The Independent National Electoral Commission has condemned the recent attack on Peoples Democratic Party PDP Supporters by some hoodlums in Kaduna during its Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar visit to the State on Monday.

Condemning this act, the Chairman Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu on Tuesday at the opening of train-the-trainers workshop, Training of Master Trainers on Technologies for the 2023 General Elections on technology in Abuja stressed that the Commission is working hard to ensure a credible process in the forthcoming elections, reports of clashes among parties and their supporters in some States of the country during the ongoing electioneering campaign is worrisome.

"So too is the reported denial of access to public facilities for parties and candidates in some States of the Federation. Let me caution parties and their supporters to focus on issues and steer clear of attacks on each other," he cautioned.

The INEC Chairman added that these are not only violations of the Electoral Act 2022 but also negate the voluntary commitment by all political parties and candidates to the letter and spirit of the Peace Accord signed about three weeks ago under the auspices of the National Peace Committee (NPC).

He advised political parties, candidates and their supporters should not by acts of commission or omission further complicate the prevailing security situation in the country.

He opined that a peaceful electioneering campaign is critical to the conduct of peaceful and credible elections. The Commission will continue to monitor the situation closely and will convene a meeting with leaders of political parties next week to discuss, among the other issues, the imperative of peaceful campaigns and equal access to public facilities.

Professor Mahmood Yakubu noted that the Commission will also meet with the security agencies under the auspices of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) next week.

Nigerian have expressed mixed opinions over the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed’s “courtesy visit” to popular Islamic cleric and bandits’ negotiator, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, at his official residence in Kaduna State.

Obi had on Monday afternoon written on his Twitter account that “Dr Datti Baba-Ahmed and I stopped by for a courtesy call on Sheikh Gumi at his official residence in Kaduna.”

The tweet was attached with photos of himself, his running mate with Gumi and other Northerners in the midst of a crowd in Gumi’s residence.

Similarly, the Peter Obi Support Network tweeted with the same photos saying, “HE @PeterObi pays a courtesy visit with his VP Dr Datti Baba-Ahmed to Sheikh Gumi while visiting Kaduna.

“A lot of work is being done to reach out to as many people as possible in this drive to build a new Nigeria that will be beneficial to all of us.”

Reacting to the visit, some Twitter users described it as a smart move to unify Nigerians from different religious groups and ethnicity while some condemned it, describing Obi as a political beggar.

A Twitter user, @Qdpaper2 said, “Peter Obi the political beggar went to beg Bandit spokesman Gumi in Kaduna for Support. Well done Youth president.”

Another user, @MrOdanz, sarcastically said, “Sheikh Gumi has joined General Eneche, Doyin Okupe, TY Danjuma, IBB and the others who want to rescue Nigeria from the corrupt old order created by PDP and APC. Nigeria shall be great.”

But @Chiditidy1 quickly asked, “So he can’t stop by to greet again?” a question which was also quickly responded to by @OneDayEgoBetter who said, “But you'll drag Tinubu or Atiku if they stop by to greet Evans the kidnapper, y'all hypocrites,” but @TeeGeezer asked, “Who did Gumi kidnap?”

Another Twitter user, @Dawa911 wrote, “Gumi is topping the chart because Obi visited him in Kaduna. Suleiman Obi aka Okwute is a perfect unifier. Lobbying for votes is politics. Without votes, Competency won't work in isolation. Get votes first before we correct bigotry by appointing competent leaders.”

Also defending Obi’s visit to Gumi, @novieverest said, “Peter Obi is contesting to be president of Nigeria as a whole. He will dialogue with everyone, even the ones you feel are your enemies. Sheikh Gumi isn't the only Nigerian Peter Obi will meet that you won't like. He will meet every Nigerian. Thank you.”

So after many years of job hunting, I later found a sale job with an E-commerce company. We work on targets and if we don't meet such targets our salary or incentive will be affected so in order to avoid this situation we work hard under sun and rain to meet our targets. I usually meet mine because I go extra mile while selling to customers.

Since I joined the company, no salary increment for over 2yrs but the company keeps increasing our targets and bringing in different polices. Sometimes after working and at the end of the month those policies will make you go home with less than what you deserve. This company has many branches and top notche offices and has money but they're bent on making workers miserable.

Now, my pain is after I have worked and meet my targets and the payment system is reading #91,710 the company paid me #8000 only.

Please I need to get my balance. I need lawyers, humanitarian organizations, human rights personels and individuals who can help me to recover my balance.

Things are hard and I can't think of leaving that huge amount of money for a rich company like mine who could pay brand ambassador and expatriates. I have been leaving #2000, #5000 etc but #83,710 is huge and can do a lot in this present time.

The Integrity Youth Alliance has urged Sahara Reporters to stop misinterpreting tweets from Adejobi Muyiwa, the Police Spokesman.

