Celebrities / QUEEN Nwokoye-Don't Carry A Gucci Bag Because Kim Kardashian Is Carrying It by sonoble: 5:09am On Nov 30, 2016
Queen Nwokoye has had more than a steady run in the movie industry since she joined in 2004. She might not have been as prominent as expected in the beginning, however, Queen has continued to reign over the Nigerian home video and has remained relevant ahead of her peers by sustaining her relevance with hard work and a talent that can’t be overlooked.

Speaking with BroadwayAfrica TV on why she never gave up even when odds were against her, Nwokoye said, “What brought me and what has kept me is my passion for the job. Money is good, the attention is good but I stayed because of the passion I have for it. It is a bit frustrating when you are doing something and it is like you are not being appreciated for it or recognized for it but the passion surpassed it, so I stayed. The rest is history.”

Celebrities / Ksa, Asa, 2baba, Dbanj & Wizkid Gear Up For Supremacy Concert by sonoble: 11:25am On Sep 15, 2016
The organiser of highly anticipated Supremacy Concert has said the selection of KSA, Dbanj, Wizkid, 2face and Asa to perform at the concert is based on the need to provide entertainment that cuts across age, gender and preference.
‘we are catering for people from two generation and different taste and preference when it comes to entertainment. Our focus is not just on youths or upwardly mobile, we are catering for the corporate guys and the elderly. If you don’t like KSA, you will like Wizkid, and if your preference is soul music, Asa wil be on hand to provide that and as always 2face will be dishing out his classics from hip hop to contemporary Afro pop. And the pure entertaining energy of Dbanj will cut across as well. So it is not a concert restricted to a particular audience’ Jide Oyalowo who works in the media part of the concert said.

The much-talked-about Made-in-Nigeria(MaIN) Festival have lined up an impressive list of performers for the maiden edition of the Supremacy Concert to hold on October 1 at the Eko Atlantic, Lagos.

The Supremacy Concert will be the climax of a seven-day event which would attract dignitaries such as His Excellency, the Vice-President of Nigeria Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, CBN Governor Mr Godwin Emefiele, Minister of Power, Works &
Housing Mr Babatunde Fashola, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, Ronald Chagoury, Mr. Ben Akabueze D.G. Budget Office among others.

The Made-in-Nigeria Festival is being organized by MaIN Group, a collaboration of private sector organisations. Board of Advisors of the initiative include: Prince Adesegun Oniru, Mr. Aliko Dangote, Dr. (Mrs.) Stella Okoli, Mr. Ronald Chagoury, and Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The music concert will feature music acts such as King Sunny Ade (KSA), Asa, Dbanj, 2Baba and Wizkid. This would be the first time these entertainers would grace the same stage in the history of music concerts in Nigeria.
Tickets for the concert are being sold on the organisers’ website, www.supremacy.mainfestival.com or .
KSA who started his music career in the 60s is known for his captivating voice and electrifying dance steps which has endeared him to many. He has many blockbuster hits to his credit among which is ‘’Merciful God’’, ‘’JaFumi’’, ‘’Sweet Banana’’, ‘’Aiye Nreti Eleya Mi’’ and others.

2baba is regarded as one of the stars of the decade as he is unarguably one of the country’s best exports ever since he released the hit single ‘’African Queen’’ which made the album go platinum.

Asa is an internationally acclaimed singer and song writer who has sold more albums than her contemporary acts, she performs in and out of the country at will.

Dbanj is not doing badly as he is not just a musician but an entertainer and businessman all in one. He is known for his stage craft and he is a fans’ favourite.

Wizkid is the only Nigerian artiste to have been featured by more than three International artistes this year alone. Canadian Rapper and Song-Writer Drake featured him in his song ‘’One Dance’’ a track which was number one in the US and the UK for several weeks.

Career / The Pr/success Lesson I Learnt From Etisalat-samuel Olatunji (bigsam) by sonoble: 10:46am On Sep 14, 2016
[img][/img]Like many Nigerians, I have four lines. The most dominant and frequently in used lines are the MTN and Airtel but the one that fascinates me the most is Etisalat. I have learnt a lot of PR, Branding marketing and success lessons from Etisalat more than any of my lines.
[img][/img][img]
I used data plan from Etisalat before I stopped like two or three months ago. After I stopped, every morning I receive two messages from Etisalat reminding me that I do not have sufficient credit to re-subscribe the data plan. I have received another two this morning.

