Crime / Thief Wrote Apology Letter After Breaking In & Stealing From A Church In Uganda by Sparky12(m): 4:58am On Jul 17, 2019
From: collinsuchendusblog.com

A thief last Sunday night broke into a church in Nyandarua County, Uganda and then wrote a letter apologising for his action.

This was after finding no cash in the church. The incident comes a few months after members of the public lynched three suspected criminals specialising in stealing from the churches.

During the Sunday incident at the Pentecostal Evangelistic Fellowship of Africa (PEFA) Church in Engineer Township, the criminal wrote a letter addressed to the church regretting that he had found no money despite having been informed by a worshiper that some good amount of money had been left there.

“I was sent here by one of your fellow Christians who told me that the amount of money has been kept inside the church. But I got nothing. God bless you all and pray for me. Thanks,” read the letter.

He then signed out as “the person who broke the church”. See below.

Rev Peter Wanyoike said the thief destroyed part of the church’s iron sheet walls to gain access.

“We found the letter in the church when the police arrived to commence their investigations. He believed there was some money in church; we have forgiven him. We are praying for him to get saved. He is welcome to confess and worship with us,” said Rev Wanyoike.

Worshipers also said they had forgiven the thief but expressed concern over rising cases of crimes targeting churches.

“What shocks us most is the confession letter. He had all the time to rummage all over the church looking for the money and then write the confession letter in his own handwriting. He must have attended the church or has an informer. Maybe it is only the timing that was wrong. He needs prayers,” said Faith Wairimu, a resident of Engineer town.

Car Talk / N30b Worth Of Seized Vehicles Waste Away In Various Warehouses - Nigeria Customs by Sparky12(m): 8:52am On Jul 13, 2019
From: collinsuchendusblog.com

Thousands of seized vehicles estimated to cost about N30 billion are currently wasting away at various warehouses of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) nationwide as bidders prospect for opportunity to buy them on the e-auction platform.

The Guardian learnt that the vehicles, including exotic brands and top models, were either abandoned by importers or seized from smugglers across the borders, seaports and other locations.

Among those sighted by The Guardian are Mercedes Benz G wagon and various Mercedes Benz 4matic models, Hummer, Mercedes Benz, Range Rover Evolution, Ford Edge, Toyota Land Cruiser, Highlander, Toyota Hilux, various models of Lexus, Porsche cars and a host of other sport utility vehicles (SUVs) from Ford and Toyota brands. There were also a variety of trucks, salon cars and buses.

The seized vehicles, many of which have reportedly gone through the process of court condemnation and are awaiting auction, are detained at the border stations, seaports commands and at the Federal Operation Units (FOU) in Lagos, Owerri, Benin, Bauchi, Kaduna and Kano.

The Comptroller-General of the NCS, Hameed Ali, had introduced an e-auction platform (app.trade.gov.ng/e-auction) on July 3rd, 2017, which recorded little progress due to some glitches being experienced with the digital technology.

The last phase of the auction had only 806 vehicles uploaded on the platform, and bought by 753 bidders. It generated about N346.1 million. Another phase began late May this year, but The Guardian learnt that it did not last one month before it was shut. At present, the e-auction process has stalled, due to the banks’ e-wallet challenges.

Customs Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller Joseph Attah, confirmed to The Guardian that the banks’ e-wallet challenges posed difficulties for bidders in making payment.

“The e-auction is active and still on. Just that bidders at a point were experiencing difficulties in making payments through the e-wallet. The CGC had a meeting with the managing directors of the affected banks who promised to sort out the challenges at their own end. Uploading will continue immediately the banks are ready,” he said.

Attah had earlier told The Guardian that some of the vehicles in their custody were due for auction, while others were still undergoing court processes.

“It’s not everything that you see there that must be auctioned. There are several conditions that are keeping some of them. There are those whose cases are still in court, and we have no right to auction them. We don’t have control over the court, and we don’t know how long the cases will take,” he stated.

When contacted, some banks, which were reluctant to comment on the issue, said the customs should sort out its problems and stop apportioning blame. The Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc (NIBSS) said the NCS should mention the specific problem for it to know how to intervene.

Some of the vehicles at Seme Customs, FOU Zone A, Ikeja, Idoroko Command, and TinCan Island Command in Lagos are already depreciating and losing value due to the wear-and-tear caused by the long period of packing.

In its reports, the NCS said some of the vehicles were intercepted during attempts to smuggle them into Nigeria. Others were seized for being used to convey smuggled items.

The spokesman for Seaport Terminal Operators of Nigeria (STOAN), Bolaji Akinola, said over 5,000 vehicles were rotting away at the ports alone, taking over the space that could have been used for incoming goods.

