Lolz... NYC ke? East coast is another matter o. Its actually a part of the Wyndham chain hotel. This one we are in is called Hawthorn Suites. You can google it around your expected location. Online, the rack rates were about 100/night. However, always pick up the phone and call any facility you are interested in. When I arrived, we were told that in the state of Texas, hotel taxes are reimbursed after 30 days of continuous stay for stay credits. In all for 30 day minimum stay in the facility we're staying its $2,220/month after credits. The place is split level individualized apartments. The Facility has got swimming pool and tennis court. The breakfast is not wow (usual oyibo fare, but at least the eggs and cereals are real lolz; Waffles are not our thing). Dinner is 5 days a week. not gourmet, but its worth those days you do not want to cook. However its buffet..so u have to trudge down to the dinning room. A Walmart is down the freeway and sprinkling of shops near by.

Alright, Thanks. Will check it out.

Hi All,
We arrived Dallas last week Friday on BA from LOS-LHR-DFW. POE was a breeze. With wifey and 2 kids. In reply to customary first question, replied that we were here for vacation and to have our baby. Asked if we had made prior medical arrangements, replied that we had contacted Docs, hospitals etc and that we had funds available to pay. Asked where I work.. Replied. End of story. Stamped in for 6 months. Wifey didn't even whisper a word... God is really awesome! In all the trip was exhausting but exhilarating. We declared food but bags weren't checked... those folks seemed quite bored that morning. We shuffled out and used the free shuttle to the Rental Centre to pick up our Rental. Within one hour we were on our way to Mesquite. (National will accept your Nigerian drivers license and Nigerian bank debit card. Just make sure you have your travel tickets printout available to show your outward travel date. Without a data plan, your smartphones Google maps will be useless for navigation. I had to rent a GPS device for $9/day.)

We had gotten a serviced aparthotel (2 BR with 2full bath + kitchenette). Free High speed internet, Cable, Telephone (local/US trunk) All bills inclusive, includes daily cleaning service with breakfast and 5-day dinner service. Laundry is coin-operated. All for $70/day longstay.. The place is a dream. Uber works very well in Dallas and nearby cities so movement wouldn't be hard for wifey.

Wifey's network directed us to a fantastic African/Nigerian shop in Garland. Well stocked with our peculiar delicacies.. even goat meat. enough palm oil, maggi, knorr and even Nigerian Peak powder.

Visited ObyGyn for first scheduled appointment. By the grace of God all is still okay. Now the wait begins for her. MIL arrives in a week.. then I can finally pass the baton and go back to rejoin the Lagos rat race till baby's grand entrance week. #SigningOut folks

Congrats on your grand arrival. And safe delivery to your wifey.

Ejoor, what's the name/website of this 'aparthotel'? For $70/night? Wow! Please share the name abeg, hopefully they will have a branch in NYC.

Does USA embassy in Nigeria retain passport photographs after visa interview if the visa is approved?

Please I will like to know.

No, they do not. They return it to you just after biometrics, before you even go for the interview proper.

Hello house, trust you are all doing fine. Here is my case and i want you guys to review and tell me my chances. I was denied US visa in 2013 at Lagos consulate. Though it was my fault because i couldn't answer most of the questions, i got carried away by the beautiful young vo in No.1 cubicle as she interviewed me + no travel history (i used an agent then, but luckily for me i have all the details) no false info whatsoever!

I reapplied this year for june, but was told at the verification desk in Abuja that i was part of the applicant affected by the system glitch. I quickly reschedule another appointment for August.

Here are my Question

1. My appoint for August was successfully reschedule but the previous one for June is still showing in my appointment history as scheduled.

2. For travel history I've been to east Africa twice one visa on arrival and the other i got my visa in abuja. I've also traveled to one of the ecowas country and i have their stamps.

3. I still work with the company i filled in my first US appointment in 2013, but now my pay has risen from 170k + then to 200k + now.