Responding to a recent publication by Sahara Reporters titled "Police Spokesman Goofs Again, Says Officers Can Threaten To 'Kill Innocent Nigerians Who Pose No Threat," the Group's National Coordinator, Kelvin Adegbenga, stated that while one Olufemi Oreniyi called the attention of the Police spokesman, Adejobi Muyiwa, to his experience at Mushin Area, and the response of Adejobi quoted here “Mere words of mouth do not constitute any offense. Take note pls. Lets read the law. There are decided cases on this assertion, even many popular cases that one can cite here. Ire o,” does not violate any Nigerian law.


The statement read, “We strongly believe that Olufemi Oreniyi cannot prove that statement “…and he got annoyed and threatens to shoot us dead and nothing will happen,” because the law is trite that he who asserts must prove. See S. 131 (1) of the Evidence Act 2011. The burden is therefore on the applicant who asserts that his fundamental rights have been infringed upon to prove same.

“The onus of proof is however on the state to prove that a statement is voluntary or was not taken under oppressive circumstances. Where the accused person retracts a confession, a court can admit the statement and base its decision on it, but it is desirable that the court examines evidences outside the confession to see if it is probable that the accused person committed the crime.

The Kogi State House of Assembly has been gutted by fire.

The cause of the fire incident was unknown at the time of filing this report on Monday morning.

Reports say the assembly gallery was completely burnt.

SpyeTV News reports that the fire incident started at about 8 am on Monday.

The Speaker of the House, Prince Mathew Kolawole, while speaking to journalists at the assembly complex said the house will allow security agencies to investigate the incident.

The Secretary of the Chief of Defence Staff seven-man negotiating committee, Professor Usman Yusuf, has faulted the claim of the Abuja-Kaduna victims’ negotiator, and publisher of Desert Herald, Tukur Mamu, who once said that the terrorists’ leader wanted to marry the 21-year-old Azurfa Lois John, one of the just freed Abuja-Kaduna victims.
Mamu had on August 20, 2022, alerted Nigerians in a statement that a top commander of bandits who abducted passengers from the Kaduna-Abuja train is reportedly planning to marry one of the victims, 21-year-old Azurfa Lois John.
“This is to alert the federal government and especially the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) that I can confirm through credible information at my disposal that if urgent action is not taken to immediately secure the release of the youngest victim of the train attack, a 21-year-old Azurfa Lois John, the abductors as they have done in the case of Leah Sharibu, are planning to marry her any moment from now,” he was quoted to have said.
However, Professor Usman Yusuf who spoke to Voice of America Hausa service, monitored in Kaduna, said the Boko Haram commander has never approached her, adding that even few days before they were released, the Commander reiterated that he had never said that.
According to him, even when the committee talked to her, she said it was not true, adding that the Commander had never approached her.
He pointed out that for six months they were working behind the scenes to ensure that the Abuja train hostages were released without paying a ransom, adding that their committee did not encourage the payment of ransom to the terrorists.
Prof Yusuf noted that the committee did not give a dime to the terrorists to release the 23 hostages.
“Since 29th March 2022, when the committee started working, we told the insurgents that it was wrong to hold pregnant women, children hostage.
“Among the 23 hostages was a two-year-old girl. When she was abducted she was not up to two years. We told them it was not proper to even have grievances with the government.”
According to him, the armed forces really played a significant role, adding that without the support of the CDS, Gen Irabor, they wouldn’t have gotten access to the forest.

The Kano State Police Command announced it has arrested one Abubakar Mohammed Sadiq a suspected escapee of Kuje prison break in the state.

According to a statement on Friday by the spokesman of the command, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the suspect was arrested at Rangaza Quarters, Ungogo Local Government are of Kano State.

Kiyawa said, “Mr Sadiq, 25-year old of Badarawa Quarters, Kaduna Northlcal Government in Kaduna State, was arrested on September 23 at about 6:00pm, based on credible information and sustained intelligence gathering.

“He was nabbed by a team of Operation Restore Peace, attached to the command’s Criminal Investigation Department, CID.

“He disclosed that the state Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Lawan directed that the suspected escapee be handed over to the Nigeria Correctional Service, Kano State Command”, Kiyawa stated.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Abubakar Lawal in a statement said, in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman, on Community-based Policing and Intelligence-led Policing, Kano State Police Command has rejigs its intelligence gathering strategy and Community Policing engagements.

The Commissioner of Police, while appreciating the good people of Kano State for their continuous support, encouragement and cooperation, urged residents to continue to pray for the State, and the Nation and report incidents to the nearest Police Station and not take laws into their hands.

“Raids of criminal hideouts and black spots will continue throughout the State as the Command will sustain the tempo in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere in Kano State,” he said.