“The available spaces in the ports are being overtaken by overtime cargoes, including vehicles, and this is unfortunate. For several years, government has refused to auction the vehicles, and nobody can remove them except they are auctioned by the customs.

“The advantage of auction is two-fold: it will make valuable space available in the port for other cargoes. The law provides that any cargo in the port, after 45 days, has become overtime cargo, and it automatically becomes government property, and in a move to free the space, government auctions them. Apart from freeing the space and reducing ports congestion, it will also help raise the much-needed government revenue.

“What is the economic sense in leaving vehicles at a particular space to rot away for years? So, we appeal to customs that whatever modality they want to use, (e-auction or manual auction), they should auction them,” Akinola stated.

A clearing agent, Benson Izuora, decried a situation whereby vehicles would be allowed to rot away when millions of Nigerians are seeking to buy them.

“It is unpatriotic and a waste of resources. Sometimes I begin to wonder what is happening to this government, some officials seem not to know what they are doing. We all know that the country is in dire need of funds to implement the 2019 budget. Why not auction all of those vehicles and earn money, rather than letting them waste away. If the e-auction is not working, they need to do something about it, or go back to the manual system,” he said.

While the customs decides how best to sell the vehicles, some unscrupulous people are taking advantage of the situation to exploit innocent Nigerians on the social media, by posing as officers coordinating the auction, among others.

Some of them were even bold enough to use the NCS official Facebook account to perpetrate the fraud.

One posted: “Nationwide auctioning is currently ongoing now. Impounded vehicles for sale in a cheap and affordable auction price, interested buyer should kindly contact… on …9296.” The fraudster listed about 30 vehicles for auction with prices ranging from N350,000 to N800,000.

Another person, with a woman’s picture on his page, said: “The 2019 NCS auction is ongoing. Purchase cheap bag of rice, clothes, groundnut oil and cars. Call the marketing officer on …05892.”

When called by The Guardian for a Lexus 330 SUV, the fraudster was discovered to be a man with a completely different name who identified himself as a customs officer at Idirokko Command in Ogun State.

The responder who appeared to be well grounded in the deal said: “Lexus 330 is available. You have to come down to Idirokko in Ogun State. We also have some in Badagry/ Seme Border. You will need your border permit and your inspection form for you to come inside the border. If you want to get your border permit, I can process it for you, it’s just N7,500, while the inspection form is just N5,000. You will take the inspection form to the warehouse where you want to inspect the vehicle. We need to process the paper. If you are buying it now, we will create a fake document for you here, which we call the clearance paper to clear the vehicle. This is just N85,650,”

At the end of the discussion, he said the total cost of the Lexus 330 model was N1.2 million. The Guardian learnt that the model goes for between N3.3 million and N3.5 million in the market.

When probed further on the need for border permit since the vehicle was being auctioned, he changed the point, saying, “You need it to bring the vehicle from our premises into the country.” He banged the phone when more enquiries were made about his real identity.

The NCS has disowned the “fake officers”, saying it does not auction vehicles, rice, vegetable oil, and other items via social media or third party.

It stated in a notice, titled “ Facts about car auction”: “If it were the way the public is misinformed, then every customs officer would be driving an exotic car. NCS officials work, earn salaries, and plan for life, just like every other person. Auctions are not a function of just the NCS alone. There are a total of 18 government agencies involved.

“NCS never advertised auctions on Facebook or Twitter; it has never offered jobs on social media and cannot transact any business using the personal bank account of any official. Fraudsters feast on your gullibility, greed, or desperation. You have been warned,” it stated.

The 26 year old video vixen is among the people up for possible election on Sunday. Sadly, Mercy made it to the list after Frodd used the Veto card he won yesterday to save his nominated self and replaced with mercy.

None of the housemates nominated Mercy for eviction but she unfortunately made it to the list. The saying that what will be will be has never made so much sense until Mercy fell victim of this unfair situation.

The light-skinned lady who could not hide her fears confessed to Diane this afternoon about how scared she is towards Sunday’s eviction. Mercy said” “I don’t want to go home.”