4. Am single, no kids (surely i pray to have my itssy bitssy through wedlock )

5. A friend of mine who is a LPR holder is the one inviting me for a 2 week holiday.

Please what is my chances of getting approved.

You're salary is ok, African travel history not wow... but fair.(I doubt if they count African travels as travel history) The whole visa ish is a 50/50 thing from people's experiences we've read here. So I think you should really pray for God's favour on your day. Answer only questions asked.
Your friend inviting you, how did he get to the US?
I think you should go ahead with the August appointment since it was scheduled successfully. Or, if you aren't busy on your June appointment date, you can sha visit the embassy o, let it be that turned you back that you are not scheduled for that day. Or you can call them to confirm.
God's grace in all!

Hello house, I have interview for 7.30am next week and I live in surulere. ..any advice on when to leave house or would it be good if I lodge in a hotel the previous night? We all know the traffic situation in lagos these days.
Thanks.

U don't need to lodge in a hotel. If you are mobile, you can leave home at 5am or 5.15am. If you're going with public transport, u should leave home at 5am, to avoid stories that touch.

God's grace in your interview.

Please advise...Cos i seems nt to understand again. Thanks

Hello Tolman, I'm sure no one answered you earlier because it has been mentioned on this thread, a few pages back why passports are still at the embassy weeks after interview.
Anyway, the US consulate is experiencing Computer glitches worldwide, so this is affecting their issuing of visas and all.... You are not alone. I hear it would be sorted out this week, hopefully. So be patient.

At last my interview was today 10am..got at the embassy 9.00am.After all the queues and appointment and DS 160 form, fingerprint and the rest..finally cubicle visa officer face off begins.
One particular bony visa officer with eye glasses can't remember the cubicle number was busy denying almost everybody both old couples and young..not smiling and didn't last 1minute
Not upto 2mins..note..I have been to nearly 13 countries half on Vacation with my wife, some on work duty and others on NGO conferences in different countries..worked with my present coy for 9yrs.however a new member in my local chapter I took along so to have a feel of what the NGO is all about globally, single, never traveled before was given visa by the lady in cubicle 2.and the boy was surprised on first trial and with no travel history, salary below N100k and new member got.he was bitter I won't be going with him anymore.
So in all I was denied.

Sorry o. Was hoping for some positive news. And why did I think you were female.
With all your travel history, big salary, social ties to home.... hmm, I don't know again. Maybe you should apply again.
Sorry again.

I will first of all thank this thread for the advice and instructions I got before going to the US embassy. They consular officer granted me the visa but for a week now my passport is still at the embassy. I even tracked it online at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-passportretrieve.asp . Is there any advise I can get concerning this? Thank you all.

Dear Chuks, you are not alone in this. The US Consulate is having issues with their computers worldwide. So they are having delays printing visas and all... They issued a statement on this earlier.
So chill, they will let you know when it's ready. Mine is still at the Embassy for a week now, so worry not!

I think people with good career background is also a plus, remember they gave provisions on the DS-160 form to fill in your employment history. I remember filling that part with my three last jobs and giving clear details of my functions during those years. I have this theory that the VOs actually scheme through submitted forms a day prior to the interview date. Hence, they would normally have made up their minds on whose to approve and not to.

]

Eeyah. Sorry about your denial.

Apart from your career history and all, what are your other ties to home? Travel history? Wife? Kids? Is your brother in the US a citizen? Did he file an immigrant visa for you that's still pending? It could be one of these.

Just dust yourself up and think of the next step, inugo?

okay, so what scenario will be better? For her to sponsor herself? I'm thinking what she earns isn't so much, please correct me if i'm wrong
So you think it will be better for her to say she is engaged, earns about 190k, and she wants to sponsor herself, she has been denied once two years ago, she has been to the uk twice, the vatican once and dubai once.

But who is truly sponsoring her? I think she should say the truth if she is sponsoring herself. Her SOA of account might not even be checked to see how much she has saved up at the moment.

Btw, chloe7 you say 190k a month isn't much? shocked
