onatisi: i have a bb but it all boils down to maintennce cost,staying on the internet with a mobile phone in nigeria is very expensive without a bb we must be honest,but in terms of quality ,fun,apps i strongy have no doubt that bb is not on the list,there are far far far better phones,but like i read bb10 which will be unveiled soon is likely to address these issues and mke bb more appealing to ppl.and we musnt forget bb still have 75million users worldwide

75million users *coughs*, in every 100 people in Nigeria, 98 has a nokia phone, not to talk of other parts of the world. Nigeria keeps BB alife, its a fact.

Now, am looking to buy a new phone, latest affordable BB is Torch 2 aka BB 9810. After comparing it with Nokia E7, am damned confused. i can't buy a phone i can't spoil.
BB is not spoil-able, but Nokia, damn... asphalt 7, Need for speed bluetooth multiplayer, Real football series (bluetooth), N-gage (jisos )

onatisi: i must confess that after ppl made mention of nokia e6 i was forced to google better alternatives to bb,and you wont believe it nokia e6 series was the number one ,man that phone is something else ,how much does it goes for in the market now?

am not sure but you can check gsmarena.com to get insight. Those that still talk about BB are those that aren't following mobiles. If you check that website, BB is not even listed n the daily interests for a very long time. Even Nokia asha 305 ia ranking 7th. can you imagine

No dude, BB is old fashioned and no longer in vogue. get a samsung galaxy series, latest nokia's (lumia and others). Latest tabs and so on

CyberG: Yes, they are but what kind of programming? If you are taking a programming course, a netbook will surely be enough, being that you need it just for the course and consider also if you will like to continue software development and move to advanced areas and budget.

A lot of people asking you to buy some high end gaming laptop may not have had an experience of what resources is really needed to do what, just get the biggest sledge hammer to kill the smallest ant (a programming course). This is obviously bad advice especially if you are on a tight budget. For a course, you will never have to worry about the kind of issues real life applications need to do, so you should get a tool that gets your job done. Just FYI, I have actual development experience on commercial software on Windows, Linux and Mac and actively dev on Mac and Linux projects every week. My work Mac and AMD laptop are high end machines and you will not need either for a university course, especially if you are on a budget.

For the last poster ^, I have used an HP Mini with 1 GB and and Intel Atom processor running Linux and it was decent, will surely work for dev work on a budget or not so large. Now, if you work on a project where you will have to kick off build on Mozilla Firefox, you will need much more than a netbook. Or, if you will like to kick off multiple compilations on several cores to make the build process faster, then you will also need a higher specs but definitely not for a university programming course.

So after the programming course, he should then go and buy a new power laptop
You should always think of the future dude


For those calling on HP, on my personal experience and opinion, i would really say you get a DELL. Dell is made for power

yes ofcourse, with 120k you should seek for a 4GB ram laptop

yes ofcourse, it more than matters. imagine opening fireworks, dreamweaver, google chrome, opera, firefox, opera mobile emulator, notepad++, 3 explorer folders, 2 reference ebooks, ..etc etc and other services like modem dashboard, anti virus and others running



My advice, get a gaming laptop, something like dell alienware if you can afford it . but as beaf said, get the best your money can afford.