Non-Kinetic Approach Used To Secure Release of 23 Remaining Victims, Terrorists Will Not Go Unpunished - DHQ

The Defence Headquarters has said that the Nigerian military with other security agencies secured the release of 23 remaining passengers by using the non-Kinetic Approach, adding that, terrorists that attacked the Abuja- Kaduna Train on March 28, 2022, killing about eight passengers, injuring many others and took between 60 and 150 passengers into captivity for ransom will face the full wrath of the law.

Director, Defence Media Operations Major General Danmadami made this known at the Defence Headquarters bi-weekly press briefing, when feeding questions from journalists on troops activities and operational successes being recorded in the various operational theaters of the 6 geo-political zones of the Country.

General Danmadami who confirmed the released of remaining 23 victims of the Kaduna train terrorists attack, held in captivity which was disclosed by the Secretary of the Chief of Defence Staff Action Committee, Usman Yusuf on Wednesday afternoon reassured the readiness of the armed forces of Nigeria in synergy with other security agencies to apprehend and neutralised all terrorists involved.


"In our operations, we tell you that, there are kinetic and non-kinetic operations. Non kinectic approach was used for the release of 23 remaaining victims. You didn't know the trauma that those those adoptees and their family members must have gone into, looking for details now my equally subject them to trauma. And we want to assure you, those Terrorists involved will be neutralised soon", he reaffirmed.

"Troops also neutralized 246 terrorists, arrested suspected terrorist logistics suppliers, rescued 3 civilians while a total of 418 suspected Boko Haram Terrorists/Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists, who claimed to have lost interest in the ideology of Boko Haram Terrorists surrendered to own troops at different locations with their families comprised of 44 adults males, 135 adult females and 239 children,"he said.

He also revealed that the air component of Operation HADIN KAI between 23 and 28 September 2022, carried out air interdiction operation at identified terrorists enclaves at Kolaram and Bukar Meram both in the Southern Lake Chad region of Borno State. The air strikes resulted in the neutralization of several terrorists with several of their structures destroyed.

"Troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI in the North West during operation troops neutralized 5 terrorists, arrested 7 terrorists and rescued 8 civilians, conducted precision bombing on identified notorious terrorists leaders Gwaska Dankaramis camp at Mashekari area in Zurmi Local Government Area and Sani Dangote Camp in Farara village in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

"Following the airstrikes, a suspecte, terrorists leader identified as Dogo Rabe and 7 members of his gang were reportedly neutralized in the encounter while other fled in disarray", he said.

"Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation DELTA SAFE in the South South Zone of the Country denied criminal elements freedom of action, essential to sustain a conducive environment for economic activities to thrive while ensuring a relative peaceful environment for the operations of IOCs and the protection of oil and gas infrastructures in the general area.

"The troops of Operation DELTA SAFE in the conduct of Operation OCTOPUS GRIP conducted operational activities at creeks, waterways, communities, villages, town and cities within Delta, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers and Rivers State respectively.

"82 Garrison troops raided a suspected Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network criminal hideout at Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State and arrested 8 suspected Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network criminals. They also recovered substance suspected to be cannabis, drug soaked in alcohol, 2 mobile phones, 2 ATM cards and the sum of Eleven Thousand Naira (N11,000.00) only.

"Troops of Operation AWATSE in a joint border patrol at Gbaji-Isahi-Badagry in Badagry Local Government Area intercepted a vehicle convening 350 50kg bags of foreign rice along Dangote-Ilaro road in Yewa Local Government Area of Ogun State.

"Troops of Operation DAKATAR DA BARAWO within the weeks under review denied oil thieves a total of Two Billion One Hundred and Forty Six Million Seven Hundred Ninety Five Thousand Four Hundred Seventy Two Naira Forty Two Kobo (N2,146,795,472.42) in the South South Region", he said.

The first lady who shared her unforgettable experiences when the incumbent president Muhammadu Buhari was in Army said, "I understand the challenges associated with PTSD and its impact on military families and the nation. My husband, served Nigerian army for 27 years before he was overthrown. He fought civil war for 30 months without a rehabilitation., he ruled Nigeria for 20 months and he was detained for 14 months without knowing his offence, a year after he came up from detention, we got married. I clocked 19 years as his wife in his house legitimatel, so I suffered the consequences of the PTSD because i have gone through all these at the age of 19".


She stresses that, the centre is timely as it is a problem that really deserves a solution and of this nature and providing facilities and services for treatment and rehabilitation of patients is key.

"Raising fund for such a project is not the solution but the federal government that sent them to war front will take responsibility, taking care of their families and also taking care of their mental health after returning from the War front.

Earlier in her welcome address, the DEPOWA President and wife of the Chief of Defence Staff Barrister (Mrs) Vickie Irabor has described the ground-breaking and foundation stone laying ceremony, as an historic and first of its kind, transformative Armed Forces Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Centre. "This is a project that is very dear to my heart and indeed the hearts of all military wives across the Country", she affirmed.


She said the Centre is conceived to be a worthy medical facility for the treatment of military personnel suffering from mental and psychological health challenges occasioned by operational conditions and circumstances.

