Davo93: @Speranza Voy, are you a prospective scholar through the BEA programme? You don't sound like an intellectual, am sorry to say this anyway but thats how i see it... You are too combartive in your propositions and not logical about them. There are ways you can express your views without damaging another person's image... Grow up dude! Goodluck all thesame. If someone at your objectivity altitude refers to me as an intellectual. Then it's time I revised my credentials as one.Don't permit sentiments shroud your senses simply because your friends are entailed. It is understandable. |

Wonder how the russian awardees would endure it even with diplomatic immunity with all of putin's draconian laws and with minimal or no anti-racism activists or campaigns. And yes other Nigerians have been there but the times are different. |

tuisek: we where made to understand dat the japenese sch is the best n given only the best students.firstly there is too much dichotomy abt dat sch bt its nt frm our nigerian homefront bt frm japan.they havent taken any ug applicant for five yrs nw.infact the bea board helpd us to fight bck cz we were all devastated wen no ug ws chosen n it was worse for da board cz thy gave japan their best shorts n it seemed japan was messing wit dem.bt all da same dat was last yr n we r hoping for dis yr.PS:can u imagine dat they asked us 100 questions dat ws written totally in japanese writing amongst oda questions.da test lasted fr ova 5 exhilarating hrs.those japanese rili tore us down on da 28th of july 2012 It's nothing that wouldn't be expected from a country that is hub, bedrock and home to modern technology.A country two years ahead of the world in tech. They couldn't care less |

BayoAA: On a final note on motivation and to help keep us all looking at the red light (focus on success), I am posting the few names (not full name as there was no permission from them) of guys that were offered this scholarship years back presently living and working in Nigeria, their place of work and course of study.
LDN - Voice of Nigeria - Spanish ATT - Nigeria communication commission - International Relations ABD - Schlumberger - Geology RBN - SAIPEM - Chemical Engineering NBN - Transocean - Oil and Gas Engineering FRS - Technip - Chemical Engineering SHD - ABU - Oil and gas Engineering/Mechanical Engineering CHB - Technical Sales Manager in ELTEK (a Norwegian company in Nigeria) - Power Engineering EDW - Exxonmobil - Chemical Engineering/Biotechnology MHM - Nigeria Atomic Agency - Computer Science/Engineering ALH - FUTMINNA - Chemical Engineering TMK - WAKEUSHA - Mechanical Engineering CLF - Niger Delta University - Petroleum Engineering HRN - NETCO - Chemical Engineering ABB - ExxonMobil - Geology OML - Bake Hughes - Mechanical Engineering PLM - Project Manager for a power firm - Electro-Mechanical Engineering BAYO - I work in an American Company in Nigeria - Mechanical Engineering
This list represents less than 10% of beneficiaries of BEA scholarship to Russia for the past 15 years but it also shows the prospect of good job upon completion. Let it be stated that there are a lot of guys that went to other countries after their program in Russia majorly to UK, US and Norway. The list also does not represent all the guys presently in Nigeria as I dont know everyb?E THIS WHOLE THING IS NOT JUST ABOUT AN INTERVIEW ON MONDAY OR TUESDAY OR.... BUT A WHOLE LIFE-CHANGING EVENT. GIVE IT ALL YOUR BEST AS I WISH EVERYONE GREAT SUCCESS IN THEIR RESPECTIVE INTERVIEW. your own kind of motivation amazes. With virtually all of the presented lesser than 10% previous awardees all engineers.Unarguably, you should be more familiar with people in your field. But then, is that your tactics of sidelining other fields and implying the aspiring engineers have greater prospect, cause that is deductible .and that majority of them would be awarded relatively. |

As paradoxical as it can be,a stampede towards Russia making it a hot zone,a country that could only boast of two universities in world 500.on the other hand lies Japan and China with respective rank of third and fourth in having so many representatives in world 500. |

Let me state this clearly, Everyone need to go to the interview center (zone) allocated to his/her STATE OF ORIGIN irrespective of their present state of Abode. This was categorically stated by the woman I spoke with at the FSB office. If you go to any centre that does not fall under you state of origin....You are O.Y.O. Remmber I mentioned a lady I met at the FSB office who was on her way to Owerri from Kano. Do you think she was going there for OMUOGO or party? No she was making that hell of a journey cos of the interview. good luck!!! BayoAA: Hi guys, I just came from ABJ and I was able to get to the FSB office, very close to the NNPC Towers. Unfortunately I got there some few minutes after 3pm as I have personal things to attend to too, hence the key officer(s) were not available for a chat. In general they are very welcoming and ready to answer questions (or maybe it is my blazers that is decieving them even though I was burning heavily under that ABJ sun...lol!!!). Below are my takehome
1. The phone numbers for oversea scholarship are working(The GLO and etisalat lines). I saw the dual sim Nokia torchlight phone on the table even though it was being charged (probably after so much calls)all the 20 minutes I was in the office and the person in charge of the phoen was not available until I was stepping out of the office. So you can keep trying to call them.
2. The application has now closed. But I believe that due to issues with the site/networking (whatever), it is still allowing some registration in error which will definitely be counted as bonafide applicants/applications
3. The interview starts on Monday, 18th March and not 11th March. A lady (a lawyer by profession) and a prospective scholar to Mexico, coming from Kano en-route Owerri, who branched in the office to confirm document required for interview as her police report is not yet ready would have fall victim thinking her interview is on Wednesday 13th going by the old schedule.
4. All document listed in the advert are required for interview BUT I was told that "don't let unavailability of 1 or 2 document debar you from attending the interview" In my own view it means If you are qualified and you have applied, try and go for the interview even if your document are not complete. The woman specifically said "anything that you can squeeze out of the website, squeeze it out and bring everything with your credentials to the interview venue.
5. Test will be set by JAMB. It is going to be general subject for all including Postgraduate Applicants. Meaning English, Mathematics (Arithmetics) and general studies (Nigerian history)
6. I was not given any answer per authentication of document but I learnt that the normal process is to stamp your credentials at the Federl ministry of Education and External affair after which a "Certified true copy" stamp will be placed on it. I still strongly believe that the Certified true copy in any court of law alone is acceptable. Hence I will suggest calling their number for further info on this.
7. After submitting your application go and check your mail (including junk mails) for the completed form. This is what needs to be printed. But if you cannot find any mail ffrom FSB, then find a way to print directly your completed form from FSB website.
8. For the interview, arm yourself with writing materials, enough passport photo, stapler/pins, some photocopies of your credentials.
These are whtat I can remember for now. I will add more later as my brain is screaming for rest. Good luck!!! Could you post the phone numbers which the fsb said was their contact |

Godysien: Thanks Mr. Bayo for d info. To add to what u said earlier having been able to call d fsb contact, post graduate applicants shouldn't bother to authenticate their O'level certificates, rather they should bring d original copy(ies) of their transcripts to d interview. Authentication of Certificates is only for d Undergraduate applicants. Pls note that d test format is written. All applicants should endeavour to bring along to the centre d required docs as stated possibly, but if some docs are not yet ready u clearly state them to d officials. But to be on a safer side work to provide all d items needed by fsb. What was the phone number with which you contacted the fsb.thanks |
