No club play in surulere not even first bank, union bank, ikorodu utd (moved to ogun stated), COD, Ebedei nor MFM.
OMANBALA1:
How much do people pay to watch those EPL matches ? When I still dey Naija all you need is a bottle of beer and you wouldnt have to worry but this was some 14 yrs ago.Now let me address the issue of poverty you raised, if you are gonna have 20,000 people to travel from around Lagos state to national stadium Surulere to watch a local league and pay 3000 naira to watch a match then you will realize how poverty plays a role. A person who earns 20,000 monthly will not waste 3000 to go watch some karate exhibition in the name of soccer. Now, factor the security aspect and transportation and people would rather hang in there street and watch el classico.....Ononenyi

Govt should force private individuals to invest in the league or how do you privatize govt clubs?

You need the crowd before you can sell to private entity. Football is business and business is people.

One thing I will force govt to do is to make cable TV extremely expensive, then ban all local stations from airing foreign league.

LMC is a private entity!
Humility017:
you make me laugh...see how you taking pride in a league where close 10 clubs are owning their players...and many can't pay their players good salaries....

you expect me to sit down in a sunny day watch their match...?

not until the clubs are auctioned out to private bodies for management and the clubs drastically reduced to let say...

20clubs..........NPFL
20clubs...........NNL2
16 CLUBS.....NNL1. ..A
16 CLUBS....NNL1.....B

each state of the federation should provide 2 clubs each....other football clubs and academics should be affiliated to this football clubs by geographical location...

the clubs should be privatised....solely managed by corporate bodies....

the LMC should also be privatised in the senses that the npfl sponsor e.g GLO in time past should take up the management of the LMC....wit nff having some reps as board members...

the Nigeria military should be encouraged to be one of the league sponsors....where they will help provide security at match venue.....
until some of this silent points raised above and some other persons are adopted...the Labour in vain who strive to market this league.....
10 out of 20 is not owing. You see what I am saying about uninformed comments on this thread?

Only 2 out of 20 clubs defaulted last season and their reason we all got to know.

1 out of the 2 was even on match bonuses (Enugu rangers).
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 11:45am On Jan 06, 2018
Yes, same have not so good grass (like 2-3) but the rest are okay. Those who entertained violence (only against refs and sometimes officials), none against spectators. Infact it's been ages we heard anything about violence against spectators.

We have also seen heavy hammers being landed on those who try to break the code of conduct. Some being basnished to far away states, some to play indoors (Enyimba was a culprit). Some forfeited points, some paid whopping fine.

Yes Ubah had issues with Efcc which affected him paying on time.

Some of our league players earn #200k upwards monthly.

No NPFL player earn below #80k per month. (LMC law).
Danycrusoe:
u seem to be the only person aside bascovanveli and icons97 who hv given the truest opinion about the league.

I vnt encountered violence in the stadiums I v visited altho I must say that it happened a few times last season. that's one area that needs to be sorted.

2. some stadiums are awful (eg rwang pam stadium, Jos and Elkanemi stadium) but 80% are decent with the artificial grass, more of natural is needed.

the issue of salary is caused by corruption and political games, private clubs don't owe, the reason ifeanyi uba owed his players was because he had issues with the efcc last year I think. Mfm, Remo stars Akwa united, Kano pillars do not owe and I know Rivers united v the money it's just politics
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 10:37pm On Jan 05, 2018
We had about 2-3 privately owned clubs in the season that just ended, with time, more will come in. No stadium in the league is horrible, you won't even be allowed to host any match there.

soetanoreoluwa:
Thank you

Concerning the pitches I can see caterogically that NPFL team have a very good pitches...
I have seen some live matches with good fans and sold out ticket of popular stand....
People are coming out to see the matches especially with this LmC organisation..
Just need to give it to Oga Shehu Dikko he has done a great job...

Last season oyo state govt turned down nairabet proposal to buy the club...
And he signed a sponsorship deal with the team with coaster bus..

We need as public private partnership ...it will help and go a long way...

And new set of younger players should be introduce to the league
He has truly and really tried, also with the introduction of youth teams and kids league (primary school) pupils before 15 years.

