lol lawani: The Phoenicians are the ancestors of Arabs. They referred to Europe as I Europa meaning westerners. When Arabs became Muslims and Europe prospered without accepting Islam, the name Europa came to mean those who prospered without submitting to Allah. The Songhai were Muslims and they corrupted Europa to Yoruba giving the name to the oyo empire because oyo prospered without submitting to Allah. The name is proto Arabic being originally of Phoenician origin. |

Family › Re: Will Your Children Have A Traditional And English Name? by somehow: 12:10pm On Jun 26, 2020 |
mrblessed: Yes, it does and there is a racist undertone that undergirded the emergence of foreign names in Africa, be it Christian or Islamic. Christianity and Islam condemned almost all aspects of African culture and encouraged an adherent to look down on his culture and appreciate these foriegn, inorganic cultures. There is something called arabization in Islam, that is, the process of making a non-Arab Muslim disengage from his culture and embrace Arabic culture in the guise that it is a prerequisite to accepting Islam. Just look at northern Nigeria today and see for yourself how Islam has destroyed Hausa culture and civilization built for hundreds of thousands of centuries. The change of name or the bearing of a foreign name is one of the processes of instilling inferior complex on a person or people.
For Christianity, European clergy didn't see any relevance in African names and ignorantly declared them as "barbaric." Therefore, it was fashionable for a new adherent to jettison his African name that is steeped in meaning and philosophy, and accept an imposed name he doesn't understand and which concealed his identity and history.
There is an ongoing fraud being perpetrated in African churches today called "baptism." As a Christian I don't have problem with the sacrament of baptism since Jesus Christ, our role model, epitomised its significance by blazing the trail and giving it universal acceptance and endorsement. However, the Master didn't take a new when was baptised by John and even if he did, would He have taken a Jewish name and not a Roman or Greek name? It begs the question: why did racist Europeans impose their names as a criterion for baptism?
The readily available answer which Christian leaders, who have been assigned to supervise the promote European culture at the detriment of Africa culture will tell you, is to cite the example of Apostle Paul. But Paul wasn't the model of the Christian faith, and he didn't choose a foreign name, why treat Africans differently? Again, the claim that we need to choose a name of saint during baptism and confirmation is fraudulent, because it presupposes that Africans aren't capable of producing saints. So, just make do with a "super" but utterly meaningless European names.
Yes, when you take and bear an European or Arabic name, you undermine your culture and unintentionally participate in the promotion of a foreign culture that is unabashedly anti-Africa.
Why call it foreign name? Just call it what it is: European or Arabic name. You are blessed! A man alien to his history will surely get lost in other peoples history! |

Starboytwo: EPL gangan is the meaning of competitiveness, serious, joke apart... which league can you even mention? where everybody can beat anybody.... see i never play premiership in my bet9ja tickets, predictions dont work in that league, home advantage dosent really count, its whoever plays the best that usually wins, so we see different teams come outside the dogouts and tryna win at all cost, millions of people pay premium money to watch that competitive league....
one day i discovered something about laliga, barca vs some club like that sha(u knw they have funny names) footage inside the dogout and you can see the goal keeper of the opposing team looking at messi and already looking so sick in his mind i guess he be like " 'oh God, which kain wahala be dis ehn?,this guy go score like 4 now...even before match start, him mind don concede like 4 goals... na league be dat? abeg you are late to the party I have given my reasons already can't be going back and forth I don't have such luxury enjoy your afternoon |

Starboytwo: its not very easy bros, as you can only start earning from the last 4 or 5 years if you wanna stake on liverpool and man city to make top 4, wheareas id have make 30 billion if i only and 'consistently' predict madrid and barca to be 1st and 2nd... as a matter of fact, as from 2010, 4 teams, namely Man utd (2), man city (4) Chelsea(2) Leicester(1) plus Liverpool this season have all won the Epl.. thats 5 different teams in 10 years.... see the stark difference with la liga where even an aborted baby wey never breathe can confortably predict the first 2, nd maybe the 3rd... in the last 9 years barca has won (6) Madrid (2) athletico sole (1), this season its btw them as usual...
la liga is bland, i cant bare to watch celta vigo vs elche or whatever, from highlights self that i manage to watch sometimes, their stadias are not encouraging, maybe like 30 people go manage enter stadium watch match..... you go fear EPL, ordinary burnley vs everton lasan, everywhere go FULL, people go dey lap theirselve.... abeg carry la liga comot for here, we talking money, you talking i sabi book....
Barca and madrid have won 16 OF THE LAST 19 LEAGUE TITLE, na league be dat... abeg... do you understand my argument at all? all the top five leagues in europe do not qualify to be called the most competitive! |

England -8 ..
Just 2 difference.
Don't worry, it will reduce to 1 when Manure win another one this season and the la liga clubs that won majority of the 10 trophies are poor clubs o compared to your epl money bags that don't have shame! how many out of top 4 clubs in the epl are among the 4 europa winners? how many have the kind of lean purse in la liga? |

Edopesin: 20years ago and they have no champions league to their name while Chelsea and man u have CLs and have also won the Europa League a couple of times so how did you managed to get that conclusion?
Sevilla is living on past glories because they don't have up to half of the money these clubs have they have done extremely well where money meant less give la liga clubs the kind of money epl clubs have and watch epl sink epl is the richest football league in the world yet struggling to win the international trophies with less funded leagues my point still remain that none of the top five leagues is the most competitive! the media and money is what is defining it and and not statistics! |
