There's nothing wrong in having a constructive criticism.
It's something that should be embraced

I really don't think you know the meaning of these words/phrases you use, like "derogatory" and "constructive criticism".
You obviously have a limited network which shapes your opinion on Nigerian developers. That's fine with me, I can understand that wink

Has anyone made a withdrawal with their Naira MasterCard recently in the UK? Has the ban been lifted?
Also, if possible what's the limit on GTB Naira MasterCard

Outside Nigeria it's meaningless, but inside Nigeria you NEED it. Unless you want to work with foreign firms let me explain.
1. If you did your secondary education in Turkish secondary school, most Turkish firms in Nigeria would employ you without a second thought and not even ask of NYSC.
2. A friend of mine was in a similar dilemma, immediately after graduation,he made a first class, Cambridge came calling for MSC, he left without NYSC, after MSC top of his class he landed a job with UN was running his PhD in Europe. 2015 Buhari/Osibanjo won the elections. One of them happened to be close to his supervisors in his undergraduate program, he was recommended for appointment.During documentation NYSC crept up to hunt him, of cause he was quickly mobilized and deployed to serve in the office he was appointed to.
Crux of my story. If you have the time come and serve, there are ways you can fix it up. But don't let what you can do now, deprive you of something in the future.

What a joke grin
Come and serve who exactly? What is that motivation for you to serve? What's the benefit?
The same certificate you can actually buy exemption letters for

Hello guys, I think am almost set to make my VISA application but I have two questions.

1. I discovered that there is a slight error in my UK address shown on my TB certificate. Do you think it matters?

2. I have not got an experienced photographer to help with the passport photo, can I do it at the Ikeja UKVI office on my appointment day?

Thanks

1. shouldn't matter but you can just make a note of it in the application form.

2. There's no need for passports anymore. They will take a picture of you at the submission center

@justwise and everyone

Uhm I've gotten my CAS letter and I'm about applying for Tier 4 GENERAL student VISA. I wana ask if I can make use of a stamped copy of my WASSCE result when going to the embassy since the original certificate is not out. Prolly stamped or attested by a High court or even the Ministry of Education.

N/B: I wrote the examination this year (May/June 2016) and the ORIGINAL certificate isn't out.

Thanks for your anticipated cooperation. Happy New Month in advance ! smiley

Tell your university and have them write it on the CAS

You can also get an international driving license from Nigeria before coming to the UK. It is valid for a year so you can start driving immediately you get here before taking your tests.

Yes you can but you need to put aleast £4000 aside for insurance, road tax and MOT a year.

Thanks Bella9550.
Ideally, I would have preferred somewhere close to school - say zone 1.
But the prices there are really crazy.
Please what are the approx prices for Flatshare around Edgware?
I think we should keep in touch.
I have sent you an email.
Thanks

UCL is in the middle of Central London, which means you can live anywhere around it. I don't know your budget but look for a place between zone 1 and 3 with (possibly) direct link to central London. Stratford is usually a go to area for most people but remember, the closer the better.
Use http://www.spareroom.co.uk to filter by zones and also search on gumtree.

So they don't have to pay inheritance tax.
Create a charity/foundation and pump the money there, make your kids overseers and keep the money running in the family forever.
That's tax avoidance 201.

You can get your tax back before April next year, firstly ask your employer to give you tax exemption form to complete and secondly contact hmrc they will refund you all the tax you have paid so far. If you don't contact them they will still refund you after April next year.

Will they refund him immediately for the current tax year? I highly doubt that as they're even still processing for last year's

Tax is deducted based on how much you earn not how many hours you worked. This only implies for home students or citizens and not international students. You are giving 20hrs work visa (written bold on your visa) and you think you won't be taxed after 20hrs as an international student? You think they tax you as a citizen? It's another way to monitor international students so as to make sure you are studying and not devoting all your time working. I am speaking from experience. Please understand that he is an international student and not home.

What has status got to do with taxation? Are you really serious that citizens don't pay tax?
Current personal allowance is £11,000 which by 52 weeks is £211.54. Anything you earn above that is getting taxed no matter what your status is. After the end of the tax year;
Your total income is calculated
Minus your personal allowance
Tax is calculated based on the rest and they refund you if you paid too much

Please use official HMRC tax calculator so you don't confuse yourself

If you was taxed below 20hrs as a student, and still, go to your employer and make a complaint telling em that you are a student and should not be taxed below 20hrs. They will correct this by contacting HMRC and a new tax numb will be issued to you and the deducted taxed will be refunded. That was how I got mine as I didn't fill any tax form.

You're getting this wrong. Tax is deducted based on how much you earn not how many hours you worked. They remove your personal allowance first, then tax you on the remaining amount.
Most students working just 20 hours at minimum wage would not cross the personal allowance mark which is why you think it is because of the hours.

marauka:

I complained to my employers and they said I should sort the tax refund out with hmrc but that they will not tax me again. How do I get my refund?

Your employer will tax you if there calculations prove so. Confirm with hmrc that your tax code is correct, then wait for the tax year to end before you claim a tax refund. You can only get a tax refund at the end of a tax year.
To see your tax and NI data and possibly claim a refund without waiting for their usual P800 letter, you can register on HMRC platform as an individual.

