Career / Re: The Reality Of Overqualification - Are People Getting Overqualified? by southern1(f): 5:50am On Apr 09, 2010
smiley I'm pursuing a PhD (should be completed the end of this year/early next year) for one of the reasons the original poster stated, for academics (I would like to be a university professor as my side gig while I continue my day job as a forensic scientist). smiley I am in forensic science and a PhD isn't required but it won't hurt should I decide to go into the research end of it. I'd also like to add that an advanced degree in my field does help with regard to pay at some employment locations. In some organizations, I have seen that someone such as myself holding a Masters in Forensic Science may make more than some with just a Bachelors degree in criminal justice, an exception to that rule in some organizations is DNA. wink Well, just adding my two cents. cheesy

what about wine collections?

LOL, what about the other whine meaning round up and collect all the whiners/people who are always whining/complaining about something and put them on their own special island so the rest of us don't have to hear them whine. hahahahahahaha grin

I see a potential torturist in d making

LOL!!!!!!!!!! No I would never do anyone any harm. cheesy I strictly love skulls etc from a scientific standpoint. Not from a torturist, serial killer or other devious standpoint. grin

I can understand and even relate to the bones one, I'm fascinated with skulls too, I developed that fascination while working in a coroner's office doing autopsies while I attended grad school. grin I just loved the skull and brain, I even had a thing for the spinal cord. Heck, I enjoyed performing the entire autopsy itself. I guess it's a good thing I chose the forensic science field or else I'd be considered extremely weird for having these fascinations. wink
Romance / Re: Can You Tell Your Partner Your E-mail Account Password & Your Atm Card Pin? by southern1(f): 12:41am On Apr 01, 2010
I would gladly give my husband or boyfriend my email account password(s) but not my atm password(s).   Equally, I wouldn't expect my husband or boyfriend to give me his atm password but would expect him to give me his email account password(s).  In my line of work I have seen too many instances of couples splitting up and one party discovers  that the other party has cleaned out the bank account(s) prior to announcing the split.  Thus, I do not believe in having only a joint account as a couple.  Sure, we can both open an account together to pool money for bills, entertainment etc but I think that each should maintain their own personal accounts.  Heck, we could just keep two seperate accounts and just decide ahead of time who will be responsible for which bill(s) and simple pay them from our individual accounts.   grin Not everyone may share this ideology but again, in my line of work I've seen the financial and other horrific devastation that can occur when couples stop being nice and things turn ugly.   Not a pretty picture.
Romance / Re: In Pursuit Of Happiness--will You Take Her Back? by southern1(f): 3:41am On Mar 28, 2010
I would stick with him, although I will have a reasonable time limit for him to make this dream become a reality/come to fruition.  I'm not a dream killer.  If a brotha is seriously trying, I'd work with him.  If we're in a relationship we're in it together and I expect him to support my dreams and vice versa.  As for taking him/her back after 'making it', I don't think I would because he/she should have been there when the going was tough, not wait until the going is good and now want to share in the rewards.  Because what happens when all of a sudden the riches disappear again, they'll hit the road again and traumatize the child once again.  That's what's wrong with a lot of society today, instant gratification.  Everyone wants everything fast and easy and don't want to work for things. smiley  The want the guy or girl who already drives the mercedes not the ones who are taking the bus or driving a hoopty who will someday drive the mercedes. smiley

InesQor, thank you for the comment. smiley I must say that I do enjoy my job. But what I'm trying to now do as a side hustle is branch out into teaching at the university level.

Fashion / Re: Why Is Pink Mostly The Favourite Colour Of Ladies? by southern1(f): 2:52am On Mar 16, 2010
smiley for the most part my favorite colors have been gold and green. when i was in college i began to get more into pink because my sorority's colors are pink and green. smiley i only do pink and green together if i'm at a sorority function. perhaps because of always doing the pink and green at functions i tend to do other colors in my everyday life, hehehe

Travel / Re: Where In The World Would You Like To Live? by southern1(f): 5:41am On Jan 21, 2010
I visit the caribbean every year and would LOVE to live there, as another poster said there's just something about the oceanviews, I personally love gazing into the turquoise waters. Ok, I've awaken from the dream, I guess for now I'll have to accept the fact that I live in Southern California. cool
