Sports / Mario Balotelli Gets In Explosive On-pitch Bust-up With Own Boss Montella L by Sportcruz(m): 9:26pm On Aug 29, 2022
Mario Balotelli is well-known for his moments of controversy and the latest incident took place after Saturday’s Turkish Super Lig victory for Adana Demirspor vs Umraniye.

The Italian boss should have been a relatively happy man after watching his side grind out a 1-0 home victory over Umraniye. However, Montella became incensed when the former Manchester City and Liverpool forward appeared to make a comment after the game to Montella which provoked the coach.

Vincenzo Montella put his hands on his striker and tried to square up to him. Even though, Balotelli was dragged away, Montella wasn’t letting up as he chased after the striker.

He had to be restrained and calmed down by his players. It was a chaotic moment and you can watch it below…
=https://sportcruz.com/news/watch-mario-balotelli-gets-in-explosive-on-pitch-bust-up-with-own-boss-vincenzo-montella-after-adana-demirspors-win/

It is not the first time that Balotelli has had a run-in with his manager, with an infamous incident with his former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini during a training session seeing the two squaring up to each other before the striker was removed from the pitch.

Balotelli started the match on the bench. He was subbed on at half-time and helped his side secure all three points.
He has yet to make a start for his side this season and has come off the bench twice and has failed to score on both ocassions.
Sports / PGMOL deliver Verdict On Anthony Taylor Ban Petition by Tuchel and Chelsea fans by Sportcruz(m): 12:32pm On Aug 16, 2022
Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte were both shown red cards at full-time following their angry altercation at Stamford Bridge.

=https://sportcruz.com/news/talking-points-premier-league-introduce-independent-panel-to-review-key-refereeing-decisions-and-pgmol-verdict-on-anthony-taylor-ban-petition/

A petition calling to ban Anthony Taylor from officiating Chelsea matches has received thousands of signatures after Sunday's fiery clash with Tottenham ended in a 2-2 draw.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, who was sent off along with Tottenham counterpart Antonio Conte, feels both of Tottenham's goals in 2-2 controversial draw at Stamford Bridge should have been disallowed and believes referee Anthony Taylor should never officiate his side again.

Tuchel was incensed that Kai Havertz was not awarded a free-kick in the build-up to Tottenham's first equalising goal.

Cristian Romero then avoided punishment deep into injury-time for pulling Marc Cucurella's hair with VAR Mike Dean ruling out a red card. From the subsequent corner, Harry Kane headed in to snatch the draw.
Chelsea fans have long claimed an agenda from Taylor against the Blues following a string of decisions against them in previous games.

Asked whether Taylor should never referee Chelsea again, the German replied: "Maybe it would be better. I don't think that just some of the fans think that: I can assure you that the whole dressing room of us, every person thinks that.

Chelsea fans have long claimed an agenda from Taylor against the Blues following a string of decisions against them in previous games.

"Not only the fans. You know the players, they know what's going on when they are on the pitch. They know it."

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel’s plea to prevent Anthony Taylor from taking charge of his team’s future matches is set to be ignored by referee chiefs.

The German coach is being investigated by the Football Association for his remarks after Sunday’s controversial draw against Tottenham in which he appeared to question Taylor’s impartiality and called for the official not to referee future Chelsea matches.

Whether Tuchel is charged by the FA for his comments or not, the Professional Game Management Officials (PGMOL) are virtually certain not to stand Taylor down from Chelsea games.

In the short-term it is unlikely that Taylor will take charge of Blues games anyway because referees are in rotation and do not officiate the same club twice in a short space of time.
But there is no plan to take Taylor off Chelsea matches this season.

And in a bid to put an end to such controversial decisions from happening in the future, The Premier League introduces new independent panel to review key refereeing decisions with the findings to be passed on to all 20 clubs.

The new panel includes three former players, a Premier League representative and a PGMOL official.

Recently retired referees Jon Moss and Martin Atkinson - who have taken on roles at the PGMOL - would have the credentials to be part of the process.

These new measures are viewed as a positive step towards greater transparency for clubs with regards to referees decisions.
Sports / Darwin Nunez Sees Red Card Vs Crystal Palace After Headbutting Joachim Andersen by Sportcruz(m): 6:34am On Aug 16, 2022
Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez saw a red card in the second half of Monday's clash with Crystal Palace for a headbutt on Joachim Andersen after the two had tussled in the box just moments earlier.