"DEPOWA, under my leadership decided to pursue the implementation of a novel, first-of-its-kind, Legacy-based Armed Forces PTSD Centre", she noted.


Mrs Irabor who also shared her experiences with guests when her husband, (the Current Chief of Defence Staff) was deployed to Liberia and then to Sierra Leone under the auspices of ECOMOG to fight the war that later stabilized these Countries, said, in DEPOWA's review of Research conducted, extraordinary challenges being faced by officers and soldiers on the frontlines in securing our nation by fighting terrorism, banditry, and other societal ill, some of these challenges range from physical injuries, mental health issues, and sometimes, sadly paying the supreme price in the defence of Nigeria.


She opined that, there is a huge gap in mental health responses globally, including Nigeria - especially in the treatment, management, and rehabilitation of PTSD faced by families in the Armed Forces.

Mrs Irabor therefore called on all Nigerians, the private and public sector, NGOs, International Development Organizations, foreign Governments represented by their diplomatic missions, and all stakeholders to join DEPOWA in this campaign for a better Nigeria for all Nigerians, by actualizing this DEPOWA-powered Armed Forces PTSD Centre.


In her word, the Baroness Sandy Verma, Member, UK House of Lords said this initiatives provides a glimmer quote today also served in the armed forces of Nigeria and to others around the world, especially here on the African continent, urgently need the services that will be provided therein.


"So I will pledge that I will take back on behalf of businesses that I work with on a regular basis to look at how they can be supportive of this initiative. This requires a real long term plan. It is my prayer that this kind of an example with sooner rather than day to become the standard for all of Africa and will provide a safe place for our armed forces to get the care that they need so that they can return in a normal state to their families.

Tougher time awaits drug barons and cartels operating in Nigeria if they fail to back out of their criminal trade and embrace legitimate ventures. Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) gave the assurance on Tuesday 27th September 2022 while leading stakeholders to witness the crushing and setting ablaze 1.8 tons of cocaine recovered by the Agency from a warehouse in Ikorodu area of Lagos last week.

Director, Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi made this known in a press statement on Tuesday, made available to SpyeTV News.

Babafemi explains that the NDLEA had in a well-coordinated and intelligence led operation that lasted two days last week stormed a hidden warehouse at 6 Olukunola street, Solebo estate Ikorodu where 1.8 tons of cocaine were recovered and five suspects including a Jamaican were arrested. Following the historical seizure, which is the largest in the Agency’s history, an order of the Federal High Court in Lagos was obtained for the public destruction of the consignment.

Speaking at the venue of the public destruction in Badagry area of Lagos Tuesday, Gen. Marwa who was represented by the Agency’s Director, Prosecution and Legal Services, Deputy Commander General of Narcotics, DCGN Sunday Joseph, said the sheer volume of the drug haul, with street value put at two hundred and seventy-eight million, two hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($278, 250,000), equivalent to one hundred and ninety-four billion, seven hundred and seventy-five million (N194, 775,000,000) naira, speaks volume about the extent of the nefarious activities of the drug underworld.

He said this has made it imperative for Nigerians to continue to support NDLEA in the renewed war against illicit drugs.

He said out of the 1.8-ton seizure, 1, 828 blocks of the cocaine will be crushed and set ablaze while the remnant will be secured for purpose of prosecution of the suspects who were brought to witness the procedure and sign the certificate of destruction. According to the NDLEA boss, “the Agency is proceeding with the prosecution of those arrested in connection with this consignment. On this, the public can rest assured that NDLEA shall pursue the trial to a logical conclusion. Since January 25, 2021, when we commenced our offensive action against drug traffickers, the Agency has secured record convictions. Presently, 2, 904 drug offenders are serving various jail terms, while other cases are ongoing in court, which we are confident will end in positive results too.”

To the drug underworld, he said “the bust of the syndicate responsible for the cocaine warehoused in Ikorodu is a message to drug cartels that their investments in the illicit drug trade will go up in flames as you are about to witness while they also risk losing their freedom because the present NDLEA is committed to arresting, prosecuting and ensuring the conviction of those involved in illicit drugs. That is not all, we now also go after their assets acquired with the proceeds of the criminal trade.”

Marwa said the fact that the Ikorodu operation was conducted clinically without any skirmish or bloodshed is further testimony to the evolution of the NDLEA and its new capabilities, and a pointer to the fact that the game has changed in the war against illicit drugs.

He expressed appreciation to the Agency’s international partners, especially the American Drug Enforcement Administration (US-DEA) that supported the cocaine syndicate bust and the Nigerian military that provided additional firepower during the operation, as well as other law enforcement agencies that have been supporting efforts to rid Nigeria of illicit drugs.

While soliciting for more support for the Agency’s work, Marwa said “the safety of our society is the responsibility of every one of us and every citizen shall be fulfilling his or her civic duty by assisting the Agency to clean up our communities and cities by joining our War Against Drug Abuse (WADA)”, adding that “together, we can make this country secure.”

