Since I started following football Arsenal has never had a midfield this bad. The best midfield we ever had under Emery was when it was rotated btwn Xhaka, Torreira, Ramsey and Ozil.

..... We simply don't have those players anymore and the constant changing of midfielders isn't helping much. Both Xhaka and Guendouzi both like to play from deep and Torreira is a roaming 4 not an actual box to box. We tried him at box to box last season but that didn't work out.

... The problem is that Guen and Xhaka are slightly different players but are more or less doing the same thing. Simply bench one for the other and play Torreira beside the chosen person. Then put a number ten there. Emery doesn't know what he actually wants yet; an industrious and mobile midfield or one that will play his pass from the back perfectly. He should pick one and put the chosen players there. The tinkering is getting out of hand.

..... Exactly, he didn't structure the midfield well at all. It was good in the first half but went to shit in second half. I honestly don't know what he told them in the dressing room but he needs to rally the boys after this defeat. He has to pick his first starting midfield for them to get chemistry and stop with the tinkering already.

Me that don't have UEFA coaching license, I knew want to and not to do before the game (at least on terms of line up). Emery chose the cowardly route, and his very much to blame, as well as the players. In fact, his tactics made it difficult for the players.

Another thing, remember when we were discussing about Auba? This match just showed the thing I hate most about the guy, he misses too many chances (granted they were half chances).

.... I don't know why he left Ceballos on the pitch for that long but I think he had Tottenham in mind. Hopefully before we play City, our full backs will be back. Liverpool didn't create so many chances until much later in game but they took their chances. I think Emery did well, just that a few of the players let him down.

.... Regardless, I think we did well regardless of the scoreline. Auba didn't come to the party at all. I mean Pepe who isn't a natural forward held up his own well. Pepe just needs to settle down and more importantly Emery has properly structure our midfield. Our midfield doesn't have a structure yet. Tell each individual what to do and what's expected of them. Today's game clearly showed our lack of structure as Ceballos didn't know what his role was on the pitch.