After coming off the bench to score against Premier League defending champions Man City in Community Shield, and also against Fulham on the opening day, Nunez was rewarded with a staring shirt against Patrick Vieira side's on Monday.

Darwin Nunez Premier League debut at Anfield did not go as planned, as he was shown a straight red card for head-butting Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen.

A frustrating first half saw Liverpool concede before the break, after dominating for the entirety.

Liverpool needed to come out in the second half with a much more clinical edge, however, things went from bad to worse for The Reds in the 57th minute, as new signing Darwin Nunez had a moment of madness.

The Uruguayan reacted to Joachim Anderson pushing him in the back by headbutting the Crystal Palace defender.

The incident angered Jurgen Klopp and wasn't helped when the striker refused to come off quickly.

Sports / Buhari Approves Funds For Super Falcons After Protest Over Unpaid Bonus. by Sportcruz(m): 7:10pm On Jul 21, 2022
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved intervention funds for the Super Falcons following their protest on Wednesday over unpaid bonus.

On wednesday morning, the Super Falcons boycotted training again prompting the NFF to act swiftly in order to prevent another strike before the match against Zambia on Friday.

“The players have refused to leave their hotel in Casablanca over unpaid bonuses,” a top NFF official told BBC Sport Africa.

There is also an issue over the unpaid first five days of camp, which the players expected in their bank accounts but has not arrived.”

NFF president Amaju Pinnick told BBC Sport Africa on Wednesday that his organisation is “dealing with the issue” – but funds need to come from the country’s Sports Ministry before any payment can be made.

Responding to the player’s agitation, Special Assistant to the Minister of Youth and Sports Development on Multimedia, Toyin Ibitoye, confirmed to newsmen that President Buhari has given approval for the intervention fund requested by the Sports Ministry for the payment of Super Falcons’ allowances.

“The money issues are being sorted. Mr President has given approval for the intervention fund requested by the Ministry for the Super Falcons. The Ministry of Finance is working on processing and releasing the funds.

“I don’t know the exact figure but the budget covers the bonuses and allowances of the team for the 2022 WAFCON,” Ibitoye said.

“The processes for receiving funds from the government take time and the team now understands this. Both the ministry and NFF are working to ensure things move at a faster pace”

History of bonus rows.

This is not the first time the Super Falcons will be involved in a bonus row at a major tournament, the most recent before now coming at the 2019 Women’s World Cup held in France.

The Super Falcons after crashing out in the second round to Germany refused to leave their hotel in France in protest against the non-payment of bonuses by the Nigeria Football Federation.

The bone of contention included unpaid allowances for matches played three years before the World Cup in France as well as five-day camp bonuses for the World Cup itself.
The first came in South Africa in 2004 after the West Africans won the title, with another in 2016 in Abuja after claiming their eighth continental crown in Cameroon.

Beaten by hosts Morocco in a dramatic semi-final on Monday, the Super Falcons - champions last time out - are understood to be concerned they will not be paid after the tournament.

Sports / Tuchel Makes Mendy And Kepa Decision Ahead Of FA Final And Penalty Shootout by Sportcruz(m): 8:51am On May 14, 2022
Edouard Mendy is set to start in goal for Chelsea against Liverpool in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium, Thomas Tuchel has hinted.

Edouard Mendy played in the quarter-final and semi-final against Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace respectively and is set to start between the sticks against Liverpool on Saturday...

During his pre-match press conference, Tuchel was asked whether his side would be practising penalties and whether Kepa will be selected.

The question came following Tuchel's decision to replace Edouard Mendy with Kepa in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool back in January.

The decision which dramatically saw Chelsea lost the Cup final to Liverpool as the Spanish international failed to save any of Liverpool’s 11 penalties and missed his own spotkick l.
to hand Liverpool the trophy.

Tuchel is known at Chelsea for his order of substituting goalkeepers in penalty shootouts since his first Cup at the club.
Speaking before the Carabao final, he said: We talked about it with the goalkeepers before my first cup game against Barnsley.
We had some statistics that we prepared and they showed that Willy Caballero is the best in penalty defending and they analysed like a thousand penalties from Willy.

