Where did you get 95% import in Lagos port from? izzou: Where is the water to develop the port in the SE?
I believe that all these talk about building a seaport in the SE na just talk. The possibility is little. How do you want to dredge River Niger, to accommodate one RORO? Even Ibeto went to PH to build his own
And yes, Raum is right. Apart from Lagos having the larger market, it is also nearer to more than half of the manufacturing industries in Nigeria. Also, shipping lines trust Lagos as a safer place to berth, than other states.
Its the same reason why every airport is "International" in Nigeria, but Delta, United and many foreign airlines will either land in Lagos or Abuja. You cannot force them to land anywhere else Ok. You're wrong or uninformed. The River Niger is good enough for cargo ships if dredged. Also there are already existing ports but they are dilapidated and require government intervention. So you're completely wrong or ignorant about the prospect of ports in the SE. Secondly, most imported goods are not only raw materials for industries but also finished goods for consumers. When did Nigeria start importing raw materials? 😂 Finally, this argument isn't about ports but why Lagos is congested. |

Illimitable: Why can’t your Governors put hands together and develop their own port? You people speak as if foreigners are ruling the South East.
You people have collectively elected bandits, armed robbers and rogues as Governors since 1999. Lagos State government in collaboration with some private stake holders have constructed Lekki Deep Sea Port and it’s currently at 50% operational capacity.
What are your own Governors doing in the SE that they cannot replicate this sort of project? Good question. You're right about having bandits as governors. The likes of Dave Umahi, Hope Uzodimma, etc are political bandits. Also, the ports are a federal property concessioned to people who can run the ports. I am sure that if they hand over the ports to well meaning individuals, those ports will become very active. |

GloriousGbola: Because the bulk of the end users are based in lagos
Intels port has been in port Harcourt since the 2000s and nothing stops anyone from using it
Your kinsmen form the bulk of importers in Nigeria and NOTHING stops them from investing in a private port if it is really an issue.
The bulk of buyers for a large number of imported goods is Lagos. So why would I ship my goods to another port and then incur additional costs moving them to Lagos when I can just ship to Lagos immediately? Port concession means that the government can restrict the development of ports. There is a reason FG over the years have been unwilling to allow the upgrade the ports in the SE. They know that Lagos will lose it relevance. |

BlueRayDick: When Elon Musk was dragging the south African president and the black south Africans in general, most of us on this part of the world saw Elon as a white supremacist/racist ( I don't even know if I still see him in that light or not at the moment)..... But with this whole anti migrant stand of the south Africans, one can see those guys don't even like their fellow blackman. Hate lives in their heart!
It's unfortunate they started the whole movement by claiming they are against migrants who are criminal; only for them to come out in the end that they want every immigrant out of their country. The same south Africans so many African countries stood by them to fight for their independence.
I saw a picture of their president meeting with the leaders of the anti-migrant movement and the whole thing looked like the government of South Africa is patting them on the back. It's just unfortunate.......
I hope other countries (particularly African countries) can go all out to make south African government and their investments in different countries pay reparation for the loss of migrants in south Africa. African countries can simply break ties with SA and exclude them from African Union activities. |

raumdeuter: There are several ports all over the south from Delta to Rivers to Akwaibom Are you fancying ignorance? Why is 95% of all imports through Lagos? You don't know that other ports are just basically ghost zones due to poor infrastructure and government neglect which in fact is deliberate to reduce economic activities in the south and paint Lagos as 'working'? Or you think an Onitsha importer doesn't have the sense to know that Onne is nearer than Lagos? Or that dredging the River Niger to Onitsha head bridge will reduce his cost of importation by over 50%? You fake ignorance, hiding the truth because of hatred and apathy is a demonstration of wickedness. And you my friend and brother should not make me think so |

raumdeuter: I can attest to the degradation of the hinterland, Many of the industry and economy in the hinterland have collapsed due to leadership that lack vision and everyone is heading to Lagos Almost 70% of people who finish NYSC are heading to Lagos. If other state governors and leadership like mine in Oyo have been responsible, we wont all be heading to Lagos We thank Asiwaju Tinubu immensely for building, modernizing Lagos and covering the shame of our own governors. Maybe if every states had a visionary leaders like Tinubu, then Lagos wont be overwhelmed
its the smallest state with almost 20m people, and 3000 new people entering daily is why the resources are stretched Abuja is another destination of choice. But there's a way to simply decongest Lagos and that's to build seaports in the south. Take away the seaports, and Lagos immediately becomes unattractive |

What is more worrisome is how they put the barest minimum for the President; The same standard that RCCG cannot allow in their church or it's businesses.

The same person that has the sole power to hire and fire. His words are final. That's the same person Adeboye thinks should not be blamed?

Only God knows what some people will do if power enter their hands You're such a terrible hypocrite. You think you know how to manipulate people's minds? What concerns me with how anyone wants to live his life? What I am concerned about is how society accepts stupidity and idiocy and wants to normalise it. For example, certificate forgery, drug lords becoming president, incompetent leadership is defended by APC miscreants,... Is that how we want our society to evolve? Look at how we have forgotten those toddlers in forest. Did Obi sell his shares in Fidelity bank before fixing Anambra’s funds in the bank?
Stop defending unlawful act. You're shamelessly scrambling with facts, grabbing at straws, picking at cherries just to find fault with a man with impeccable character. So it's from having shares with NEXT who has shares with the company money was invested that's the evidence you're presenting. No wonder EEFC thinks you guys are really stupid for dragging them into an inconsequential matter. If that investment wasn't good, then why did subsequent governors not pull out the funds? Or didn't they have the power to do so? airmark: Most of you Obidients want OBI as the President not because you mean well for Nigeria. You just want him because he is “our brother”, that’s why you are defending his illegal act.
Shame on you. My concern is that you're a bloody liar and a hypocrite. You're falsely accusing a man of investing state money in private business when it's not true. What are the facts? 1. Did Obi invest? Ans. Yes. He invested $30m of Anambra state funds. 2. Did he have any personal interest? Ans. No. He didn't. He resigned every in company he had interest in before becoming governor. 3. Has EFCC or ICPC investigated the allegations? Ans. Yes. But they have so far found no reason at all to prosecute him. Not even an invitation. You APC minions are so pathetic, disgraceful and hypocritical to a high level of shamelessness. You support and stand on the mandate of a known convicted drug lord who is a monumental thief, stealing an entire state's IGR like Lagos state. You're comfortable with such a criminal, have a huge log of wood in your eyes but still looking for a speck of dust in another innocent person. You people will suffer o. And for many years. Shame. |
