The university would assist by sending job ads to you. They also organise job fairs with companies. But the surest way is to find one yourself

Maybe spikec's case is different but work placement is mostly unpaid work and you will be very lucky to get a company in area of study.
Some schools do have companies to send you to or you look for placement company yourself then the school will give you letter to support it.
In terms of job search in the UK you can start that from April with your first and second semester result transcript

Yes, mine is very different so I wouldn't know much on standard placement pay. When I did my research, I found that top companies pay around 18k to 25k

If you get a position in a very good company, it is totally worth it. You even have a better chance of getting employed permanently with them.

I would advise to look for a placement when the time comes, if you find a very good one, then switch to sandwich mode immediately.

Justwise talked about most being meager salaries and unpaid. I wouldn't know about that as I actually got a very good contract job with a very good company, and just used it as my placement. My manager was happy to sign it so win win for me

The experience is also worth it for your CV especially if you plan to stay behind

Yes, the work placement is part of his course but you have to add it from the onset. If you decide to add it after you have started the course, the home office will treat you as if you're starting a new course , therefore the rules will now apply to you.

Please he should contact his university's international department and ask the relevant questions. Most especially, where he would have to extend from and ask them to confirm my information

Yeah, i know. Unfortunately, they've deemed changing to a sandwich degree as a change of course.
The most basic decision they made is, if you're not progressing to a higher level, you must apply from outside.

To enforce this new rule, my university insisted I must have exited the country and sent a proof that I did (POE stamps) before I would be issued a CAS.

Apart from complications that might arise with the red oil, yes you're allowed to.
Most people freeze the red oil or bottle it and wrap tight, then hope for the best.

Well ... As soon as you got your CAS, you should have spotted the error and raised with your University. I thought it was on ur CAS and would have referred you to email the entry clearance amendments team. Again you said it's optional so probably that's why.

If you however decide to go for a year work placement, the University will issue you a new CAS and you will be able to extend your tier 4.

Your tuition fees for the placement year might be free or just a stipend (get the actual fee from your school website)

You'll need to come back home and renew your visa, that is a new rule from ukba starting from April 2016.
Basically, you can only renew in the UK if you're progressing to a new level or taking a resit exam

They should send you a receipt via email and on their website, under vas, they would indicate services you have paid for.

For those who took IELTS test, on the test report form, there's nothing like award reference number and there's a box where you have to fill your award reference number when filling your visa form online. Am I supposed to put the number that says "UKVI number" on the IELTS form of the number that says "test report form number"

2nd question is "have any of your course fees been paid"? Options are paid to UK education provider or paid to overseas higher education institution. I picked paid to uk education provider am I correct please. These questions are a tad bit confusing.

3rd question is the part that says have you been assessed by the sponsor by other means, for example references or a portfolio of artwork. That part too is confusing. I dont know if in supposed to say yes or no.

I am sincerely happy for everyone who has gotten hid/her visa and I pray that all the awaitings* will come here to share their good news soon!

However, I am a bit depressed that I won't be able to travel this September as I wasn't able to save the required 28days maintenance deposit due to this crazy forex palaver. This means the TB test is a waste and my half-tuition fee scholarship will be forfeited. I am not happy!

Was the maintenance complete the day you deposited it into the account?
You can't just forfeit the scholarship, you can actually defer.