‘Second best was Kepa and third best was Edou.
‘If we have a change left that we take this change not for personal reasons but to help the team, to improve the chances as we have this proof off statistic.

But, after the decision dramatically backfired in the Carabao Cup, Thomas Tuchel was asked whether he would still do the same should the tie reach Penalty shootout.

Sports / Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Drops Hint On Managerial Retirement. by Sportcruz(m): 12:00pm On May 03, 2022
Ancelotti was lured back for a second spell at Real last summer following the departure of former assistant coach Zinedane Zidane on a three years contract.

He quickly clinched the La Liga title with Real Madrid this season, becoming the first manager to win a top-flight title in all of Europe’s big five leagues.

And Ancelotti’s season could end in more glorious way, if he could overturn a 4-3 first-leg deficit against City at the Bernabeu.

If they do reach the final and lift the trophy Ancelotti would become the only man to win the European Cup or Champions League four times as a manager, having also led AC Milan to the trophy in 2003 and 2007.

Dimitri Payet maintained his reputation as a player who only scores worldies by smashing in the most incredible half volley against PAOK this evening.

Nigeria clash with Ghana in winner-take-all affairs at MKO Abiola Stadium to determine who guarantees a spot at this year’s 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Nigeria host Ghana in one of the biggest matches in the country’s footballing history after a thrilling goalless draw in Kumasi and in front of a 60,000 capacity crowd on Tuesday.

It represents another biggest day in the Super Eagles' history as both Nigerians at home and diaspora are highly expectant as Nigeria yet on the threshold of making another history.

For Coach Augustine Eguavoen, the day represents a turning point in his coaching history as he can become only the third indigenous man, after the late Coach Shuaibu Amodu and Stephen Keshi (also late) to have qualified the team for the global showpiece, if he leads the Super Eagles to pick the World Cup ticket today.

Nigeria coach Augustine Eguavoen said he has been training his boys to score goals, utilize every chance that comes their way.

“I am not under any pressure. Yes, I am representing all Nigerian coaches and we want to be in Qatar. When we cross the line, everybody will jubilation.”

Also, Captain Ahmed Musa told thenff.com that “All the players, including myself, want to go to the World Cup. For me, it is very important because it could be my last World Cup. I enjoyed the last two finals that I participated in, Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018. I want to experience it again. Most of the players in the present squad have not been to the World Cup and they desire to be there.

“We all know it won’t be easy. Ghana will come here to do battle but we are ready for whatever they turn up with. I will not say more than that.”

Nigeria(6) are only behind Cameroon(7) for most represented African nation in the history of the FIFA World Cup, with the players highly determined to put up a performance that will earn Nigeria a seventh appearance at football’s biggest houseparty since her 1994 debut and also her fourth consecutive FIFA World Cup, having participated in 2010 (South Africa), 2014 (Brazil) and in 2018 (Russia)

Nigeria have been at every FIFA World Cup finals since 1994, bar the 2006 edition in Germany.

Sports / Nigeria Vs Ghana: Team News, Predicted Lineups, Stats, Prediction, Head-to-head, by Sportcruz(m): 10:50am On Mar 29, 2022
After a 0-0 draw in Kumasi on Friday, two of African football’s heavyweights head for the Moshood Abiola National Stadium with it all to play for.

The spoils were a shared in an uneventful goalless draw as Super Eagles saw their penalty decision overturned by VAR when they locked horns with Ghana in the first-leg of their World Cup qualifying playoff tie in Kumasi last Friday.

In a drab contest at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, both sides were guilty of a lethargic display and lack of cutting edge at the attacking end of the pitch as they settled for a draw, leaving all to play for on Tuesday.

Nigeria now return to home soil where they have struggled to get going, claiming just two wins from their last nine games since 2019, while losing three and claiming four draws in that time.

With away goals still in play for the qualifiers, it’s a slight advantage for Ghana. Should the Black Stars score, it will leave Nigeria needing to twice find the back of the net to keep their World Cup hopes alive.

PREVIEW

Austine Eguavoen's men, who are currently 32nd in the latest FIFA World Rankings, will look to end this dry spell and equal Cameron's record for the most represented African nation in the history of the World Cup with seven appearances.