If Etisalat were to be human, and a Nigerian, we would have tagged them ‘hustler’ because of the daily messages.

The telecommunication company keep sending me the messages from Sunday to Monday like a ‘small company’ hustling for ‘small change’. If you do not know how big Etisalat is; you will be forgiven to think the company is one small ‘hustler’ with the way they send these messages.

I have thought about the ‘hustling attitude’ and learnt great lessons from the little unknown company that was the last to come into the telecommunication market but has changed the way marketing communication is done in the industry.

One, keep hustling when you become big like you are still small. The challenge with small-minded people is that, they think they are big when they are actually still small and they stop doing some things that work for them.

Keep asking, keep learning, keep at it and repeat all these actions after you have gotten what you set out to get. Don’t get to the position where you don’t care about that one customer or where you are too big for the things that used to work for you.

Etisalat, despite being a big corporation know that, what ‘brought’ it to the stage of ‘big corporation’ was working hard, hustling on daily basis for that one customer, going after one naira like it is one million.

So it is with brand-building, marketing and success, you need to keep at what is working. You need to be persistent with the actions that gave you the winning edge. It is ploy of the ‘enemies from your village’ (i.e if you are an average Nigerian...lol) to discontinue the winning and working formula.

Be persistent with what is working, it is the secret of those who win consistently.

Linda Ikeji isnt the only Ikeji that went through a lot because of deprived upbringing. The popular blogger has in time past shared stories of difficult childhood due to lack of money. This time it is Laura Ikeji, her younger sister. Laura whom many sees as 'bully' was actually bullied and 'pummeled' in secondary school. She was once accused of theft, and when she stood up to the principal, she was suspended. When next you see any of the Ikejis, know that their lives is not bed of roses, but now God has given them several bed made of rare roses, diamond, gold and many good things of life in an exclusive Banana Island of the rich and famous.

Sports / Despite Taking Drug, Sharapova Couldn't Beat Serena Williams by sonoble: 12:28am On Mar 08, 2016
Former world number one Maria Sharapova has revealed she failed a drugs test at the Australian Open.

The Russian, 28, tested positive for meldonium, a substance she has been taking since 2006 for health issues.

Sharapova, a five-time Grand Slam champion, is provisionally suspended from 12 March pending further action.

“I did fail the test and take full responsibility for it,” said Sharapova, who won the Wimbledon title as a 17-year-old in 2004.

“For the past 10 years I have been given a medicine called mildronate by my family doctor and a few days ago after I received a letter from the ITF [International Tennis Federation] I found out it also has another name of meldonium, which I did not know.”

Celebrities / The Hates On Omoni Oboli by sonoble: 12:44pm On Feb 29, 2016
About six years ago when Omoni Oboli made a big return to Nollywood after a 10 year break, her intention was clear, she wanted to play big. She featured in Anchor Baby (a huge commercially successful movie), signed up with Ope Banwo management then and was the biggest news item. Few years down the line, Omoni worked on her craft, went to New York Film Academy for acting and directing classes, carefully selected her movies and started producing her own movie. Fast forward to 2016, Omoni has become the number one highest box-office grossing queen.

omoniii

Despite this huge achievement Omoni still gets a lot of hates from many insiders and outsiders in Nollywood. Why? Many wonder why she will be an A-list actress after just few years in the industry and with few movies, whereas, the likes of Genevieve, Omotola, Rita Dominic and Mercy Johnson have been around longer and done hundreds of movies before getting to where they are now.

‘Omoni still needs more years before we can start comparing her to other big stars. She did few movies and many automatically think she is big’, a discussant said recently at a private gathering.

What the discussant didn’t mention is that she has had the privileges of doing big budget movies. From Anchor Baby to Figurine, Being Mrs Elliot, Fifty, The First Lady and the likes, Omoni has the grace of being at the right place at the right time.

In the past five years, Omoni’s gross box office earning has risen to about N168 000 000 with cumulative figures from Figurine, Anchor Baby, Being Mrs Elliot, The First Lady and Fifty. Her N168 000 even beat Genevieve Nnaji’s box office earnings from Tango With Me, Half of a Yellow Sun, Ije, Mirror Boy and Road To Yesterday.
