, wholemeal pasta, wholemeal bread. On the day of the fight it switches to white rice, white pasta. Will also switch to white meats, for ease of digestion. His prefight meal will be consumed three to four hours before entering the ring. Secret weapon Joshua typically takes in caffeine during training and enjoys coffee, but in fight week it gets cut right down. On fight night caffeine is re-introduced with the aim of giving him a jolt.

An Upper Area Court sitting at Pankshin in Plateau on Friday remanded a medical doctor, Philemon Brazil, in prison for allegedly r*ping his patient. Brazil, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence. The Judge, Mr Joseph Chollom ordered the remand of Brazil in custody and adjourned the case to May 22 for further mention. The Prosecutor, Sgt. Singbon Hosea, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 25 at the home of his victim. Hosea explained that the rape victim had a history of miscarriages and had been a patient of the doctor before the incident. “But my lord, on that fateful day, April 25, when he visited the patient, as usual, he went too far by forcing himself on her and ended up r*ping her. “By that action, the accused has committed offences of r*pe and act of gross indecency, contrary to and punishable under Section 283 and 285 of the Penal Code.’’ He said that after the arrest of the doctor, the police conducted HIV test on him and that the result was negative. Hosea also told the court that after the r*pe, the woman suffered yet another miscarriage. The prosecutor asked the court to remand the accused in prison, pending completion of investigation on the matter.

Four years after his initial lawsuit was thrown out, a Kenyan lawyer has petitioned the IJC following the killing of Jesus Christ. After having his initial lawsuit in 2013 thrown out, a Kenyan lawyer, Dola Indidis has taken the Israeli government to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), over the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. According to Kenya Daily, Indidis intends to use the Bible as evidence in his pursuit of justice over the death of Jesus Christ who was killed by the Jews over 2000 years ago and is confident of winning the case. The fiery lawyer renewed his lawsuit in March 2017 with the petition to the IJC and wants Israel to be held responsible for the trial, crucifixion, and death of Jesus Christ on the cross. According to court papers, Indidis, a former spokesman of the Kenyan Judiciary, accused the state of Israel of atrocities committed against Jesus Christ during the ancient times and urged the court to hold the country accountable for the inhuman torture, pain, and disgrace Jesus Christ was put through at that time. Defending his move before journalists, Indidis said: “Evidence today is on record in the Bible, and you cannot discredit the Bible. I filed the case because it’s my duty to uphold the dignity of Jesus and I have gone to the ICJ to seek justice for the man from Nazareth.” The controversial lawyer also involved other parties in his legal suit and among those he included in the lawsuit are Pontius Pilate, King Herod, the Roman Emperor Tiberius, Italy and a number of Jewish elders. In his petition, Indidis also exacted the kind of questioning used during Jesus’s trial, questioning, hearing, and sentencing.

He is also one of only two three-time FIFA World Player of the Year winners. Zidane won the Golden Ball as the MVP in the World Cups of 1998 and 2006. Zidane played his first professional First Division game for Cannes and quickly rose through the professional ranks. He sealed his reputation by scoring two goals in the World Cup finals of 1998, helping France defeat Brazil to claim its first-ever World Cup championship. Extremely passionate and a leader by example, he came first in an online poll conducted by UEFA.

Pele – called “the Black Pearl,” was the greatest soccer player in the history of the game. With a career total of 1280 goals, he may have been the world’s most popular athlete after he was named Athlete of the Century by the world’s combined National Olympic Committees in 1999, though he never played in the Olympics himself. In March of 2002, the jersey Pelé wore in the 1970 World Cup final sold at auction for $220,850. Pelé became Brazil’s minister of sports in 1995, serving until 1998.

Maradona is an icon in Argentina. As a soccer player, he took his team to new heights and became a hero to sports fans – many of whom referred to him as “San Diego.” He also took sports paychecks to new heights, claiming unheard of salaries in trade after trade. Maradona was plagued by cocaine addiction, though, and his career came to an early end. His performance included two memorable goals against England, one scored with his hand (the referee mistakenly thought the ball struck his head) and now remembered as the “Hand of God,” and another that saw him dribble through a pack of defenders.

Cruyff was known for his technical ability, speed and acceleration, but his greatest quality was vision, based on an acute sense of his team-mates’ positions as an attack unfolded. He is believed Cruyff superior to any previous player in his ability to extract the most from others.

Müller was short, squat, awkward-looking and not notably fast; he never fit the conventional idea of a great footballer, but he had lethal acceleration over short distances, a remarkable aerial game, and uncanny goalscoring instincts. He could turn quickly and with perfect balance in small spaces at speeds that would cause other players to fall over. He also had a knack of scoring in unlikely situations. With national records of 68 goals in 62 international appearances, 365 goals in 427 Bundesliga games and the international record of 66 goals in 74 European Club games, he was by far the most successful striker of his day.
