Spain - Always strong at this level.

China - When they do make it to an U20 WC and North Korea is not present, then they need to be watched closely

Follow-Up: Super Falcons’ UK Trip Called Off After Jamaica Pull Out

Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons, will no longer embark on their planned training tour of the United Kingdom later this month after their proposed Caribbean opponents, Jamaica, withdrew from the arrangement, SavidNews can confirm.

The United Kingdom trip as exclusively reported by SavidNews, initially scheduled for May 23 to 28, was expected to provide the Super Falcons with valuable preparations ahead of the Morocco 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which will also serve as qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Nigeria Football Federation had arranged the friendly to make up for the team’s inactivity during the March FIFA international window when planned matches failed to materialise.

Some senior and regular members of the squad were already expected to miss the tour due to club commitments, while plans had also been made for another friendly during the June 7 to 14 FIFA international window.

Head coach Justine Madugu had hoped to use the UK friendly to assess new players, test fresh options, and further strengthen his squad ahead of WAFCON.

However, the cancellation by the Caribbean side has now forced the proposed UK camping programme to be called off.

A top Nigeria Football Federation official, who spoke anonymously, explained that the initiative for the proposed match originally came from the Jamaican Football Federation due to the large number of their players based in Europe, particularly in the United Kingdom.

“The initial plan for the friendly in the UK was proposed by our Jamaican counterparts considering the huge number of their players in Europe, especially UK. However, we were still in talking process with the team but the friendly was later canceled due to few administrative issues,” the official said.

“The single-friendly match could have helped us see some new players and also help the coach step up his preparation for the WAFCON. However, we are now focused on the June window as we’ll secure two-legged friendlies to be played in Nigeria with a WAFCON-bound team. We are already finalizing the process.”

Nigeria remain Africa’s defending champions after winning a record-extending 10th continental title last summer, with the technical crew continuing efforts to build a competitive squad for future international assignments.

Nigeria maintain their proud tradition of qualifying for every U-20 World Cup!

But Coach Anduku has his work cut out for him, as this team needs massive improvement, especially in the midfield to attack transition phase.
Three things to note from this match
1. No more minnows in African women football
2. Our Women league needs a resurgence
3. We need to return to our grassroots

His Naija National Teams Journey did not begin today but since 2022 when he was appointed Match Analyst for the Super Eagles. He was supposedly 26 then and had a Uefa B Licence. Now he has Uefa A Licence. Growth. ✅️

Will the NFF allow this guy work, choose his squad without any interference? He looks too young and I think he will easily be manipulated.

Yep. All figured out. The other bracket will see a likely Ghana vs SA clash in the 5th

I feel Morocco in the 3rd round will be the biggest test. Jorge Vilda and his ladies will wanna prove a point however they can, by hook or crook.
And this where I get worried with African football politics. That game may be a reward to Morocco. Lets keep our fingers crossed and let the best team win. NFF should be smart enough to play the politics well, organize friendly matches and try out some new girls.

Chiamaka Nnadozie and Brighton squeeze out a 3-2 win over the WSL league leaders, Man City.

Nnadozie with 4 fine stops.
Especially a last min save in the 90+5 mins that would have drawn City level.
It's time Nnadozie left Brighton to a bigger club. She is just too much.

Kelechi Nwakali finally played his first game of the 2025/26 League one season yesterday.

Seems the sadist, Conor Hourihane finally caved in since he could not secure promotion and not even a playoff spot.

At least, good to know the lad is still football-alive.
Nwakali may do well as a football coach.
