The official mobile application of the Social media giant, Facebook has been known to be slowing smartphones by 15 percentage and as well have been consuming excess battery power.


Express.co.uk earlier reported that a large population of users complained that the app has caused a lot of battery drainage and has made their phone perform slower.


This issue was the talk of the day by many Facebook fans on Reddit.


To confirm were the fault is coming from, the old scientific principle was put into place, an app test.


A test involving 15 different popular apps was carried out on a smartphone, each of the various app loaded fast when Facebook was uninstalled from the phone.


A Reddit user said;
The Facebook messenger appears to be worse than Facebook it self, its been causing my phone to slow down"


Another user said that, "I think it had just become so bloated with features, things they kept adding to the main site that people wanted in the mobile apps also," adding, "Combine this with Android's tendency to let apps run wild in the background."

Google Hangouts comes with a very useful function, a very quick way of replying incoming messages straight from the notifications. This feature is available on version 7.0 of the app

The Gionee marathon M5 mini comes with a 5.0 HD Display, a processor of 1.3 GHz

If you use a padlock on a regular basis — at the gym or locking up your bike — then you'll know the annoyance of misplacing your key or forgetting your combination. (It's stupid but it happens.)


Canadian tech firm Pishon Lab wants to solve this by kitting out padlocks with a security measure that's become almost essential on smartphones: the fingerprint sensor. The company has launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for its fingerprint-secured TappLock padlock, which Pishon claims is "the ultimate in security and convenience."


The TappLock comes in two variations: a beefy version with a three-year battery life that doubles up as a portable phone charger, and a smaller version, the TappLock Lite, which only has a six-month battery life and can't charge your phone. You set the padlock up with the help of a smartphone app (available on iOS, Android, and Windows), with Pishon claiming that the TappLock unlocks in just 0.8 seconds. The app also allows you to unlock your padlock using your phone and share entry with other users — either on request or during pre-defined windows of time.

The 6-inch Mate 8 is Huawei’s attempt at striking “perfect balance between high performance and long battery life.”


It’s lightweight, dual SIM compatible and runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0, and according to Huawei’s press statement, it is the first smartphone “to run the Kirin 950 chipset and is equipped with a 4000mAh high-density battery.”


Speaking about the phone, George Al Kafrouni, Regional Manager, Device Product & Training Middle East Region, explained that, “With the ‘Super Hands-Free 3.0’ technology users can enable their hands-free operation in a variety of environments. Whether in a car, a conference room or at a crowded party, users can enjoy clear conversations from up to 3 meters away.”


The phone, according to him, was designed to be “the perfect device for the global business traveler.

VLC, One of the world's popular media player is now finally
available for Chrome OS-powered notebooks. With VideoLAN as the open source project behind it, noted that the free application is a ported version of its Android counterpart. The app can be downloaded from the Chrome Web Store.


Much like its client available on other platforms, VLC for Chrome OS supports a large number of both video and audio files including mkv, DVD iso, flac, and many other formats. Also supported by this player is subtitles with auto-detection, and offers playback of streams, either local and on the Internet.


One of the developers of VLC player, JB Kempf revealed that creating VLC wasn't an easy task.


The VLC player was wholly built on C and C++, and writing in JavaScript and other Web technologies is needed for Chrome OS platform. Google enabled an offline media playback forChromebook notebooks.

Have you noticed that your fingers are turning 'Pinky' lately as you are busy chatting and texting on smartphone?

If yes then you are not alone. "Smartphone Pinky" - a perceived bend in the little finger on one's dominant hand - may occur is people who use the device for at least six hours a day, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

"Although the chances of a person permanently bending their finger through smartphone use are 'pretty slim', it would take a minimum of around six hours a day of an applied force on soft tissue to evoke change," Dave Parsons, clinical fellow at Curtin University in Australia, was quoted as saying.

The bend is purported to have been caused by the weight of holding a smartphone with one's smallest finger at its base (while the other fingers support the phone along its longer side).

Microsoft debuted its Windows 10 Mobile OS with the launch of two Lumia devices in India late last month.

The company is going with a top- down approach by first introducing the best it has to offer with the Lumia 950 XL Dual SIM and Lumia 950 Dual SIM and follow that up with more affordable variants across different price segments.

More than the devices though, Microsoft's real aim is to showcase its newest Windows 10 Mobile OS, which it hopes will resonate with consumers who are (hopefully) already using Windows 10 on their desktops and ultimately, coax developers into making more universal apps for the platform.

Google India and Indian Railways' arm RailTel on Friday announced the availability of free high-speed public Wi-Fi service at the Mumbai Central station. To recall, the public Wi-Fi project for Indian Railways was announced back in September when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Google headquarters in Mountain View.

The search giant in an emailed statement on Friday said that it will expand the free public Wi-Fi network to 100 of the busiest railway stations in India by the end of this year, and eventually expand to 400 railway stations. Next in line are stations in Allahabad, Patna, Jaipur, and Ranchi.

"Even with just the first 100 stations online, this project will make Wi-Fi available to millions of Indians - who pass through railway stations every day, making it the largest public Wi-Fi project in India and among the largest in the world by number of potential users," the statement added.

Facebook on Wednesday announced a new feature to help the more than 1 billion people who use its service every day follow sports games live. You can track the game with friends, and the feature encourages you to discuss stats, plays and everything else from anywhere around the globe. It's called Sports Stadium, and it arrives just in time for Super Bowl 50, set for February 7.
But longtime tech watchers said Facebook's newest feature should have a different name: Sports Twitter.
The perennial second-banana to Facebook, Twitter is a darling of the tech and media worlds, but one that's struggled to meaningfully expand its social-networking site . It's about a fifth the size of Facebook in terms of people who use it regularly. Now one of Twitter's most promising features, people talking about sports in real time, may be undercut by Facebook's Sports stadium.

Let's face it: If we had to declare a winner in the war for social-networking supremacy, it'd be Facebook. More than half the world's online population is using the service. It's already the world's top place to post photos, and plenty of people are sharing political opinions there ahead of the US presidential election. More and more people are also checking in during disasters and terrorist attacks to let friends know they're safe.
