God1000: She's right, we've seen it twice, first it was Hillary Clinton and later Kamala Harris, two remarkable women.
If a country as powerful, advanced and civilized as america is afraid of having a female president, it says a lot Go and preach this gospel to Russia, they are equally a strong nation. Take the gospel also to Saudi Arabia and Iran. The gates of hell shall never orevail |

Racoon: Apologies! The original writer of the FB post lumped both images together but I too still erroneously sumed them up. As a proactive mod, you should have change the topic to reflect the diversity please. May be "Some Important Relics of Colonial Nigeria." No. You are the op and you should do that. |

Mynd44: Racoon, I don't understand why the second picture featured in this collection.
Title: Some Important Relics Of Colonial Lagos In Pictures
Second picture: 2nd Photo: Women on a street in Aba, Eastern Region (Nigeria), 1951( By Lorenzo Dow Turner - Black American).
Please enlighten me
Aba is NOT a relic of Lagos, Aba is a strong town with its own history, culture and pride. It is a town that has its own stories to tell and not smuggled under another city so far from it. Doing this just confused people and is an attempt to rewrite history Though you are very correct but a mere error which the op acknowledged and all of a sudden you come up with this "and attempt to rewrite history!"....this is too low especially from someone of your cadre on this forum. This post of yours is capable of igniting something else here. And Racoon, you are the op, please remove that error picture nah,it doesn't belong here... |

Fashion › Re: Records Back Omokri’s Claim Linking ‘Okpu Agu’ To Colonialists by Spybradd: 7:56pm On Jun 25, 2025 |
GerogeI: I think the first thing is to define culture. Its the way a people live and perform specific functions now. If you have been doing some thing for the past 300 years and continue doing so, that's culture. It does not mean that 300 years ago you did not learn to do such a thing from someone else.
Similarly, tradition is a way of doing things that spans from the past. Reno Omkri, should educate himself on the difference between origination and tradition. That Yorubas spin clothing, does not mean they did not learn weaving from Fulani Arabs, who even gave them the name "Yoru-ba" or "Yari-ba". Infact we all know the Fulanis would have added Yoruba land to their colonies if the Western civilization did not interfare, cause they already sold Islam to them. Next step was to give them an emir and condemn their own Kings, which they already did in Kwara.
Similarly Igbos learnt weaving from the western colonisers and make akawette cloth. And also adopt various clothing from the white man over, centuries ago, making them part of their culture.
Coming on media to compare colonial adaptations of Yorubas from Fulani colonizers and Igbos from Western colonizers seems kind of demented and aimless attentions seeking. My brother,it's just so horrible what we busy ourselves with in this country.. we've got a lotta very long way to go,so sad. The hatred and division is just too much..and to think a mod was playing this game along! |
Fashion › Re: Records Back Omokri’s Claim Linking ‘Okpu Agu’ To Colonialists by Spybradd: 7:51pm On Jun 25, 2025 |
Mynd44: This is not the point. Those who wear "suit, jeans and sneakers" already know that the attire is not "native" and they do not present it as such unlike the people who would wear "Ankara" and say they are wearing native attires.
No, they style might be native but the fabric is not and that is the point. There is no difference between an Ijaw man wearing so-called traditional wear hats and you wearing a suit but you wearing a suit don't say you are wearing your cultural attire Seun you cannot keep the guy as a mod. This is a non issue from a person of Reno who's always up to nothing good about the easterners and your supposed mod should keep away from this. This is how Nigerians keep getting deceived and distracted from main national issues that affects them and the children. |

2cato: most parents who have wards in public schools are not financially buoyant enough to pay for exam malpractice like the public schools so such is expected.
unlike their private school counterpart where a 12 years old will make 9As courtesy of exam runs and they will want to enter private university at 13 years then shouting beauty and brain This post shows exactly one of the reasons for the mass failure... That 16 people so far "liked" this comment is really worrisome. Kindly read comments if you got nothing reasonable or educated to drop |

Yorubas voted for Jonathan 2011. Their votes added up to the eastern and south south votes to made him win. The north didn't vote for him.