The Nigerian Army troops in collaboration with operatives of the Nigeria Police have again repelled attack at a military checkpoint at Obeagu-Amodu road in Enugu South local government area.

This attack is coming barely three weeks after gunmen shot and killed about three policemen at New Haven area of Enugu State.

SpyeTV News gathered that the gunmen rudely stormed the checkpoint area in two Lexus RX SUV and one Toyota Sienna bus around 7:25 am on Tuesday.

They reportedly opened fire at the combined team of police and military.

The operatives were said to have swiftly responded to the attacks, leading to a heavy shootout in the area.

Nigerians have been warned not to use the Inspector General of Police's (IGP) Usman Baba Alkali's order as a pretext when resolving disputes with NPF personnel.

National Coordinator, Integrity Youth Alliance, Adewole Kehinde striking a police officer is a serious offense that is punishable by a felony under Section 356 of the Criminal Code Act.

“Therefore, the act of locking officers in your vehicle, dragging or holding their uniforms out of anger, and resisting or obstructing arrest are termed serious assaults punishable with at least three years jail term, Adewole said.

The statement reads, “It will be recalled that on Saturday, September 10, 2022, The Punch published a video of a lady assaulting a police officer in the Festac Area of Lagos State.

“In the video, the angry lady held the officer’s uniform and shouted at his face, saying the officer threatened to shoot her.

“As usual, there were divided reactions to the video. While some condemned the lady’s action, others believe she was right to assault the officer if the policeman truly threatened to gun her down.

“This is not the first time videos showing civilians harassing law enforcement agents would surface on social media.

“Earlier in September, Nigerian rapper Ice Prince was arrested after he allegedly abducted and threatened to throw a police officer in a river.

“The police officer was said to have stopped the music star for driving a car without a number plate at 3 am.

“According to the police, Ice Prince who agreed to be taken to the station for his offence allegedly kidnapped the officer and also threatened to throw him into a river.

“Also, in August, a viral video showed one Billy Tokunbo, assaulting a police officer after he was stopped for allegedly driving against traffic.

“In the video, Tokunbo was seen dragging the officer by his trouser on the road while someone in the background asked him if he was satisfied with what he did to the policeman.

“Tokunbo was subsequently arrested while his car was impounded.

The numerous incidents mentioned above foreshadow a risk if not adequately checked, since certain unscrupulous elements may exploit attempts by genuinely irate Nigerians to terrorize security personnel, which would be detrimental to the safety of Nigerians' lives and property.

In the course of the above, we stand by the statement credited to the most effective Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi as his statement is in line with Section 356.

Section 356 identifies the following actions as serious assaults.

Any person who:

(1) assaults another with intent to commit a felony, or with intent to resist or prevent the lawful arrest or detention of himself or of any other person; or

(2) assaults, resists, or wilfully obstructs a police officer while acting in the execution of his duty, or any person acting in aid of a police officer while so acting; or

(3) unlawfully assaults, resists, or obstructs, any person engaged in the lawful execution of any process against any property, or in making a lawful distress, while so engaged; or

(4) assaults, resists, or obstructs any person engaged in such lawful execution of process, or in making a lawful distress, with intent to rescue any property lawfully taken under such process or distress; or

(5) assaults any person on account of any act done by him in the execution of any duty imposed on him by law; or

(6) assaults any person in pursuance of any unlawful conspiracy respecting any manufacture, trade, business, or occupation, or respecting any person or persons concerned or employed in any manufacture, trade, business, or occupation, or the wages of any such person or person.

Any person involved in the acts stated above is guilty of a felony and is liable to imprisonment for three years.

Finally, we want to inspire the Police personnel to abide by the IGP’s policing vision which includes: Deploying cutting-edge policing technology; Integrating intelligence-led policing practices to core policing functions, with a view to strengthening police capacity to stabilise the internal security order; and Restoring public confidence in the Force, ” the statement concluded.

Group Condemns Falana's Misinterpretation of FPRO Statement, Cautions Against Attack on Policemen


A group, Coalition for Protection of Citizens Rights (CPCR), has cautioned Nigerians, particularly those on the Social media, not to misconstrue the recent persistent disciplinary actions, by the leadership of the Nigeria Police, under IGP Usman Baba Alkali, as a license, towards engaging in illegitimate means, in addressing grievances, with men and officers, of the Nigeria Police Force, as this may easily become, a recipe for Anarchy in the country.

Reports say, the human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, had earlier given the Police Force Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, 24 hours to withdraw the statement he made that ‘no Nigerian has the right to confront policemen or retaliate even if the policeman slaps him/her.