Are we there yet? No, but we have left the old for the new.
For anyone to still paint the league with the brush of 10 years ago is wickedness.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 10:33pm On Jan 05, 2018
You only mentioned 2 out of 20 clubs. How's that a fair judgement of the league? Hungry players? Rivers State owed those guys for 5 months and the governor claimed there was no money which was a lie because few months before then he traveled with Entourage to Spain for some yeye football meeting. You can't use that isolated case to judge the rest who made sure the players were paid.

Rangers wasn't really salary, had more to do with bonuses.
tbaba1234:
A few weeks ago, we saw Rivers United players begging Governor Wike for their wages. There was a similar problem with Rangers, i believe, during the season.

As much as LMC has done good work and the league is much better, we still do have hungry and angry players. This improvement has been gradual. Salary standards were introduced just a couple of years ago and it was not followed by clubs at the start.

There are still serious problems with the league.
Problems caused by Nigerians.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 9:57pm On Jan 05, 2018
Just irritating reading comments on the league from people who know little or nothing about the league. Some have never gone to watch a league match for years now but are quick to use 10 years ago incidence to judge the league.

It's personal to me because a country with no working league is as good as useless future wise.
Oasis007:
You are taking this Issue too personal. I think this Topic is raised to proffer Solutions, to suggest the possible ways of improving the League.

Kindly be patient, coz no one is willing for the death of the Local League.

I never for once called them bums, rather I said they are no longer up there and facts support me.
BascoVanVeli:
Down play was the word I used. I don't care what league u say they are in the point is they are not bums like u implied
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 9:54pm On Jan 05, 2018
Which league are you talking about here? Have you gone close to our league players before? I am not talking about 5 years ago, I'm talking about our players since LMC took over. Don't be surprised if you discover they are fresher than you. I have had close contact with them and I put it to you that alot of them are fresher than office workers.

Go to the field of play hungry and angry? Maybe some of the new comers but certainly not known names. Some clubs owe salaries but majority aren't.

Horrible pitch? Now I know you no nothing about the LMC led NPFL.
OMANBALA1:
I am not crazy about European football but I will not hurriedly criticize those fanatics that go to bed with Chelsea and Arsenal jersey, because like Icons4 said it takes a lot of faith and patience to sit down and watch Nigerian league...It is pure torture because of the standards:horrible pitch, frustrating officiating , karate kicking players and the hungry and angry players who are playing with empty stomach and this is coming from an ardent Nigerian league follower.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 7:44pm On Jan 05, 2018
Like you have ever made excuses for them before. Well maybe because I'm a stallholder in the league. The refs aren't the problem of the league, the problem with the league is the lack of attention given to it by the Nigerian public. Even if the games are live on the, it still needs humans to make it a football match. What is a league without followership?
Oasis007:
grin

We all want the best for the League. I hope there will be improvement this Season, since all the Matches gonna be aired "Live". I expect our Refs to buckle up, we can't be making Excuses for them every time. If their Problem is Security, let them fully demand for it from the Board.

They should not go on the Pitch to officiate until their Security is guaranteed. We can't really say our Refs are better, coz there is no Evidence to prove it.
Let them? Who's the "them"? Police won't see reason why a stadium with less than 200 spectators would need up to 10 policemen, but imagine a situation whereby we have 20k people watching live, they have no other option than to post at least 100 security agents to the venue.

It's easy to sit out and be pointing fingers though.

Patronise the league and see if it won't grow or become better.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 6:38pm On Jan 05, 2018
Bad officiating is as a result of home team officials putting pressure on the refs and with less security men around, refs are humans, they get to succomb so as to leave their unhurt. Some of our refs are even better than those you watch on TV but because of what I stated above, they are made to look bad which in turn affect them outside Nigeria.

We are the main reason we aren't being respected outside. The places I went to watch live matches with peace and security, the refs made few errors which aren't different from what we see abroad. Let people come to stadiums to watch and see if the refs won't do well.

The league of 80s and 90s that had no violence due to the fact that the stadiums were always filled up, were they not Nigerians officiating these matches? Na because we dey see easy access watch foreign league just as other things in Nigeria, we decided to abandone ours. We keep painting it bad to justify the abandoment.

Make we continue o. Angel Gabriel is coming to fix the league.
Oasis007:
Sir Icon4s has said the plain Truth as regard the State of the NPFL! I was an ardent Follower last Season, and hopefully gonna be a Fan this Season too.

I followed 3SC and MFM FC, it's kinda a pity 3SC is relegated, but all Hope ain't lost coz MFM is there to support this Season.