I cannot confirm the budget. We need to access what exactly you want to 'clone' from twitter before we start talking about expenses. Twitter is made up of more than the social networking, mobile apps and on-site advertisement.

Spikes, thanks for you reply I know it is vague. If you can clone the twitter IOS and Android apps, then you are good for the job. I am a novice but I know what I want. I have found developers outside nigeria who can clone twitter, but I don't trust indians, and the russian and American alternatives are too expensive.

First things first, let's establish if there are Nigerian developers that are good for the job.

Thanks again spikes

There's a lot of Nigerian developers who are more that good for the job. In Nigeria, here in the UK and even in the US. Put a team together of mobile developers, server and Web developers and you have your service running in a few months with ongoing support if the pay is great
Programming / Re: closed by spikesC(m): 4:23pm On Oct 24, 2016
Ofcourse it's possible.
Your request is a bit vague though as twitter has so many functionalities, so more details would be appreciated

The confusion that comes with reckless abandon with which these guys roll out different platforms on daily basis is enough to make one not to care.
However, after having to learn Angular "by force" due to an ionic mobile app I had to do, na im I come realize that truly JQuery is very weak.
You might not agree until you expend like 1 or two hours and look into any of these modern JS framework like Angular or Angular2 (at least the one I don try).
Infact I started wondering why I have been using PHP in every part of my application rather than just for REST Api.

Are you sure you know what your tools are for?

if i ever were to code in js. I'll probably, just use the raw language and ignore all the libraries. Programming is complex enough without it being overcomplicated. Reading that article i was like, what?!! - "Angular is dated , it's so 2015, jQuery is out!! " - man! this industry is drowning in needless complexity ...

If you're developing for the web, Jquery is relatively a must. It does the most important thing, remove browser incompatibilities.
Programming / Re: How It Feels Like To Learn Javascript In 2016 by spikesC(m): 12:00pm On Oct 21, 2016
Front end development was so easy, the developers just had to create work for themselves. The JavaScript community is just a bunch of jokers who apparently has nothing else important to do.
"We need an all in one JS library that does everything just right". After 3 months it becomes yet another JS library and another joker would be like, "We need an all in one JS library that does everything just right".

I pity them so much. Facebook developers just keep churning out libraries to them while 98% of those libraries are not used at Facebook

Hi everyone. Please who knows anything about FutureFinance UK. I'm thinking of using them for my masters studies since the scholarships are not coming. I have an admission to study Pet & Env Tech at Coventry University.
Please I'll appreciate your advice and ideas on it...
Thanks

I have a friend who was supposed to use them. He got a loan of £10k from them but couldn't use it because of how the process works.
Future Finance will need a confirmation of enrollment from your university before they will make the payment to your university.
The university will need you to show the full amount, as expected, with a bank statement before they will issue you a CAS.

Now, even if you got the CAS through another source of fund and applied for VISA. You have not enrolled.
Enrollment is when you register fully on the course. This university in question requires £3k for CAS and then a further £3.5k to enroll/register and start your studies. Therefore, he needs to make a full payment, from his pocket, of £6.5k before future finance will release the loan.
If future finance makes a payment of £10k to the university afterwards, the university will refund future finance the already paid sum and not to the student. Therefore, he could only borrow £3.5k from future finance, which wouldn't be of any benefit to him.

This might seem off point to your actual question, but you have to consider it before going through months of processing with both parties and end up getting disappointed. You need to talk to your university to see if there's a way they can work around the future finance requirement.

Finally, you'll need an OK credit rating and a guarantor (with a UK/EU passport)

"...The aim is to increase the supply of dollar and stabilize the exchange rate.."
Are you serious? Is this a joke or what? You're increasing the supply of foreign currencies by actually limiting remittance channels and regulating exchange rates (again). You've stopped free flow of remittance which was actually helping the economy, forced a static exchange rate (after floating the Naira a couple months ago) and you're here talking about increasing the supply of foreign currency.

Where exactly did these people go to school self?

I think it would be better if the people under the "PROFESSIONAL CATEGORY" should be given a project, where they all do and show on Github.
This way, the voting would be based on the same project type.
Because some guys might have all just been working on projects for clients and these projects might not be exceptional enough while some others might have even worked on 3D games, so that would definitely get more votes

This actually makes a lot of sense but some people might not have the time to work on a new project.
Also, if you're voting for the most interesting project, it would be very bias as some projects might be complex but just not interesting to this audience. Consider difference in sectors too (web, desktop, embedded, server etc.) and of course the most important thing, working on proprietary apps/devices.

I think you need to put in more thought into the professionals category.

5weeks man
They did a mistake on my application then I request a review they gave me visa but too late.
The school said it will unfair for me to come with such a delay so they propose to refund or report the inscription.
What should I do about the visa?like contacting UKVI to let them know I am no more travelling?

Thx

That's very bad.
That's like 4 teaching weeks lost. I doubt any university would allow you in.
They probably already contacted UKVI as it is required. You'll either get a refund or defer your admission to the next intake.
Also, you might have to apply for another visa. You'll decide on applying in the next intake or use this same visa and just extend when the time comes