The group however said the call became necessary in view of the recent incidences of physical assault, of uniformed Police personel, as being widely circulated on the Social media, in several instances, saying this portend a danger, as some unscrupulous elements may take advantage of attempt by genuinely aggrieved Nigerians, to unleash terror on security operatives, which in turn, will be counterproductive, to the safety of lives and properties of Nigerians.

Speaking through a Press Statement jointly signed on Monday in Lagos, by Olufemi Lawson, and Comrade Jude Ochiagha, the group condemned, what it termed, as a deliberate sensationalism, of a statement, credited to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, where he advised Nigerians, whose rights may be violated by any policeman, not to resort to physical retaliation, but rather make formal complain about the conduct of such policemen, to the appropriate authority for necessary action, a statement, which some elements, in the social media, have erroneously misinterpreted, as the Force Public Relations Officer, giving the approval, for the police, to willfully, assault or 'slap' any Nigerian, without the power, to retaliate such.

The statement further said, "For the purpose of clarity, the statement made by the FPRO, was an advice, aftermath of a trending video of a young man Nigerian, who was shown to have been dragging an AK-47 rifle with a uniformed policeman in Lagos, an action, which stands condemnable, by any right thinking individual."

"It is note worthy, that at no time, in our recent history, has the leadership of the Police force, shown more commitment to responding to public petitions and protests, against the officers and men of the force, than under the current leadership of IGP Usman Baba Alkali, with the efficiency constantly displayed, by the Force Public Relations Officer and the team of the Police Public Relations Units, across the States, in delivering justice to abused Nigerians."

"While we cannot but agree, that like every other professions, particularly the security agencies, there are bad elements within the Nigeria Police Force, that nonetheless, should not become an avenue, for Nigerians, to resort to self help, and encourage anarchism, which was the main admonition, of CSP Muyiwa Adejobi and the Police Leadership."

"Finally, we want to encourage the Police Force, to remain committed, to the task of building a Police/Citizens friendly relationship, which the IGP Usman Baba Alkali's leadership of the force, have shown series of commitment, into achieving, as we also urge those, who are crisis enterpreneurs, to desist from all form of actions, that can promote lawlessness, in our society, especially, at this crucial moment of heightened insecurity, in our country." the statement concluded.

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba on Monday has given instructions to all State police Commissioners to build security around schools across the country

The Force Public Relations Officer CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi made this known in a televised broadcast urging owners of schools, particularly private schools, to work hand in hand with police Commissioners and police officers.

Adejobi advised school owners to design security measures that are going to use to protest students, staff and other members of their various school communities in Nigeria.

"We have done it in such a way that our deployment are so strategic to cover many schools at the same time, particularly along the roads where we have many schools one or two patrol vans, a phone number for to protect this Schools.

"In as much as we know that we will not have enough personnel to be posted to every schools having more than 100,000 schools across the country, we have deployed police to the school's one after the other enough to provide security for our students. We want to appeal to parents and guardians to please work with the police word, which was cool authorities to make sure we protect our children.

"Please make sure you know those you are handing them over to. Don't hand over your children to wrong hands or just any individuals to drop your children off school. The custody of children is so paramount for us. You hand over your kids to the person and be sure of the person you're relating with and for taking him off in school again

The Force PRO alos admonished school owners to have very good internal security mechanism, and the man in charge of this security mechanism should have the number of their various DPOs at their fingertips", he noted.

"There's no need for you to say I don't have the number of my DPO, you should work closely with your DPO. So we want to appeal to all of us to be very serious. Protection of these students is so very paramount for us and that's why the police is coming out to remind us to be security cautious.

"We're going to do the needful to make sure our deployment is laudable enough, are so effective and efficient to protect lives and property of our students as schools resumed. If noticed anything strange in your school, around your premises, please talk to the police around you", he said.

The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has warned those fueling crises in various parts of the Country to desist from their unpatriotic acts as the Nigerian Army would continue to work closely with other Gry, security agencies to provide peaceful environment.

The COAS strongly advise them to retrace their steps as the Nigerian Army, within the ambit of rule of law, will continue to ensure that all peace-loving citizens of this Country go about their legitimate businesses and live their lives without fear or intimidation.

In his closing remarks, General Yahaya said the Conference has indeed afforded Commanders and senior officers the opportunity to appraise all Nigerian Army activities and "we are now rejuvenated towards achieving the goal of discharging our constitutional responsibilities".

He enjoined all formation and unit commanders on the need to be vigilant, aware of all situation through constant monitoring pand ensuring proactive solution to situations. Commanders are equally reminded on the need to emplace stringent measures to maintain efficient security of arms and ammunition.

The COAS also directed commanders to ensure that subordinates are educated on the guidelines provided in the document. Commanders must also ensure the professional conduct of troops and resist any distraction and attempt by misguided elements to disrepute the image of the Nigerian Army. All must remain professional and apolitical in conduct all through Operation SAFE CONDUCT.

