To give you a very candid advise, pls don't go into it. The car business is not one an a thin skinned person will go into. These are my reasons:

1. Nigerians love freebies, they want the best but don't want to pay for the best. That's why dealers only import salvage cars that have been deemed irreparable in the US and Canada. They fix those shabbily and sell here. That's the only way to cut a decent profit.

2. Except you have another source of income, Cars takes too long to sell. I'll advise you only import if there is a ready market for it else you risk not selling. I have seen cars on stand for up to a year, though that's an extreme case. An average a car takes to sell is about 3 to 6 months.

3. There are other ways to venture into car business rather than importting. You can start by being a local dealer first. Contrary to what you might believe, Nigerians are buying lots of used cars. A lot of high priced Nigerian used cars have an available market that you can venture into.
