If you have ties to your home country, good jobs, financially capable to cover your trip and all , I think you all stand a chance. Be ready to explain to the VO though why you didn't use your expired visas. Take your old passports where have the expired visas along with you for your interview.

You'll never know if you never try.

Best of luck! Shalom! smiley

Hmmmm... iContribute, sorry about your visa cancellation.
I think what gave you away was your return ticket date not corresponding with when you wanted to leave the US, I mean you weren't even sure when you will be back home. And you making a joke when the guy @ the POE wasn't even ready for that.

If you can, let us know the POE this was at and the airline you flew.

Sorry once again, I hope it's not a 5year ban sha... 5 years is a LONG time!!!

Hello Gurus in the house,
I got an invitation to attend a conference in the US. its an EDO Association convention and they are inviting the president and myself as the secretary of another EDO Association (Legally Registerd) here in Nigeria to participate in the conference.
I am married with four kids, good job but with no travel history.
What are my chances of been issued a visa?
my interview date is 18th august.
We have all documents ready including hotel reservation and registration for the conference.
Opinoins needed please. thanks

You have good home ties, the only "comma" may be travel history. But hey, there's nothing God can't do. Alot of people have gotten with Virgin passport. (My friend who's a medical doctor was approved yesterday. She's single, no travel history. She got her passport solely for this trip. I felt like a guru because I assisted her. grin) Just answer the questions you are asked, do not "para_yarn". Lol. I believe you filled your DS160 yourself so you remember everything in there, because most of your questions will come from what you filled and all.
Finally, PRAY!

God's grace, and do not forget to share your transcript here when you get your visa.

VO: Ok. That company does not sound familiar. What are they into?
ME: The company is Spanish - owned with the head office based in Barcelona, Spain.
VO: Oh ok! And before then you worked with a food company?
ME: Yes (I mentioned the name of that company where I worked for about 3 years, which you and I know is the biggest in Noodles manufacturing)
VO: Ok, that's correct.
VO: Are you married?
ME: Yes
VO: Do you have kids?
ME: Yes
VO: How many?
ME: (mentioned the number and sex)
VO: Ok, that's good
VO: Have you traveled out of Nigeria before? (Checked through my passport)
ME: Yes. South Africa
VO: cuts in.....ok, I can see it here
VO: What did you go to do in South Africa?
ME: I was at our company's head office in Cape Town for an official training.
VO: Ok, that's alright.
VO: Congratulations! Your visa has been approved! It will be ready for pick up next week. (Picked up the white sheet and circled the address)
ME: (Trying not to betray emotions) Thank you!

When I got outside, I let out a deep sigh of relief and thanked God for the favour.

I observed that all the questions asked were taken from the information filled on the application form which he was seeing on his computer. I can attest to the fact that the VOs are all professionals and I don't think they deny people needlessly. If you have a genuine reason to be in the US, you have home ties and travel history you stand a great chance of getting the visa.

Above all, I give God all the glory for His mercy and favour which gave me the success!

Congrats!

@Chloe7 , you were right after all! grin
Still waiting patiently for Emirates or Lufthansa discount promo for my September/October travel. Me i don't have the 280k I am seeing now.

Please how do I clear cookies on my phone? Once I open Lufthansa site on my device, and try to enter LOS-JFK, the last dates I entered some days ago will pop up. So the cookies part is true. And the booking early part as well. I'm guilty. I like to plan well ahead, as I no want story. But as for this year, pepper no too rest, so I'm chilling till I see cheap Emirates/Lufthansa or BA. cheesy

My sister, you sure you ain't checking for premium economy/economy comfort?
I'm seeing high prices mana oburo zi nke 400k/500k.
The highest I've seen for August/September travel is 295k (the likes of BA, Virgin and Emirates). Lufthansa is on 250k, Klm/Airfrance 248k.
That's for LOS-JFK.

Never flown them before. Qatar Airways is always my preferred option if not using BA or Iberia. What's this Dubai-Connect you speak of?

ITA Matrix[/quote]

Dubai connect is offered by Emirates. When you fly with them and your layover in Dubai is over 8 hours for Economy and 6 hours for Business and First class, but not more than 24hours, they offer you a UAE transit visa, hotel accommodation, meal ticket and transport to and fro all free of charge! ... There are certain Ts & cs tho. Your base fare must not be less than $1000. You will be notified during your booking process if you qualify, and the you'll be advised accordingly.

I'm in Love with Emirates, my first and only experience with them last year was kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss

Etihad, not bad. But the layover shaaaaaa! 14hours? I just can't! Or do they do Abu-Dhabi connect like Emirates does Dubai-Connect? And Delta? Don't know why I don't like em' undecided

That my friend is a trade secret...I never said I searched on their website.

The do it that way probably because they want you to book directly with them at the office so they can slap on a booking fee...just thinking aloud

I'm not talking about summer...I'm speaking in general. Think about whatever the off peak fares were last year and add on about 40% because the $ prices are the same but the value in Naira has gone up. Even if the fares are further discounted, the savings have been lost due to exchange differences.

Yea, I get. I only mentioned summer now, because the dates you selected are in July. It's ok tho...

Just a piece of advice...all of you looking for cheap flights, please bear in mind that the Naira has been greatly devalued so the cheapest tickets will be in the $1200 range. Do the math...that's in the 230k range. Sad to say that the days of 190k tickets to the US might be over.

See below...that's the cheapest fare you can get for a 2 week stay in July...

Wait o.... Please how were you able to search LOS-JFK via AUH on Etihad? Whenever I try on their website, I'm never able to find LOS-JFK. There's no JFK in the list of destinations, if your Departure airport is LOS.

yes yes I got what you meant, when I said they won't check ticket I meant that at the embassy they won't ask to check the tickets, maybe when they see tickets before visa then they'll see they are really committed to going and coming back grin grin cheesy
But I no fit do am sha Because I no go fit sleep until I see that visa make my money no throway inside dustbin, you sef dey take risk but for the LHR flight if you did that and added to the application it must have been an added advantage that this lady is committed to returning to Naija, you try o, I no fit abeg kiss

I didn't add the ticket to the application o, so it wouldn't look like I was kinda "forcing" them to issue the visa. I bought cos' the prices were really skyrocketing by the day. I was willing to pay $120 for a refund in a case where I didn't get the visa. But I had "soaked my chaplet

Truth is you did the right thing because it's not advisable to buy a ticket without visa not even for a country like America where they won't even check if you bought ticket or not...
Lol don't worry you will get it for less than that, April tickets were quite affordable, by Aug, Sept you go see cheap flights no worry just chill

No, I mean they bought in April for September travel. They didn't travel in April.
Last year, I booked my Emirates flight to LHR before i even applied for my UK visa... big risk! But I got the visa in the end. Few days to my departure. grin