He noted that the directive on the reviewed Nigerian Army Rules of Engagement and Code of Conduct for Operation SAFE CONDUCT should be adhered to strictly by all during the electioneering period.


On the welfare of Army troops, the COAS said the Nigerian Army is developing a robust programme to enhance the rehabilitation and resuscitation of personnel that are disabled due to injuries from operations.

"I am sure that when this is completed, the impact on the morale and performance of our troops will speak for itself".

He ccommended all personnel the optimism and commitment they have reflected during the Conference which clearly showed in the quality of discussions and contributions made.

The military on Thursday said, the tactical surveillance troops have arrested a Boko Haram informant named Mamuda Usman (aka Bado) in Asokoro, the Federal Capital Territory.

One of the neutralized terrorists was identified as Dan Nijar Bala, a notorious terrorists who has been on the wanted list of troops and noted for series of kidnapping incidents and attacks in Zamfara State.

In North Central, Operation SAFE HAVEN non-kinetic approach to winning the heart’s and mind of the local populace and promote peaceful coexistence at ensuring lasting peace is achieved, Headquarters Operation SAFE HAVEN Jos in collaboration with Beautiful Gate Handicaps People Centre Jos, on 3 September 2022 distributed 220 tricycles’ and bags of rice to the physically challenged persons within Plateau and Bauchi States.

Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE on patrol and rescue operation and exchanged fire with the bandit and arrested Mr Alex Apera aged 26 years and Mr Umaru Halilu aged 34 years.

The Imo State Police raided the Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network criminal camp engaged hoodlum in a gun duel but were overpowered.

Adejobi explained that, the outcome of the concluded investigations into a petition against the owners of Harmony Gardens and Estate Development Limited and Amen Estate, one Saheed Abdullahi Mosadoluwa (aka Ibile) and Ms. Sade Balogun respectively shows clearly that the Police carried out a laudable investigation worthy of commendation in the absence of sentiments and the duo are to be prosecuted by the Lagos State Government contrary to the news making the rounds.

He said the case commenced through a petition by one Adeyinka Igbinoba, dated 21st March, 2022, received at the office of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, and endorsed to the IGP Monitoring Unit to investigate.

"In the petition, the petitioner claimed that her sisters, Barrister Bunmi Okoror and Abiodun Abdul, requested for a refund of an initial deposit of 30 million Naira made to one Saheed Abdullahi Mosadoluwa (aka Ibile) in respect of some parcels of land in Lekki, Lagos, claiming that the issued Certificate of Occupancy was fake and they subsequently reported the matter to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

"In the course of the back and forth to recover the said sum of money, the petitioner, Adeyinka Igbinoba, with her siblings Bunmi Okoror and Abiodun Abdul, and their mother, Mrs. Abdul Beckely along with their driver attended a scheduled meeting in the office of Mr. Saheed at Landbook Office, Eleganza Plaza, Opposite Ikole Complex, Ajah, Lagos, who had clearly emphasized that he would only refund the paid sum in full when they withdraw the case from the EFCC", he added.

Forcw PRO noted that at the meeting, they met Mr. Saheed, his agent, Mr. Kolawole Opeodu, and two other men. It was alleged that the meeting became heated and led to a serious altercation where Mr. Saheed hit the petitioner with a carved wooden object leading to a serious fracture on her right ankle.

It is equally pertinent to mention that Ms. Sade Balogun, owner of Amen Estate where the petitioner resides, acting on her friendship with Mr. Saheed, restrained the petitioner from accessing her property.

Detailed investigation into the petition has successfully addressed the three (3) salient issues. Firstly, a response to police request from the office of the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Lands, Lagos dated 23rd May, 2022 ascertained the ownership of the land but did not confirm or deny any encumbrances on it as requested.

Secondly, there exists circumstantial evidence in form of audio recordings substantiating the claim that Mr. Saheed (Ibile) caused grievious harm on the petitioner as she sustained the fracture to her right ankle between the corridor and the staircase leading to the suspect’s office which has been operated upon and renders the complainant incapacitated on crutches.

Finally, the conduct of Ms. Sade Gbadamosi in restraining the petitioner from accessing her property constitutes a breach of the petitioner’s fundamental rights and is likely to cause breach of peace.

The Attorney-General of Lagos State will be prosecuting the matter before the Courts as soon as possible on request by the Lagos State Government and whomsoever has any reservations as to the police investigation is at liberty to express such before the Court.

The military in sustained operations to clear the North West of banditry and terrorism, troops of 1 Division, Nigerian Army have again neutralized bandits and terrorists along Sabon Birni, Dogondawa-Kuyelo and Farin Ruwa on Saturday 3 September 2022.

Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

Onyema stressed that the dogged and highly motivated troops, while on a fighting patrol, came in contact with unconfirmed number of bandits.