Sports / “We Do Not Expect An Easy Game But We Are Not Afraid Of Algeria” - Super Eagles by Sparky12(m): 9:40pm On Jul 12, 2019
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are preparing to face Algeria, one of the best teams in African football at the quarter-final stage of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

As the preparations gets more intense, Super Eagles team coordinator, Patrick Pascal has stated the Nigeria team will respect the progression of Algeria to the semi-final of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations but they are not afraid of them. The team coordinator of the Eagles also used the opportunity to remind Algeria they failed to beat the Super Eagles Nigeria in two recent attempts.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUk1YvC5bO0

The Super Eagles will face Algeria at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt on Sunday. The Desert Warriors of Algeria defeated the Elephants of Ivory Coast 4-3 on penalties after the regulation time action had ended in a 1-1 draw at Suez Stadium on Thursday night. Nigeria on the other hand saw off the Bafana Bafana of South Africa 2-1 in Cairo.

“We are glad our opponent in the semi-final of Afcon has been revealed and it is Algeria,” Pascal told Goal. “We already knew before the encounter that it could either be Ivory Coast or Algeria and at the completion of the game, the Algerians were able to edge them. We respect all the opponents we have faced at the Afcon but we are not afraid of any of them.”

“We have faced the same Algerians twice like two years ago and they were unable to beat us in two games. We know that they are now improved a lot but we have also not remained the same since our last game in Algiers.

“We do not expect an easy game but we are hoping to do what is necessary to ensure that we qualify for the final of the competition. We have remained very humble at the ongoing competition and it will be the same approach on Sunday in Cairo.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2pStBKf5FA

“We have an assignment at hand and it is to tell the players the importance of the semi-final fixture,” he continued. “It is not that the players do not know the seriousness of the game but we still have to remind them so that they will put their attention to it and not allow anything to distract them at this point.”

“We have come this far and it is possible to win the competition again. We are going to do our best to make Nigerians happy. Algeria is a good side but we have our confidence back with the way we beat Cameroon and South Africa.”

The Super Eagles of Nigeria would kick-off their clash with Algeria on Sunday at 2000 hrs (Nigerian time). Give your best wishes  to the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the comment section.

Romance / Corps Member Rejected By School Owner For Refusing To Sleep With Him by Sparky12(m): 10:24am On Jul 11, 2019
From: collinsuchendusblog.com

A distraught corps member deployed to a school in Port Harcourt for her service year, narrated how she was rejected because she refused to sleep with a man she met at the school who is supposedly the proprietor.

The alleged school's proprietor had promised her an accomodation and leisure in her service year, but refused to sign her acceptance letter after she rejected sleeping with him.

Instagram user @di.zire who shared the story, also revealed that the man threatened to tell NYSC authorities that the corps member rejected the Primary Place of Assignment (PPA) herself. She wrote;

I was minding my business today as usual, then i hear my friend going on and off with this babe on the phone. He was trying to calm her down. After over thirty minutes on the phone, he explains that she went to her PPA which is a school in portharcort today and the man she met there said for him to accept her letter she would have to sleep with him and they would be doing so as she serves in the school, promising her accommodation and that she wouldn't have to come to work everyday.

I called her back, asked if she was okay, still in tears she said no, and explained the same thing my friend had explained. He threatened her saying that he would say she rejected the PPA herself.... My dear thought that would be an issue and was pleading but still refusing the offer and he refused to accept the letter, sticking to his condition. I told her to just go straight the secretariat and make a complaint and that she should be happy about the rejection letter. It doesnt matter who makes the rejection.

At least she's out of that ridiculous school. She wants to be taken out of that local government because she says its a small town, the schools are close and they have links with eachother. But then yet again, who knows what perverted soul she would meet at the secretariat and disregard her complaints? What about the female students in that school, are their parents aware of this perverted fool they placed their children under. Who knows how many students are being sexually harassed. . .

The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has intercepted 21 containers of spoilt frozen fish at Tincan Island Port in Lagos.

The Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Moji Adeyeye, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Thursday.

Adeyeye who urged the public to be vigilant and not to consume fish that would be harmful said that the fish is among items banned for importation into the country by the Federal Government.

Similarly, the agency also seized four trucks of bottle water imported from China, adding that the water was concealed in hair attachment cartons.

According to her, other items seized are imported fruit juices labelled in Chinese language.

She added that the seizures were made recently at Seme border post in Lagos.

Adeyeye said NAFDAC would continue to work with other security agencies to ensure that no harmful food items, illicit or unregistered drugs or water among others found their way into the country.

Jobs/Vacancies / Lady In Tears After Reducing Her Age To Get A Job She Qualified For With Her Rea by Sparky12(m): 9:01pm On Jul 04, 2019
From: collinsuchendusblog.com

A Nigerian man identified as Christian C. Ozor on Twitter, has taken to the micro-blogging platform to narrate how a Nigerian lady who is his friend lost a job after reducing her age to get the job only to get disqualified as the company wanted a person with her real age.