One of the major Problems of the Local League is; bad Officiating! I really give Kudos to Shehu Dikko led Board. They are really doing their best to improve the League standard same as the Officiating!

The Good News is; all the NPFL Matches gonna be aired Live on Startimes (NTA Sport Channels). We gonna have the Opportunity to watch the Local League, and I expect Viewing Centers to show the Local League for FREE.

The League viewership would definitely improve this Season, and I implore Members of the Thread to, perhaps, create a Thread for it.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 6:29pm On Jan 05, 2018
Well I don't see it that way though maybe because I watched almost up to 10 live matches in 2017 and I believe those who say negative stuffs about the league are part of those killing the league. You aren't contributing to the league yet you bad-mouth it. So I ask, what then do you add to the betterment of the league?

We like to blame others too much in this country that is why the league is the way it is.

Since I have been watching live matches in our league, I have never encountered any violence even though some venues get violent.

Alot of countries all over the world have got theirs too yet their stadiums still get filled up.

Is our violence up to that of major south American leagues or that of some eastern European leagues?

Same way you can't rig an election with massive turn out is the same way you can't cause nuisance in a filled stadium. How many dey cause mayhem? A handful and it is only possible when the stadiums are scanty.

Anyways let those who keep growing other leagues around the world continue while expecting "others" to build their league for them.
Icon4s:
My brother, you wouldn't blame those guys at the viewing centers watching the European leagues o.

We have failed to develop our own.

It takes a lot of patience and humility to even watch the NPFL in your living room not to talk of taking the pains to drive or transport your self to the match venues where your safety is not even guaranteed.

Even me as a person that still manages to once in a while have the appetite to watch the NPFL, I only watch selected matches involving the big clubs like Enyimba, Kano Pillars and Rangers. As I said it takes a lot of patience and humility to even do this in your own house. grin
What I mean is while some people are watching Chelsea vs ManCity elsewhere you are watching Rivers united vs Kano Pillars grin grin grin

And the 20k is to come from where? The sky? They are all busy in view centers arguing about those who know nothing about them and when you point to our league, they look for other Nigerians to blame.
OMANBALA1:
See stadium. I think I could count like three spectators in the stand. Nawaa ,we gotta do better. How do we bring people out to watch Nigerian leagues because I think that is one of the reason the standards are so poor. Your mentality will change when you see 20,000 spectators in the stand waving flags and screaming.

From the date, you guys might gel and maybe the guy is even worth $20m or has got connections that can get you x 50 of that #200k in a year.

For short sighted people or anti-risk takers #200k is okay.

For deep thinkers, risk takers, a date should do.

No, no longer a very good side not even in Asia.

North Korea and Japan remain the 2 major forces in Asia, then south Korea before china, Thailand et.c

Coming to the world stage, they are very low down the pecking order. (Comparing the last 2-4 years). Check their stats to confirm my stands.

Their league is good but not their national team (I mean being ranked among the first 10 in the world.currently 16th and 4th in Asia

Are the clubs owing not Nigerians? Nobi Nigerians dey there? Meaning if anything is to be fixed, na Nigerians go need fix am. I don't complain when I ain't ready to go fix it. Complaining without working towards fixing it is a lazy man's way of solving problems.

When last you went to watch any of our league matches? The more people at the stands, the less the violence because the govt will take security serious but when the stadiums are scanty, the govt look away and miscreants end up reigning surpreme (+ home teams and officials)

Unnamed club sending in offer? In this jetage?
mazimee:
Leicester City Receive Offer For No-Nonsense Midfielder Wilfred Ndidi

Leicester City have received a concrete offer from an unnamed club who are interested in signing Wilfred Ndidi in the January transfer window.

The central midfielder has received rave reviews following a string of fine performances in the Premier League this season.

''There are many teams interested in signing Wilfred Ndidi, Leicester City have received one serious offer,'' a top source close to the Leicester City number 25 told allnigeriasoccer.com.

''He is not leaving Leicester in this window, he is enjoying himself at the club and happy there.''

Ndidi has played 11, 225 minutes in total since moving to Europe in 2015 from Nath Boys Academy, despite the fact he celebrated his 21st birthday three weeks ago.

He is expected to be named to Nigeria's World Cup roster and a move could be on the cards in the summer if he shines at the tournament in Russia.
