Politics › Bayelsa: Festus Keyamo Commends Supreme Court, Advises APC by Splashme(op): 2:31pm On Feb 15, 2020
Festus Keyamo, the Minister of State for Labour and Productivity has commended the Supreme Court over its Judgement on general elections.

The Supreme Court had on Thursday in a unanimous judgement led by Justice Mary Odili sacked David Lyon as governor elect of Bayelsa state over Degi-Eremieoyo forged certificate presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The apex court upheld the November 12, 2019, judgement of a Federal High Court in Abuja, disqualifying Degi-Eremieoyo from participating in the governorship poll.

In agreement, INEC Chairman, Yakubu Mahmoud on Friday then declared PDP candidate, Douye Diri winner and issued him certificate of return.

Reacting to the development, Keyamo commended the Supreme Court on its judgements.

He called on the All Progressives Congress, APC, to sit back and solve its internal issues.

On his Twitter page, Keyamo wrote:

The Supreme Court has been firm and resolute so far regarding pre-election cases and Election Petitions. I commend their lordships.

As a party, we have to look at our own internal party mechanisms that make us give our victories needlessly away to the opposition and take appropriate actions.

Alameysiya of PDP came and looted billions of dollars from Bayelsa.

Silva of APC looted his own billions.

Dickson of PDP came and looted billions from Bayelsa.

As we speak Bayelsa is under developed

Even good drinking water is a problem in Bayelsa.

And you're are here saying God delivered Bayelsa from APC by giving it to PDP?

God?

Tufiakwa!
Bayelsa is not as bad as you're told.
Citizens of that state are probably doing much better than those of your state.

By the way, which state are you from?

Oga, your so-called people's mandate is a certificate forger.
Niger Delta cannot condone thieves in government house.

Any man with the mind to forge a certificate will definitely plunder the state's resources

The four Niger Delta oil giants (Akwa Ibom, Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers) must continue to resist the APC vampires.
Yes, the present APC under president Buhari are vampires !

Today, they are scheming for inroads into the big earning oil states ... but brethrens, God just saved Bayelsa !
The APC under Buhari does not love the Niger Delta, they simply want to add Akwa Ibom, Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers to their growing
cash cows.

On international TV, the party's leader and president already categorized the zone as 5%. He followed through by displaying the
worst form of nepotism and clannishness since independence. He disgraced the only top ranking public official from Niger Delta,
Justice Onnoghen out of office and replaced him with a Northern Muslim. In fact, as Bishop Kukah puts it, you must be a Northern Muslim to
qualify for a key post in Buhari's govt.

Five years in power and not a single major project sited in the region. The East - West road that GEJ was working on day and night is now nearly abandoned. Buhari's govt grounded the Maritime University GEJ established in Delta state and till today no major facilities have been added despite a weak take off two years ago. I understand the new Transport University was originally billed for Niger Delta but our nepotistic president took it to Katsina despite a saturation of federal tertiary institutions on the Kaduna-Zaria-Katsina axis. The Buhari's govt is accused of frustrating approvals for Ibaka Deep Sea Port which the Akwa Ibom State govt is ready to fund. The Lagos - Calabar coastal rail line inherited from the GEJ administration is now almost abandoned and forgotten with funds being diverted to finance a fresh railway into Niger Republic. The Ogoni clean up project is turning to another scam.

What really has Niger Delta benefited from APC govt?

Even if City go down, which is not certain yet, it shouldn't be the end of the world. Juventus suffered similar crisis and lost everything including their biggest stars apart from Del Piero and I think Nedved, but they're now a bigger and stronger club than they were before their ban, even built a brand new stadium. Man City may need to learn from Juventus how to bounce back.

David Lyon’s sack: Buhari told not to cancel trip to Bayelsa for swearing-in

Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central district at the National Assembly has advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to cancel his earlier scheduled trip to Bayelsa for the swearing-in ceremony

The President had concluded plans to storm Bayelsa on Friday for the swearing-in of governor-elect, David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

But the Supreme Court on Thursday nullified the election of Lyon and his Deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo.

The apex court led by Justice Mary Peter-Odili on Thursday directed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to withdraw the Certificate of Return issued to the All Progressives Congress’ candidates who were earlier declared winners of the November 16, 2019 governorship election in the state.

The five-man panel ordered INEC to immediately issue fresh certificates to the candidates of the party with the next highest votes.

Justice Ejembi Ekwo gave the ruling after disqualifying the APC’s deputy governorship candidate, Degi-Eremienyo, as a candidate in the election.

In his reaction, Sani tweeted, “The President should not postpone his trip to Bayelsa.

“He should go ahead and attend the swearing in of the new Governor-elect. A good time to prove he is for everybody…”