He noted that the troops in the ensuing shoot out , eliminated 3 of the terrorists and recovered two AK 47 rifles, nine magazines, seven Baofeng communication radios, one Tecno mobile phone, 120 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition , one power generator and a motorcycle.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has commended the troops for their gallantry and urged them not to relent until banditry is eradicated in the region.

The General Officer Commanding 1 Division, Maj Gen Taoreed Lagbaja has urged all law abiding citizens to continue to support the troops and other security agencies with credible and actionable information, that would assist the troops in their operations against the criminal elements.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya has described the Director General Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Major General Garba Ayodeji Wahab (rtd) as an exemplary leader, an intelligent army General, a national Hero, who distinguished himself in the service of the Army and by implication, the Nigerian Nation.

General Yahaya made the remark in his goodwill message on Thursday 1st September 2022, at the birthday celebration/Lunch and Launching of a Book "Soldiering and Nation Building" a festschrift in honour of Maj Gen Garba Ayodeji Wahab (Rtd) at Nigerian Army Resource Centre Asokoro Abuja.

The COAS said, the celebrant has meritoriously served the Army for over three decades in several capacities, it is gratifying that his achievements, while in service and even in retirement as the DG NARC is worthy to emulate.

He promised to install the new book in all Nigerian Army formations and libraries, while challenging all Nigerians to imbibed the spirit of reading Culture, he advised personnel to author books that will inspire people.

“I encourage officers and even the soldiers to write books and we will continue to encourage them when they have such ideas to put into paper to write.

Describing Major General Wahab, the representative of the Ilorin Emirate Council, Engineer Suleiman Yahaya eulogies him as son of the soil and as one who fought for the unity of Nigeria. “You so deserve to be celebrated as one who has sacrificed a lot over the years. And we Kwarans are proud of you.”

Kayode Alabi, the Deputy Governor of Kwara State in his goodwill message said, Major General Garba Ayodeji Wahab is an excellent and a brave soldier. He belongs to the cremé de cremé of the officers and since 2019 when he was appointed the Director-General of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, he is still adding value to the society.

Book reviewer, Major General Ibrahim Yusuf, Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna who reviewed the book titled “Soldiering and Nation Building" commended the author for a job well done.

Major General Yusuf said the 342 page Book highlighted the tasking roles of a Soldier, in the quest to secure Nigeria and Nigerians was presented by the NARC in honour of its DG and his 64 Birthday celebration.

He said, the book which had 16 Chapters was written by 14 authors comprising seven professors from the academia and seven members of faculty and research fellows of NARC. "While chapter one of the book focuses on the life of Gen. Wahab, the remaining chapters cover different areas of national development".

The former Chief of Defence Staff and Chairman of the occasion, retired Gen. Martin Luther Agwai, described Wahab as one of the best brains that the Nigerian army had produced.
The Celebrant, Major General Garba Wahab, a member of the Course 24, Direct Short Service,NDA Kaduna thanked guests and the Nigerian Army Resource centre for organising the surprise birthday in his honour and pledged to do his best to nation building.

Dignitaries at the event includes the Chief of Army Staff, Former Chiefs of Army Staff, representatives of other service chiefs, principal staff officers from Defence and Services Headquarters and other senior officers.

Nigerian Navy is Gaining Traction in West Africa, As 216 Illegal Refining Sites Deactivated In Five Months - Naval Chief


The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, has said that that indigenous ship-building efforts of the Nigerian Navy is gaining traction in West Africa, adding that the Navy hopes to launch the building of two attack ships in Turkey by September.

The Naval Chief disclosed this on a National TV programme aired on Monday, noted that over 216 illegal refining sites were deactivated in the last five months.

He said over 41 million litres of diesel equivalent of N27bn were saved as a result of naval operations in the period under review.

“I must put on record that a review of Operation Dakatar Da Barawo in the last five months revealed over 216 illegal refining sites that were deactivated. We have over 2,920 metal storages and over 145 wooden boats that were destroyed during the period under review.

“Of course, in addition, oil thieves were by implication denied 41,308,340 litres which is equivalent to 366 or 60,241 barrels of crude oil. Regarding AGO (Automotive Gas Oil popularly known as diesel), we have 18,747,830 litres of illegally AGO.

“This has prevented over N27bn from getting to undeserving individuals which could be used to support criminals of all kinds in diverse ways. Though we are not yet there but achievement recorded thus far necessitated a review of the outrageous quantities of stolen crude oil.”

Similarly, the naval chief said it was not true that between 20,000 and 200,000 barrels of crude oil are being stolen daily in Nigeria. According to him, 100,000 barrels of crude is the equivalent of 15.8 million litres of crude oil requiring a five-ton barge to make 3,160 trips to convey to a mother vessel within a day. “Most of these claims are definitely outrageous and unrealistic,” he maintained.

He also confirmed the arrest of super ships loading oil within Nigeria’s space without license, saying such ships will be prosecuted by the Federal Government through the AGF office, noting that intelligence is vital to fighting terrorism and maritime crimes.