Following Friday’s draw, Nigeria have now avoided defeat in all but one of their last 43 World Cup qualifying matches. That singular defeat, however, came last year when a Gernot Rohr-led Eagles fell to a shock 1-0 home loss to the Central African Republic.

That disappointing loss to the CAR highlights the Eagles’ poor run on home soil, where they have claimed just two wins from their last five games since 2020.

On the other hand, Friday's draw came fresh off the back of a disappointing run at the Africa Cup of Nations, where Ghana were dumped out in the group stages with just one point from three games.

The Black Stars have now failed to win any of their last five games across all competitions, losing three and claiming two draws since a 1-0 victory over South Africa back in November.

Nigeria vs Ghana is scheduled for a 6pm BST kick-off time tonight, Tuesday March 29, 2022.

Sports / UEFA Made New Champions League Rules To Favour The Premier League Top Six by Sportcruz(m): 10:21am On Mar 29, 2022
While Manchester City and Liverpool are fighting it out for the title, and Chelsea in a strong position in finish third; Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United battle for one Champions League slot.

The battle for Premier League top four finish for the past five years has always gone down the wire with ‘two’ out of the ‘top six’ missing out on Champions League football. This which Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United have been guilty of most of the times.

The Premier League teams have become accustomed to the current qualification model which rewards teams accordingly for their league finish but, under a potential new model, that could all change as The Athletic claim that UEFA secretary general Giorgio Marchetti has tabled this to Europe’s leading sides in a hotel in central Vienna today.

In short, the new ruling could provide Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United renewed security in their dreams of Champions League qualification.

Sports / "It Will Hunt Me For The Rest Of My Life": Chelsea Midfielder Jorginho Admits by Sportcruz(m): 9:55pm On Mar 25, 2022
Tearful Chelsea midfielder Jorginho admits he'll be "haunted for life" by penalty misses after Italy exit.

Italy failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup after a shock defeat to North Macedonia and Chelsea midfielder Jorginho feels responsible for missing from the spot earlier in the qualifying campaign.

The European champions were expected to brush aside North Macedonia in their play-off semi-final encounter, but were instead on the receiving end of a shock 1-0 defeat in Palmero.

Aleksandar Trajkovski – who ironically used to play for Palermo – scored the all-important goal in the 92nd-minute of play and it was a worldie from the winger, who plays for Saudi Arabian side Al-Fayha.

It’s because of the fact that Jorginho missed a penalty in both of Italy’s draws against Switzerland in the group stage.

Had the former Napoli man found the back of the net either home or away, Roberto Mancini’s side would have taken top spot.

Click here to watch the penalty https://sportcruz.com/football/it-will-hunt-me-for-the-rest-of-my-life-tearful-chelsea-midfielder-jorginho-admits-after-causing-italy-painful-exit/

That miss prevented Italy from qualifying for the World Cup automatically on the night and the team were then held to a 0-0 draw by Northern Ireland in their final match, which sealed their play-off fate.

After the defeat to North Macedonia, Jorginho admitted that his penalty miss from 12 yards against Switzerland will “haunt me for the rest of my life”.

It is difficult to explain what happened,” Jorginho told RAI Sport while visibly emotional, per Football Italia.

“It hurts so much. I’ll be honest, I am still incredulous. I don’t think we lacked creativity, as we always dominated matches and created so many chances. Unfortunately, we were unable to finish them off.

When asked about the aforementioned errors against the Swiss, Jorginho replied: “It hurts when I think about it, because I do still think about it and it will haunt me for the rest of my life. Stepping up there twice and not being able to help your team and your country is something that I will carry with me forever, and it weighs on me
People say we need to lift our heads and carry on, but it’s tough.”

Football can be a cruel, cruel game at times.

It is the second consecutive World Cup finals the Azzurri will miss, the first time in their history that has occurred.

Everton Manager Frank Lampard says he broke his hand celebrating Alex Iwobi’s last-gasp winner against Newcastle, as 10-men Everton snatched a crucial three points.
Allan’s 83rd-minute sending-off looked to have ended any hopes of a victory before Alex Iwobi broke the deadlock in nine minutes into the additional fourteen minutes, due to the VAR review of the red card and a protester who tied himself to a goalpost.

Iwobi’s stunning late victory for the Toffees prompted frenzied celebrations from their coach, who went a little overboard in the heat of the moment as he broke his hands in the process.
