But why I feel it's common with Igbos (especially those from Delta and Imo) is because they go to Lagos and forget home. That's the reason you'll see some children not knowing their roots from inception till death. He doesn't know the route to his village, which is another reason he'll be comfortable marrying a Yoruba girl.

An unmarried woman has a place in her father's estate. The family house belongs to that only son but he MUST accommodate his sisters as if their father was alive (traditionally he is now their father). He is also responsible for their education and wellbeing having also inherited his father's responsibility. When they marryz he will also be the one to represent their father and collect the bride price.

If they want to take away his obi, will they also collect and eat their bride price by themselves?

The man was wrong to have denied them a place and the Umu Nna intervened according to tradition.

I have read the SC judgement on the issue and I observed that none of the entire panel was Igbo. So their understanding of the tradition may not be accurate and I don't blame them.