Christian tweeted; A friend just called me now crying in regret. She reduced her age on her CV and went for a job interview. She was told by the panel that she met all criteria but was too young for the job. She’s 27 but reduced her age to 23. Age was the only thing that disqualified her.

That is that… However in another news, a Nigerian Twitter user identified as Ada Beke, @Goldenrubss, took to the micro-blogging platform to announce that she just got a degree with a certain institute, British Association of Dermatologists. The institution replied to her tweet, telling her they don’t know what she’s talking about because they don’t offer degrees. She tweeted; “Did a dermatology degree with the British Association of Dermatologists. Results came out this morning and your girl made a first class with honors. Guess who’s an officially certified dermatologist nowwww” However, a Twitter user with the username British Association of Dermatologists replied to her tweet, writing: “Hi Ada, we’re unsure what course you are referring to because we don’t offer degrees. Would you be able to DM us?” Following the reply from the institution, Twitter users quickly began to troll her. She later replied, explaining that there was a mix up. Some believed her but some didn’t. See screenshots below;

Police in Trang in southern Thailand have arrested a 71 year old man after he admitted raping an 89 year old neighbor. But when the Palian constabulary arrived, some measure of "justice" had already been meted out to Yap Chaiphak.

Naphawan, a grand daughter of the victim, admitted whacking Yap four or five times with a broom handle after he was behaving like he had done nothing.

"I admit I lost my temper," she said. "Society is not safe any more - for a neighbor to do this to my gran is just terrible".

Mia, 89, (surname withheld) was raped on Monday on a raised platform outside her house in the village of Ban Na.

Yap has admitted what he did and was taken to hospital. He had a broken arm and damaged ribs after the beating handed out by the grand daughter.

He intends to press charges for assault against her, reported Daily News.

Mia is constantly vomiting and won't eat. She is in another hospital recovering from her ordeal.

Crime / Photo Of The 2-year-old Girl Eaten By Crocodiles On Her Family's Farm by Sparky12(m): 11:45pm On Jul 02, 2019

Police in Cambodia has released the photo of the two-year-old girl eaten by crocodiles on her family’s farm in Siem Reap province’s Siem Reap city, Cambodia on Sunday, after she wandered off into the enclosure alone.

Captain Chem Chamnan, municipal deputy police chief, identified the victim as Rom Roath Neary. She was found dead at her family’s crocodile farm in Siem Reap city at 10am on Sunday morning.

“Her father only found her skull in the crocodile enclosure, where she was killed by crocodiles,” he said.

The mother is pictured holding the skull of the girl after it was picked up from the crocodile farm.

Lieutenant Och Sophen, chief of Siem Reap commune police, said that on the day of the incident, the girl was home with her mother.

Lt Sophen noted that the family had recently welcomed a newborn baby. As the mother was busy taking care of the baby, she lost sight of her elder daughter, he added. When the father came home at 10am, he found his daughter’s skull in the crocodile enclosure, he said.

“When he came back home, he couldn’t find his daughter in the house,” Lt Sophen said. “He found a skull in the crocodile enclosure. He confirmed that the daughter fell into the crocodile enclosure and that the crocodiles killed her, leaving only her skull.”

Lt Sophen noted that the family had built a fence around the farm, but children could still fit through them.

“His farm is located behind the house, and the small girl came to play around and fell in while her mother was busy taking care of another daughter, who had just been born,” Lt Sophen said.

“We convey our condolences to the family. The mother hugged her daughter’s skull in shock,” he added. “We appeal to all families who have crocodile farms to pay attention to all family members, especially small children.”

Politics / God Is A Nigerian - Ex President, Obasanjo by Sparky12(m): 11:46am On Jul 02, 2019
From: collinsuchendusblog.com

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says there is no doubt that God Almighty is a Nigerian with the way and manner he has preserved the Nation despite all that she has had to go through.

Obasanjo stated this when he spoke at the 9th Toyin Falola Annual International Conference held at Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State.

The former President who presented a paper titled “Towards a re-unification of the sacred and secular: religious interventions in politics,” said most Nigerians at the moment are not happy with the country and would do everything they can to leave because the Nation is not giving them what they so desire.

“I don’t know of any Nigerian who doesn’t wish Nigeria well, but, I know many Nigerians who are unhappy and want to leave Nigeria. Our issue is so because, what they expect from Nigeria they are not getting it. The role of religious leaders and religion is to lead but, lead them also to also to let politicians learnt a best lesson. God is a Nigerian because, what we have gone through in Nigeria and what we are going through, probably, Nigeria should not be on the map of the world. That’s why I say God is a Nigerian.” he said
